Summary: Didn't work
Review: This would have been a great DVD if it didn't freeze up after the workout was done, or if all of the workouts would play on my DVD. The company that makes this DVD said some players don't run these DVD's well, mine must be one of them.

Summary: Great value
Review: I am not in the greatest shape, but this DVD is very adaptable to my needs and has allowed me to grow and improve. I have used it for over a month and a half and I can now do things I never thought I could. The instructor's cues are clear and concise. It is somewhat of a straightforward instruction style, not so sticky sweet, which I prefer but if you need a cheerleader pushing you on this might not be for you. Overall, this DVD is a fantastic value and I am going to get some of their yoga titles now to try them out.

Summary: a mixed review for Pilates Complete DVD
Review: Despite the glowing praise of other reviewers, this DVD has some serious technical drawbacks, and it is distinctly inferior to the Classical Pilates Technique: Complete Mat Workout. Garcia usually has picture-perfect form, though she cannot do the rollup without breaking form and wiggling. Her voiceover can be really annoying, too. Still, she is a very good demonstrator of classical Pilates technique. And a menu of four hours of Pilates workouts is a wonderfully useful idea; unfortunately, about 20% of the time is taken up with repeated intertitle cautions and disclaimers--every single workout starts out with several minutes of these intertitles! Then, too, the workouts are frequently broken up by long black silences as the DVD searches for the bits to include in the workout. You can almost eat breakfast waiting for the sequence to continue. The continuity and flow of the Classical Pilates Technique DVD is missing. If you have to choose between the two, there's no question of which is better.

Summary: Well, what can I say...
Review: This DVD is curious in that it claims to have 35 workouts. If any DVD had 35 workouts it should be at least 12-15 hours long. Actually this DVD has 35 partial workouts. Although the model seems to demonstrate Pilates with precision, the voice instruction is not pleasing and the verbal cues seem flat. I would suggest the Pilates for Dummies DVD and Classical Pilates DVD because, together, they span the entire specturm of complete workouts.

Summary: Bring on the summer clothes
Review: I've been using this DVD 4 times a week for about 3 months and I love it. The instructor is very precise and the routines are effective. I started with Intermediate routines and now I'm doing mostly the Intermediate/Advanced and Intermediate. After a month I felt it working, and now it's really starting to show. For the first time in many years I'm looking forward to wearing shorts, tank tops and even bathing suits. My abs have definition, my thighs are firm and my bottom is getting visibly toned and defined (no more jello giggle). I wasn't overweight so I don't know what results you'd get if you need to lose and tone, but if you just need to really firm things up, you'll see results. The instructor isn't bubbly and the set isn't much, but the instruction and effectiveness are great so I'm happy.

At the levels I'm using most of the routines are 20 or 25 min. I thought that was short, but these routines go right through (just like a mat class) so you aren't pausing between moves to have the instructor set up the next excercise. You learn how to do the excersises in an introduction section at each level. When I want something longer, I do a 25 min routine at my level, and do the introduction to the next level. Once I can do those excercises correctly, I'll try some of the harder routines.

Summary: Uninspiring
Review: When someone makes a video, I look for inspiration, passion, and dedication. This video appears nearly clinical with correctness, but I did not think the model expressed vitality or muscularity. Another point is that the verbal instruction did not feel inpiring. Am I the only one, or did anyone else think it's impossible to put 35 workouts on one DVD? There are a lot of DVDs on Pilates. I suggest checking out some of the others.

Summary: Great Buy
Review: I love this DVD. It is fun, and you see and feel results within a week. Although, some of the workouts are labeled wrong. The 20 minute workouts are really only 10, the ones labeled 10 are 15. Once you go through and note all the mistakes, it is a great workout.

Summary: Wonderful Variations
Review: This video is a perfect for me. It really helped me learn the details of the practice. Sometimes the variations are subtle and at first I didn't notice them and things seemed a bit repetitive, but over time I realized the subtle variations added up to me being able to do much harder poses without hurting myself. I can't believe all the wonderful attention to detail and repitition that the teacher put into it, it really pays off. It took me from being a beginner to being able to do the mat routine at an intermediate level. My friend told me that real Pilates is a set routine so these variations are not radically different from one another. She has been doing Pilates for some time and said she couldn't believe that someone captured authentic Pilates on a video! I am so thankful they did! If you are looking for someone to be smiling at the camera and cheering you on in a cheesy way (which I hate), this might not be for you. If you want a well thought out path to doing authentic Pilates, look no further.

Summary: Very Good
Review: I liked this DVD because of the different levels offered from basic to advanced and because of the different lengths of routines. I can pick levels based on how I feel and how much time I have. I have even used the short routines as a warm up to other exercises. It has a lot of repitition from one routine to the next with a few changes, but for the amateur or not to serious it is a good DVD with proper pilates positioning. It is definately a no frills DVD, but for the person who wants to add pilates to their exercise regime, I highly recommend this DVD.
I also like this DVD because my kids will do it with me. It makes it even more fun.
GAIM DVD with Ana Coban is also very good.

Summary: Real pilates, very good
Review: I really like this DVD. Most of the other Pilates DVDs available are just the popular fitness divas who decided to jump on a bandwagon and BASE a workout on Pilates. This is really a certified instructor and a real Pilates program. I don't need fancy sets and snazzy music, I need a qualified instructor who will show me the proper way to do the exercises and not hurt myself. This DVD promises to be very versatile and will be good for me as I progress in strength and flexibility.
