Rating: Summary: Moves for the Unmovable Review: I ran this tape for the first time tonight. I am 80 lbs. overweight and haven't had such a great time moving in 20 years! It's fabulous, sexy, fun and a godsend for me. If you need help and motivation getting yourself moving again, try this one!
Rating: Summary: Brazilian Dance Workout Review: I really enjoyed this workout. I do a lot of weight training and Tae Bo, so I wanted something a bit more feminine that would still work up a sweat. This was it! The dancers are regular people, the rhythm is contagious, and even though it takes doing it a few times to get the moves down, it's worth the effort. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it doesn't burn as many calories as Tae Bo, and I would like to find a dance-based workout that does. However, even if you're a beginner, this is a great cardio workout!
Rating: Summary: Give this video a try, you won't be disappointed Review: I really love this video. I work out to it often. It provides a great workout and makes you enjoy the time you spend working out. I especially like the live drumming which makes you want to move.
Rating: Summary: Great workout for all shapes & sizes Review: I tried this work-out once and was hooked! I use it on alternating days between high intensity kickboxing work-outs. But don't get me wrong-- you WILL get your heart rate up and you WILL sweat. You'll just feel really good doing it! The difference is that this is a work-out for ALL fitness levels since the movements can be adapted to your own body's needs or comfort level. The best part of this work-out is how you feel doing it. Since you're learning and dancing to incredible live music, you hardly notice how much of a full body work-out you're getting. By the 3rd or 4th time you use the work-out you'll have learned most of the basic movements so you can just really DANCE and have fun! Its a great low-impact work-out for almost anyone who wants to really dance. I'm even buying a copy for my mother for her birthday this year!
Rating: Summary: Brazilian Dance Workout Review: I was searching for a fun way to do cardio and absolutely love this workout. It's a great blend of exercise and dance routines. It might take a couple of attempts to learn all the dance moves. However, once you do, the routine flows naturally. Plus, the music is infectious and upbeat. I highly recommend this video for anyone trying to find "alternative" methods of working out.
Rating: Summary: Not impressed Review: More of a "how to learn dance" than a workout video. The video is broken into 2 sections. First is the Afro-Brazilian style of dance. She only goes through the moves twice at half tempo. Then you run through the whole thing from the beginning. This music is not so bad but the music on the second part with the salsa moves is cloying. One beat going on and on.
You run through both sections at the end only 2 times. So, after you do learn all the steps, it does nothing to get your heart rate up.
Not recommended and the end salsa steps are not good for your knees!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful alternative for a great cardio workout Review: The Brazilian Dance Workout, is a great way to keep in shape not to mention A LOT of fun. Those who say, they did not break a sweat doing this, obviously did not do the steps correctly, or didn't even attempt to. If you have rythym in you heart and soul, you can do these steps with almost no problems. Let the drum beats guide you, and you can feel it happen through your body. A wonderful and creative way to have an effective cardio workout, instead of the boring jog on the treadmill.
Rating: Summary: FORGET THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS, THIS VIDEO IS EXCELLENT! Review: The Brazilian Workout Video is authentic and excellent in every way. This is a must have and do at any exercise level!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not so good for beginners Review: The workout is excellent once you know what you're doing, and even if you don't know what you're doing, as long as you try to follow along, you're getting a good workout. HOWEVER, I had a lot of trouble at first. The steps are demonstrated once or twice in 1/2 time only, instead of slowly enough for you to really see what they're doing. If you're good at dance or you don't really care, go for it. Otherwise, you might want to wait until you're more advanced.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic workout; wonderful instructor Review: This is a fabulous and incredibly fun workout tape. Not only do you learn some genuine Brazilian dance moves, you really get a serious workout.
Vanessa Isaac is a terrific teacher. She breaks down the moves nicely and her joy is infectious. There've actually been a couple of times that I was gloomy when I went out to exercise and absolutely brimming with joy when I finished this workout. It's not just exercise; it's a legal upper. I will definitely watch for anything and everything Vanessa Isaac teaches in the future and buy it. If you like to really move and find other exercise programs boring, this one to go for.
