Summary: Pretty pictures with in a picture and nothing more
Review: Granted, this movie appears campy with age, but it's Tom Cruise in several gorgeous pictures and that is what counts. While there is some reference to the (then) still raging Cold War, it is neither jingoistic pro or anti-military.

What it does (and I am sure the Navy can't be too happy about this image) is portray the Navy as one giant hollywood style frat party. Taken as reality, this movie implies fighter pilots live in great housing, have flawless looks and are dripping with women.

Except when Goose dies, the film does not delve into the emotions and psyche of the navy pilots and they are little more than three dimensional pinups for the female characters. Although there is a training school, no where is it mentioned how smart pilots have to be to get into the elite.

I am intrigued if the reccent decision to allow women to fly fighter jets in combat means there will be a Top Gun three which would actually focus on more than looks (part two was pretty bad) Tom Cruise is not horrible to look at, but thank goodness that he has improved both acting skills and plotlines.

Summary: "Top Gunsmoke"
Review: "Top Gun" was the first DVD that I officially purchased, and I was thoroughly pleased, even though the movie is fifteen years old. It is easily my favorite combat movie because "Top Gun" displays the process of going from an amateur to a professional and how intimidating being a pilot can be. Pilots get caught up in the moment, they lose focus, and other bad things. A very good combat movie indeed. Probably the least cheesy movie that I have seen that offers a main course of action/adventure and a side dish of relationships.

A lot of then-unpopular, but today stars are in this: the guy from ER, Val Kilmer(from "Red Planet", most recently) and who could forget the man of the hour, the go-getter, the cutup, the old school, the man, Maverick, Tom Cruise.

Good plot and storyline features good transition from seriousness to relaxation; from tension between fellow pilots to mourning over shocking losses; from an officer barely being rescued to a volleyball game. If there ever was a Hollywood Hall-of-Fame, this one would never be left out.

Summary: Airplanes are great
Review: The only thing worth watching in this film is the flying scenes. The rest of the movie is such bogus tripe that it is painful to watch. Use the fast forward key to skip to the flight scenes and ignore the rest.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: It is wonderful. It is funny and thrilling it is a great movie. I don't think many kids would like it but I did because I love fighter planes. The actors do a great job and it is a wonderful story.

Summary: The BEST of the best
Review: This is my favorite movie of all time! Most people don't believe me when I tell them I've watched it over 30 times, but yeah, I think 30 is about right.

This movie has everything, an interesting plot, characters you can relate to, action, drama, comedy, yeah ok, some romance too, but the awsome action sceens, the fights in the air (not to mention the ones on the ground) are really what make this movie so great.

I would recommend this movie to everyone, I have never met anyone in their right mind that didn't enjoy it. It will keep you on the edge of your seat untill the very end!

Review: After wearing out three copies of this movie on VHS I just had to get the DVD. This has to be one of the greatest movies of all time.

Summary: Looks great on dvd!
Review: This is another one of my favorites which I decided to get on dvd after watching my taped version off tv for years. The dvd looks great and sounds great as well. If anything they could of had more extras, but with the movie being as old as it was it could have been tough to come up with any supplimental materials. None the less this is one great movie, with some absolutly amazing aerial photography, which hasn't been matched since.

Summary: This movie rocked!!`
Review: I thought that this movie was incredible for it's time and how much of the actuall movie was true; based on the fact that there actually is a school out in miramar California named top gun for the best of the best pilots in the navy. I thought that both kelly mcgillis and tom cruise did an excellent job together based on this movie and hope that they do more movies together

Summary: Top Gun this...
Review: Definitly a family classic. I remember heading to the movies with my family back on Memorial day weekend '86. An instant favorite. The story has it all: love, death, action, humor, inspiration. Tommy Cruise at his prime. Anthony Edwards before ER. The DVD version only adds to the adventure with crisp images of thundering jets- it feels like they're actually doing "fly-by's" in your living room. It's a great way to show off your soundsystem! My only wish about this version is that they should have included the Pepsi commercial which was originally a trailer to the movie. Not to worry, Tommy's stellar performance and Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" make up for it. "Sorry, boys. There's two "O's" in Goose." " Slider... you stink."

Summary: The best movie of all time
Review: Well, you can simply find every human element in this fantastic story: love, friendship, family relationship, battle, competition, lose and find, live and die, pride and honor. Maybe some other guy may say it's too straight, not complex enough, but hey, life is complex enough, why we can't come back to where our real heart is? This is the only movie I can go through again and again, and again. Great sound, great music, great script and great picture too. If I have only one DVD for collection, this would absolutely be the one!
