Summary: Goodfellas is a flipper, of all the rotten luck!!!!
Review: An excellent way to ruin an INCREDIBLE movie is to put it on dvd and then make me have to get up and flip the damn thing halfway through. I don't have to do that with The Deer Hunter which is 3hrs long. I honestly think that you ruin the whole feel of the movie in those few seconds. And finally isn't this the reason most of us avoided buying laserdisc players?

Summary: FOUGETABOUTIT
Review: This is one of the most entertaining, captivating films that has ever been made. Watching it you feel as if you are part of the crew. Liotta, DeNiro, and especially Pesci are all great in this. These were the roles they were born to play. This movie transcends every genre -- drama, comedy, action you name it, it's in there.

Summary: This is the best mob film ever made!
Review: I have never seen a film with more stirring content and unflinching realism centered around organized crime. If I may be so bold as to say, I think this film is better than 'The Godfather' (as much as I adore that film). 'GoodFellas' pulls no punches in its depiction of a half-Irish/half-Sicilian kid from "the neighborhood" who becomes engulfed in the Mafia from age eleven. What Scorsese did with this film is like nothing I have ever seen. He spanned thirty years of Mafia life, and made it compelling and energetic. You get the feeling that this was their time, and it is incredible and intoxicating witnessing the luxurious lifestyle. Then as their downfall appears evident, as people begin getting killed left and right, even from their own crew, it is almost saddening to watch. For any fan of mob movies, or movies in general, this is a sure bet. The best film of the 1990s.

Summary: one of the greats
Review: this film is a masterpiece this movie ranks up there with the godfather part 111 and scarface (not with the godfather part1 and 11) a portrays a real gangster and shows the everyday life of one. It has a lot of violence but it is necessary. ONe of the top three films of the 90's and one of the greatest of all time.

Summary: Gorgeous and big
Review: Such a good movie. One of those movies where you're talking to somebody else about it, going "what about the scene when so-and-so happened..." Scene after scene gets permanently etched in your memory. Personal favorite is the end, the denouement, the Liotta-cooking-dinner-spotting-helicopters-hopped-up-on-coke scene. Best movie I've seen this decade.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I'm female and I love this movie. The fact that its based on truth made it all the more interesting to me. The only scene that makes me want to look away is the one with Joe Pesci and the guy in the trunk of the car. Ouch. Ray Liotta is so cute as Henry. This is one of those movies I can watch again and again.

Summary: THE BEST FILM OF THE 90'S!!!!
Review: An absolutely brillant masterpiece from America's greatest living filmmaker. The acting, dialogue, cinematography, editing, use of music and narrative structure are stunning. I admire this movie just a tad bit more than The Godfather (as great as that film is). Next to Taxi Driver, this is Scorsese's best effort. I think it's a crime the Oscars failed to recognize this as the Best Picture of 1990. That one still burns me. At any rate, this is one of my all time favs. and my choice for the best film of the nineties.

Summary: the most realistic mob movie ever/scorsese was on target.
Review: Goodfellas is the greatest movie ever..Personally, being 100% Italian and growing up in Brooklyn and Long Island, i had the chance to live very close to that lifestyle. I had seen many of the real life wiseguys that the actors played through my uncle.EVERYTHING about the movie is right on target.Especially the Long Island scenes. it looks exactly like Long Island.Rockville Centre to be exact cause that's where Henry's house is when Karen says,"Watch the wall with the rock..." I cant say enough about this movie. Martin Scorsese= greatest movie mind EVER....thanx 4 ur time.....

Summary: Tragic and very, very funny.
Review: I think this is a great movie (which is obviously why I gave it 5 stars), but I don't think it's the ultimate Martin Scorsese movie or the best gangster movie ever (Mean Streets takes both of those titles in my opinion). The first time I saw this movie it took my breath away, but the effect slowly diminishes after each viewing, and for that I think it's a little bit overrated (but it does seem to get funnier every time I watch it). I don't think it's the makers' fault that it isn't as good the second or third time, it's just the nature of the material. So much of Goodfellas relies on surprises, like a Hitchcock movie, but in a completely different way. The experience of watching it doesn't come from not knowing what will happen next, but from the sheer shock of what does happen. People get killed so fast, you barely have time to think about it.

Even if it isn't the same without the surprises, it is well worth watching over and over. The camera work, dialogue, direction, and music are all wonderful. Almost every single character with a speaking role is very sharply drawn (even the characters with only about a minute of screen time, like Spider and Henry's father and Lois the babysitter). Also, I think the reviewer from franklin, pa (the one who said this movie made him want to go out and me a gangster) missed the point of the movie. Goodfellas is NOT supposed to make you want to go out and be a gangster. In fact, is is supposed to make you NOT want to go out and be a gangster.
