Summary: Streets of Fire
Review: This is one of the best movies ever made - It is a spoof that knows it is a spoof - very good dialogue and absolutely great music! "In the Blue Shadow" is one of the all-time "best-ever" rock and roll songs. Ry Cooter is a genius.

Extremely well done - excellent casting - A movie to see multiple times - I first bought it an a CD just to have it, and later purchased it on VHS, and then DVD. The sound track is also very much worth having.

Somehow or other this movie got lost "in-the-cracks." It makes one wonder about the value of the critics.

Essential for any collection!

Summary: DIANE LANE shines in STREETS OF FIRE
Review: I loved this film as a teenager and still love it now. It is innocent rock'n'roll comic book stuff that is both stylish and entertaining. The film has notable performances by some actors who later became big stars. DIANE LANE who is now a big star thanks to her lead roles in "The Perfect Storm", "Unfaithful", "Judge Dredd" etc is great as Ellen Aim, and WILLEM DAFOE (SpiderMan) is the bad guy. Great DVD and VHS quality, but I'd go for the DVD if you can.

Summary: Another time, another place....
Review: I've got the DVD, I've got the VHS, I've got the soundtrack, and ,if I could find it, I'd have the poster up on my wall. I've heard people dismiss this as another 50's nostalgia movie. It ain't. Sure, there is an overall atmosphere that could be late 40's or 50's- or it could be anytime, now or a 100 years from now. This really is a rock and roll fable, because fables have a timeless, immortal quality to them. Fables also reach something deep down in you instead of skipping across the surface of your mind. I've probably seen thousands of movies since this was first realeased, yet I remember this one. I keep coming back to it when I want to feel better, when I want to feel something....
I don't know, maybe this is set in rock and roll heaven- where we all get to be Tom Cody if we're good.

Summary: A Rock & Roll Fable
Review: This is an intense film that really draws you in, Walter Hill(48 HRS.) directed this & it shows, the film begins at a concert that is about to get underway, once it does, you actually feel as if your in attendence, Diane Lane absolutely shines as the lead singer, the opening song is fast-paced & powerful as Lane is convincing in her performance, this film is reminicent of the 50's in that a motorcycle gang led by a younger Willem Dafoe, is on the prowl to kidnap Lane & succeeds by crashing her concert, the film then progresses to the opening where we are introduced to Michael Pare' as Lane's former boyfriend who is hired by her manager Billy played by Rick Moranis who looks as geeky as ever, to get her back, Pare' is still smitten with Lane but stubborn about their seperation, he later teams with a two-fisted hellraiser in the form of Amy Madigan who helps him get Lane, they soon head that way, Willem Dafoe who would later go on to superstardom is perfectly cast as Raven who apparently has a crush on Lane, the obvious reason for kidnapping her, Pare' & Madigan soon storm his place & retrieve Lane, Pare' & Dafoe soon meet face to face in which Dafoe declares that Pare' is a dead man, this could easily be a movie about motorcycle gangs, but Hill avoids making it to obvious, there is love overtones with Lane & Pare' who have great chemistry, you almost want them back together, but know it won't likely happen, the showdown between Dafoe & Pare' is neat in itself, the music here is awesome with a 1950's feel & 80's sound, Lane's closing song is powerful in that it catches the attention of Pare', you know he still loves her but can't be with her simply because it is not his style, Dan Hartman's "I can dream about you" is here as her opening act, I finally got this on DVD & it is awesome, it is the best picture of this movie that I have seen, although many cast members went on to bigger things Pare' however never got better films, best known as Eddie in "Eddie in the Cruisers", his last best known role was Sandra Bullock's cheating husband in "Hope Floats" in which he has maybe 10 minutes of screen time, Pare' is really an under rated actor that like many never got a fair chance, hopefully he will make a comeback.

Summary: Classic Postmodern Entertainment
Review: To take Streets of Fire literally is to not get it. The movie is a slice of life in a post apocalyptic alternate universe. The stylistic justapositions of 40's and 50's cars and 80's fashion and Jim Steinmen songs are characterizations of this post nuclear fractured world Walter Hill created. Remember the Warriors?

The movie is a triumph of style over substance and succeeds to the level of near cult status. I am reminded of Flashdance's success, which practically succeeded in spite of itself. There are no profundities in the movie; the plot is basic; the acting did not garner any award nominations. Nevetheless, I am charmed everytime I view it. I always become perplexed however when I see SOF at why and how Diane Lane has never become the major movie star she clearly is in this movie. If you liked the movie prior to DVD, you will treasure it in DVD.

Summary: Let's Escape for a While
Review: I cannot remember how long ago it was when I first saw this movie, but it made such an impression, I could/can never forget it. I loved all the songs, and Michael Pare was fantasy come true. I loved Diane Lane as the strong, fiesty, yet sensitive rock n'roll-ete. This movie is good to escape in, especially these days, even if you don't buy, rent it and just get lost. PS Look for a young Robert Townsend, Olivia Brown, Richard Lawson, and Amy Madigan.

Summary: Streets Of Fire-THE Rock & Roll Fable
Review: My favorite movie since i was able to work a VCR. It's got everything you could want, great music, a flash car, a hot babe, guns, and a fight with sledgehammers. Even if you don't like rock and roll it's a great action movie. If you're into this movie you'd probably wanna get the cd or vynil(i dunno if they still make it but i got 1).
It's about about a singer called Ellen Ame who gets kidnapped by the leader of a motorcycle gang, and how her ex-boyfriend Tom Cody goes about getting her back.

Like I said it's a great movie and definatly worth buying, so buy it........or something.

Summary: DIANE LANE stars in STREETS OF FIRE. A classic!
Review: This comic book stylized film starring the ever wonderful DIANE LANE (The Perfect Storm, Hardball, Judge Dredd) truly deserves it's status as a cult classic. The soundtrack rocks and the imagery is sensational. It's style is unlike anything else and it is a brave and entertaining attempt at doing something different. The film is also notable for early roles for the aforementioned Diane Lane, but also Bill Paxton and William Dafoe. A true classic! 100% recommended especially for Diane Lane and director Walter Hill fans.

Summary: Hear no evil...
Review: Surprisingly lousey sound, especially for a rock n roll "fable."
The better your sound system, the more disappointing.
Figure the songs are supposed to be the bright spots in a dead script... and you get the point.

Summary: fun movie...great music
Review: streets of fire is really just a lot of fun to watch...over and over and over again -- the music is first rate -- the intro song (nowhere fast)and ending song(tonite is what it means to be young) are as good as it gets -- you really just want to crank up the stereo with those two songs -- i think jim steinman is the name of the guy of wrote the songs(also he wrote meat loaf's paradise by the dashboard light) -- the plot line is light but enjoyable -- good score by ry cooder as well -- if you like michael pare in this, you'll also like "eddie and the cruisers", another good rock'n roll movie -- diane lane is an underrated and beautiful actress as the lead singer -- you can't go wrong with this if you just want to hang out and relax...and then crank up the volume -- really, you can't go wrong with this movie --
