Summary: WHY IS TITANIC A BOX-OFFICE HIT?
Review: I have never seen Titanic, and I don't believe I ever will. I've read (and heard from other people who've seen the movie) that there's sexuality and nudity in this PG-13 film. Sure, it's an educational movie, to a certain degree, but why learn about history when there's back-alley ribaldry mixed in?

I watched "Sense & Sensibility" starring Kate Winslet, and thought she was an excellent actress. I still think she has great talent--- but why did she waste it in a movie that exposes children younger than 10 to sexuality? I'm asking you to consider the effects of buying Titanic. Sure, it may be 'only a movie,' but its influences are greater than you think.

Summary: not a movie, an experience
Review: you can't really think of this movie as anything typical, it's not. it is a giant spectacle of sight, sound and emotion. the simple fact that this film was made so well is the reason to see it. don't bicker about the love story or the sometimes poor dialogue or corny script, because it was meant to be that way, an old fashioned hollywood picture. say what you will, but it's still a great accomplishment. Summary: Great entertainment!
Review: I have one question for future trivia buffs -- how many times does Rose say "Jack" in this movie? After I watched it for the 3rd time, it occurred to me that about 70 percent of Kate Winslet's dialogue consists of her saying "Jack" -- ha! Loved it. END

Summary: Another Review
Review: It's me again. Many folks have e-mailed me asking which version is better. Standard or Wide-Screen. I have both but with this type of film I am going to have to say Standard is better.

Since this movie is half based on the true life stories of some of the characters (Molly Brown, the officer who shot himself, etc.) I think it is best to see it without the black above and below the screen.

To make this a proper review, I'd like to consider those who think Leo and Kate made the movie to think deeper. Get yourself into the actual events mood. Everyone has their opinion of course!

Again, James Cameron is the star of this movie by making a true story come alive in the 90's. END

Summary: Sorry
Review: My eariler review of this film"tasteless piece of crap, below) was irresponsible, and inappropriate. I am a great hypocrite to call Titanic fans idiots for liking the film when I gripe about them insulting my humanity for not liking it. I hope all is forgiven. My attitude towards the film itself, however is unchanged. I saw it as nothing more than a dime store novel dressed up with special effects;Twister mounted on the scale of grand romance. some argue that the introduction of fictional, modern characters on the ship was a strong asset, allowing us to experience the tragedy by being able to identify with the characters, while others see it as a travesty. I happen to belong to the latter. END

Summary: Tasteless bunch of crap
Review: If James Cameron wanted to honor the victims of Titanic, he would have observed 196 more minutes of silence. For those of you who can't figure that remark out (the average Titanic fan, I assume), I mean that the movie is a (subject line) which exploits a tragedy by adding a fictional, impossibly cliched romance in a grand marketing scheme. Fans come to us(Anti-titanic crusaders0 and say we have no respect for those who died. Of all the gall. People, it didn't happen, it couldn't have happened, You don't need to pay 29.95 for this END

Summary: One hell of a movie !
Review: I thought Titanic was an excellent movie that will indefinitely go down in cinematic history,The characters were beliveable, the SFX were mind-boggling and the soundtrack was very moving. It is by far my all-time favourite movie and all the attention it recieved,it deserved. In my opinion James Cameron should be knighted ! END

Summary: Great Effects, fair story
Review: This movie is worth seeing one time for the special effects. They are far superior to the 1950 movie "A night to remember", particularly at the end of the story. (The scene near the end with DiCaprio looking down at the water from the stern of the Titanic is stunning, to say the least.)

However, I feel that overall, the film "A night to Remember" is superior to this movie in recreating the feeling of that night.

The Captain was portayed as being incompetent and somewhat cowardly, which by all accounts he was just the opposite; the orchestra was actually playing happy music the night of the sinking, up till the end; 2ND Officer Lightoller was not in the movie, even though he was one of the few surviving officers; they didn't have a scene of some of the survivors sturggling to stay afloat on the overturned collapsable lifeboat (Lightoller was on there.); they didn't show Phillips in the radio room, staying at his post way past the "bitter end". In general, I would have expected more scenes with the officers. They didn't include any drama about the Californian - a ship just 10 miles away which was close enough to rescue all of the passengers.

For 3 1/2 hours, the movie could have spent more time with some of the more memorable events, especially since "A night to remember" does so in two hours running time. END

Summary: A simplistic device to make young girls swoon
Review: Think of this... if Titanic's male lead, DiCaprio, were replaced by a less attractive beau, albeit someone who could actually act, would this film be anywhere near as popular? The only thing that kept it from falling from the pile of mediocrity was the swoonable Leo, who's acting skills leave much to be desired. Matter of fact, the only notable performance was Kathy Bates. But it's not only the actors' fault -- the overrared Cameron wishes to stroke his ego once again by 'wowing' us with special effects, thus forgetting every other aspect of the film. Plus, the dialouge is just... well... I couldn't even tolerate the wooden, uninspired mess. By the time things were at the grand-scale tragedy that's been gloated over thousands of times over, I couldn't help but laugh at the two leads attempts at acting sad, frightened, or horrified. All-around, I couldn't recommend this film any more than the other special effect blockbusters of the summer, such as Godzilla and Armegeddon, which at least didn't try to disguise its mediocrity with pretentiousness. END

Summary: James Cameron is the "real" star of the movie!
Review: James Cameron did a fantastic re-creation of the tragic epic of Titanic. Using a lot of facts and minor fiction is what made this movie come alive. From the other Titanic movies, this one is over the top. Why? Because you focus on one situation (The love of Jack and Rose) and keep the rest in the distance but not out of the way. Other movies have 5 or more families and couples they focus on and it gets confusing keeping track. 2 Thumbs Up to Mr. Cameron. END
