Summary: Its Great!
Review: It a great work out tape, but Kathy pushes you and its easy to get out of breath. Its hard to keep up, but even as uncordinated as I am I like it. I wouldn't reccomend it to anybody w/ babies due to the amount it takes.

Summary: not worth the money
Review: One of those girlie DVDs. I don't understand why Kathie Smith didn't leave all the kickboxing to the guy, Jeff Cooke. This guy has the power, speed and aggressiveness that I want to see in a kickboxing DVD.
Otherwise I'd buy one of the countless aerobic DVDs.
The movements of the girls look like dancing.

The TaiChi "thing" is ridiculous and has absolutely nothing to do with TaiChi.

Next time, move Kathie and her girls to the back row and let Jeff do the kickboxing and there you have it, a good workout DVD.

Summary: excellent! but just like the VHS
Review: I hesitated over the rating of this DVD. On its own, it is wonderful -- the workout is fun and energizing (though not designed for the advanced exerciser), the cueing is excellent, and the attention paid to form is worthy of an award. My hesitation comes from the disappointment over the lack of "special features." Specifically, I purchased the VHS version of the workout almost a year ago and was hoping to get something extra from the DVD -- but that proved to be an inaccurate expectation. Aside from an additional 2 or 3 minute kicking session and some fancy additional angles the DVD did not differ from the tape.

Still, if you do not have the tape already, this is one of the best Kathy Smith workouts -- and well worth the price!

Summary: This Kickboxing Video is a Definite!!!
Review: I've been doing exercise videos "sporadically" for years, including Kathy Smith. I tend to get bored really quickly and give them up. This one I haven't gotten bored with yet because the moves are diverse and you can always kick higher, jump higher and punch harder. And face it, punching, jabbing and kicking are rather fun and a stress release at the same time. What I like mostly about kickboxing, however, is the change in the shape of my body, and I am 50 years old. My upper arms, legs and hips have taken on a sculpted look, whereas in other exercises they tend to just reduce in size. I think it's because of the great upper body workout and kicks. I just wish K.S. would make another one with more kickboxing routines.

Summary: Good way to add variety to a fitness program
Review: I own many of Kathy Smith's videos, most of which are traditional aerobics routines. Adding this video in to the rotation (as well her Aerobox tape) has added some variety into my fitness program. It is a good way to have a change of pace every now and then. It starts off with Keith Cooke and Kathy Smith giving a lesson on how to have a proper stance. This is fairly important to help you get the moves correct. You have invision an imaginary opponent--which seems to add more of a mental component to the routine rather than just physical. Kathy's instruction is very thorough in this video, but since this is a much different routine than many people who do aerobics are used to, it will probably take several times to get the routine down. Still, it is fun and worth the effort to add some variety.

As far as Kathy being "annoying" as other reviewers have charged, all Kathy seems to do in this video is let you know what moves are coming next and how many repetitions remain, just as she does in all her tapes. I personally find this to be helpful.

Summary: This is the best kickboxing workout on the market!
Review: This video is the best kickboxing workout on the market right now. It is much better than Tae Bo. Kathy Smith's videos are always high quality and this is no exception. In this video Smith has enlisted the help of Keith Cooke, a kickboxing champion so that the moves are done correctly. The people in this video look like actual kickboxers (unlike some other videos out there). Before the workout, Smith and Cooke take the time to teach correct form and how to do all the moves. The routine is very easy to follow with good directions and choreography. It is not at all boring - I use this video all the time. It is perfect for beginner through advanced and Kathy shows modifications for all levels. At the end of the 30 minute workout there is an extra "buns and thighs kicking drill" which is great for toning. I highly recommend this video!

Summary: great alternative to tae bo!!
Review: I've been doing taebo for awhile now,but needed a change. I just received my video yesterday and have tried it once, but I can tell that I am going to enjoy it. I am not that coordinated either, but I am satisfied with going at my own pace with any video I do. If I am a little behind, slower , or just have to walk in place for a few, that's fine with me.

Summary: kathy smith's kickboxing workout
Review: I hate to disagree with all the positive reviews (which is why I bought the tape), but this is not a tape for beginners. Actually, I've been doing kick boxing exercises for about six months when I got this tape. I still found it too complicated to get into easily. The moves change quickly from one to another, so I was always behind and off balance. I suppose that would improve with time. Don't get this unless you are pretty well coordinated. In all fairness, I am older and not terribly well coordinated.

Summary: Had to buy the DVD too!!!!
Review: I had this tape on VHS and I just had to do it, I bought it on DVD, and I am so glad that I did. It was worth the money spent on the VHS and DVD combined! DVD is excellent for workouts especially in this one. There is so much more to the DVD than the VHS. The only thing I think you should know is that it says there are two complete workouts on this version and there are not. I was under the impression that there would be a completely different 25 minute session on the DVD version. Okay, NO, but that's Okay! It was STILL worth it. Even though it was minus the extra cardio workout I had anticipated, it does have an extra session, one-on-one, with Keith Cook. It features some Tae Chi Breathing and stregthening exercises as well as some challenging, smooth and fun combinations. In addition there is an extra segment of stretching with Kelly Roberts, and the option to customize your workout (not possible on VHS). I just can't get enough of this workout, it is so much fun to come back to again and again. A MUST FOR ANY KICKBOXING FAN'S WORKOUT LIBRARY!
