Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: iF THE STORY IS COMPLETELY TRUE THEN BILL CLINTON SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH TREASON FOR NOT LETING THOSE MEN HAVE ARMOR. THERE IS NO DEFENSE FOR PUTTING U.S. SOLDIERS IN HARMS WAY WITHOUT THE CORRECT TOOLS. BILL SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: WUPPP!!!!!
Review: What can i say, if u like shooting it up attack like the end of saving private ryan, then u would love this movie. It capture exactly what had happen and very convincable too. One thing i find not too convincing is that too many bullets were misses from both side but i assume that how it happen. It's sad to go in there without full support or intelligence to help. Do milatary personal say 'wupp!!' all the time? i didn't hear any of that in other war movies. So do i recommend this film for viewing? WUP!

Summary: Great Film
Review: This has to be on of the finest war movies ever made. From beginning to end. The cast is excellent also. Though i found it easier to understand it once i read the book, it is still a great film. From Jamie Smiths death, to teh defense of the second crash you can hardly hold back tears. The best film of the year.

Summary: stunning, gripping, tense.. black hawk down rules
Review: watching this movie feels like youre watching CNN, only with much better camera work. dont get bogged down too much by plot or dialogue or even acting for that matter, because this film is about one thing: ACTION. i have never seen a movie quite like this one. the battle scenes (pretty much the whole movie) are simply amazing. you will be in awe of just how real this movie feels. it portrays war exactly how it is: crazy and gritty. i cant stop singing the praises of the way this movie smacks you in the head with both audio AND visual. turn off the lights, turn UP your surround sound, and prepare to be blown away!

Summary: Black Hawk Failure
Review: I am going to be to the point. DO NOT BUY THIS DVD. WHY?

1) No features
2) Full Metal Jacket beats this movie
3) Acting so-so
4) Story okay but not good enough for you to spend full price.
5) It is too long and never gets to the point.
6) No minorities at least not enough and they were in a Africa(HELLO)
7) Leave no man behind? They left and made them run- patriotic enough for you.

If you are into war then buy it- but at least buy it for less. Go somewhere else and buy it full 50% off or something. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

If you aren't into war movies- simply pass by.

If you are into war movies so-so buy something else.

Simple enough for you?

Summary: An intelligent
Review: Unlike conventional "thrillers" that depend on car chases and well-timed explosions as their high-points, this movie has as much "action" or more than any of these, and yet offers much, much more. No, it's not really a thriller, but for those who go to movies to see people get shot up and blown up, you will not be disappointed by seeing this one.

While you're there, you'll also be treated to a terrific handling of action in the context of an entire movie. Instead of the conventional "let's drop the plot for awhile and have a chase scene" scenario, this movie relentlessly puts you in a battle situation where there is the unending possibility of getting whacked any second. And the "good guys" in this one seem to lose as much as the bad guys.

But while excelling with it's portrayal of violence, where it shines is it's plot setting. We in the U.S., while cruel to say, are getting such a regular diet of newspaper articles talking about masses of people getting wiped out in foreign countries that we're actually getting jaded. While sad, it is human nature, and with AIDS ravaging a lot of Africa, and the Middle East dominating the newspapers, many would be pressed to even explain what the big deal about Somalia was

But with all that, what is most astonishing about the film is that there seems to be no practical way to stop this. While we would love to be heros and rescue the world, we find that without massive resources committing time, money, and lives, there isn't much we can do about it. The frustration of the soldiers is well shown, but as the residents of that country put it, "It's our Civil War, and you don't belong here". When the American troops find that the enemy they greatly underestimated is indeed far more armed and committed than they expected, you have to sadly conclude that they might be right.

Summary: A Heart Thumping Experience that Makes One Proud
Review: I read the book. I saw the movie. The movie is a faithful transcription to the screen of the book it is based upon. The director and story editor did an outstanding job of compressing Mr. Bowden's book into its screen version. The musical score is perfect. As previosuly written in a review of Band of Brothers, Black Hawk Down is so much more honest and therefore, better than Saving Private Ryan because it is the truth. There are no throwaway characters reflecting the moral quivering of should I fire my weapon that you had in the character Oppen in Saving Private Ryan. You have young men and older men being their human best in a situation totally unexpected. You do not need some Oppen character and his cowardice to understand the terror that many of the men felt during the firefight that the movie conveys. The movie shows their fear and their dedication to their oath and fellow soldier. Unlike the review in Slate.com, the book and the movie are not social commentaries on whether a war is just or not or how many blacks should constitute a unit, etc. Do not view this movie for that, just as one would not watch (original or remake) Stalingrad for some social commentary on the [Jewish people]. This is a movie faithful to depicting a sobering day in the history of the US Army and this country and our attempts at doing good in the world. This is a great movie.

Summary: LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND!
Review: This movie goes on my top ten list. Black Hawk Down is a great movie and if you haven't seen it yet I'm going to tell you to buy it NOW! It is sad and tells the story that didn't really get out. First I heard the movie was going to be pretty gory so I read the wonderful book by Mark Bowdin (highly recommended) and that book was awesome so I just had to see the movie. The movie was pretty gory like I had heard but it tells and shows you what happened and how it must of felt like being there in Somalia on the October day in 1993! GO SEE THIS MOVIE! YOU WILL BE THANKFUL YOU DID!

Summary: Good movie, very violent
Review: The first thing that struck me about this movie was how true it was to mark Bowden's book in conveying the sense of chaos and destruction surrounding the disastrous military attack in Somalia's Bakara Market. The second thing was that while this movie isn't Saving Private Ryan, it is incredibly bloody. If you're a fan of war movies, like I am, then this is an excellent, powerful film - but be forewarned that the violence is more intense than almost any other movie out there.

Summary: A good reminder
Review: Few can say they have witnessed the horror of war or the bravery of those who serve. Hollywood has tried again and again to educate us citizens on this but usually give in to the $$$ and show us what we want to see. This movie however is one of the few that actually tries to bring the audience as close to raw war as possible in order to enhance our understanding of it. If you want a fictional story set in an actual war or maybe even a love story on the side then this movie is not for you. War is not pleasent or fun and should not be portrayed as such, (Pear Harbor). If you think you already know all there is to know about what happened over there and how it affected both nations then get over yourself, because you probably dont.
This movie is a little hard to follow the fist time through but has exellent visuals and leaves most that watch it feeling sad, empty, and maybe a little proud; which I think is a good tribute to those of any country who give so much and recieve so little thanks.
