Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: I used this workout through all 3 of my pregnancies, right until the last days. It helped me to be more physically prepared for the delivery and recovery. I always felt so much better after doing this workout, even if it was the only thing I did in a day!

Summary: Cured my leg cramps!
Review: I thought calf muscle stretching was all I needed to alleviate nighttime leg cramps, but I noticed within a week of getting this video that my leg cramps were completely cured, thanks to the calf-raises in the toning section. When had sinusitis for a week or so, and stopped exercising altogether, the cramps came back. After I started doing the video again, the cramps disappeared again. So for me, this video has helped me get a better night's sleep.

I love the aerobics (alot of arm work and you'll definitely break a light sweat), but as I get further along (almost 36weeks now) I find the fast-paced grapevine move and the 4-step across the room tougher to do. I thought rapid changes in direction were not advised in pregnancy? Also, the prego shuffle rap is so bad, embarassing, and useless that it's not worth a mention. Oh well...still an excellent video, includes women of many shapes and sizes, and a good choice for intermediate/advanced exercisers.

Summary: Has everything
Review: This is my favorite pregnancy workout video/DVD. It has a warm-up, 3 areobics sessions, a leg workout, an arm & back workout, abdominal workout, stretching & relaxation. What it includes is done in a reasonable time frame, I do the whole video every time. I love this pregnancy workout because it's most similar to the workout I was doing before pregnancy but I can be comfotable that it's good for me and my baby and it includes special exercises for pregnancy & labor preparation. Kathy Smith and the other pregnant women in the video are fun to watch and follow. 5 stars!

Summary: I wish I could recommend this DVD, but I can't.
Review: I haven't used aerobics videos regularly for years, but I have fond memories of Kathy Smith's 1991 Fat Burning Workout among others, so I ordered her Pregnancy Workout DVD in my 6th month of pregnancy. Even though I hadn't been doing aerobics, I had been doing yoga and walking throughout pregnancy. I bought Kathy Smith's DVD and Leisa Hart's FitMama video at the same time to add variety to my exercise program. Although I used FitMama up until delivery, I only used the Kathy Smith DVD once.

The 40 minute pre-natal workout includes many familiar moves from other 80's and 90's era Kathy Smith videos including the grapevine, the step-touch, trombone arms, and sunburst arms. It looked like fun, but when I tried it, I felt dangerously off-balance, particularly during the knee-raises. (In contrast, I enjoyed the FitMama salsa dance and always felt well-grounded.) In addition, the Prego Shuffle rap was as embarrassing as a looking back at a bad yearbook photo.

It's also disappointing as a DVD. It's really just a video slapped into the DVD format with a cursory attempt at a navigation menu. It even has a reminder to zero your VCR counter at the start of the workout. The menu is split onto 2 pages and hard to navigate. It should at least have a one page top-level menu that provides the option to watch the introduction, start the workout, go to a sub-menu of chapters for the workout, and access special features such as the post-natal portion. The ability to do the workout to music without instruction would also be a nice DVD touch.

In spite of its problems, it has some nice points including the pregnancy posture check, the post-natal information, and the FAQ with answers from OBs (circa 1988, so check with your physician for more current guidelines). One of the doctor's statements nicely described the proper attitude for prenatal exercise, namely that pregnancy is not the time to start a rigorous new program to get in shape and that it's important to listen to your body and respect its new limitations.

I wish I could recommend this DVD. Perhaps if I had started using it earlier in pregnancy, I would have gotten used to my changes in balance gradually and I would have liked the workout more. This DVD might work for you if you start earlier than I did and if you like Kathy Smith enough to can get a sense of nostalgia about the dated music, costumes and moves instead of rejecting the workout for those reasons alone. Even so, I would only suggest this program in addition to a more current one, such as FitMama.

Summary: lacks safety for all prego moms, toooo old, info outdated
Review: i tried this video because Kathy Smith has so many good videos, but I do not trust the info that is presented. it seems as though medicine and fitness has improved in the past 15 years, and this is some old retro video that should not still be sold. I like Kathy, but I do not like the old clothing, overly dancy moves that are so bouncy, and I can't stand the atmosphere of this workout. I would much rather do Leisa Hart's FitMama video, it's new and safe. But then again, this is the internet, and we all can differ in opinion!

Summary: If you can't dance, this is NOT a good beginer arrobics vide
Review: If you can't be tought to do dances like the electric slide because you just are not coordinated enough... if you tand to step on your husbands feet when you dance with him... then this is WAY to complicated for you. Don't believe reviews saying this is a good beginer arrobics video. If you are a realy beginer the compicated dance like moves will leave you standing in your living room scratching your head wondering when you signed up to audition to be a back up dnacer for a Janet Jackson music video. I totally regret this purchase.

Summary: Great program!!!
Review: This work-out is excellent! The prenatal work-out itself is just under one hour, but on the DVD there is other footage where she offers excellent advice for technique and things like that, and there is also comentary from three OBs about exercise and pregnancy. Kathy does such a great job of explaining moves and gives great caution where it is needed. What people need to understand is that this work out is made to concentarte more on the heart and circulation rather than a high impact work-out. I like to do it in the morning and it gives me just the "pick-me-up" that my body needs. A good friend of mine is trying to get pregnant and when she does I am going to buy this for her!!!

Summary: It's old, but I still found it helpful in 2003
Review: This workout has been filmed during Kathy's second pregnancy. It includes a warm-up or "energizer" as Kathy calls it, as well as 3 aerobics segments which are fun and easy to follow. There is a separate segment for toning the legs, arms (light weights are optional) and even exercises for the pregnant women's abs. I've used this video workout in my second pregnancy and found it very helpful. It's true, it is quite old and could be dissmised as outdated (although I for one am more interested in what a workout itself has to offer rather than complain about the music or outfits), but I think the exercises and advice on the video are still standing today.Kathy looks great and is inspiring as always. And the workout works! It worked for me, kept me in much better shape with my second pregnancy than with my first (when I was younger and also did other pregnancy video workouts), it helped me understand better how exercise improves our pregnant body and the postpartum tips given by Kathy were appreciated as well.

Summary: Best Pregnancy Workout
Review: I was using Denise Austin's tapes for about six months until I got so bored that I needed a change. Fortunately, I came across Kathy Smith's Pregnancy workout and gave it a try. Well, it definitely was a challenge as opposed to Denise Austin's. I didn't realize that exercising harder in Kathy's tape was okay during pregnancy, and I definitely stayed in shape the whole time with this video. I recommend this video to anyone who worked out before, and wants to remain in shape. The only downfall is that it was a little outdated, but the good workout compensated for that!

Summary: Perfectly well rounded workout
Review: This workout has it all!! You get a great warm up,aerobic workout and toning session. The aerobic session is broken into 3 segments wich is great because it seems to go faster and if you are a beginner you can skip a segment or two and go strait to toning. Everything is fun and easy. between segments you check your heart rate and one time she puts up the borg scale. The toning segment is great because she does both upper and lower body, with lots of kegels. After the prenatal routine Kathy gives you exercises for the postnatal period she even breaks it down into the first through third day after and then weekly. So you know exactly what to do and when to do it. This video may be old but you would never know it except by the outfits of the other women. Kathy also has women from every stage of pregnancy there, wich helps inspire you. I have 3 pregnancy workout videos and this is my favorite. Another good one is Leisa Hart's fitmamma.
