Summary: Good Movie, but slow in some parts
Review: when i saw this movie at the theater, i wanted to be an ambluance driver!! i guess it was one of those movie that make the profession look a lot more exciting than it really is (aka twister). the movie itself is a good drama, although it does get a LITTLE slow (not too bad) the camera angles are great and the acting is superb. the DVD has some interviews but that's about it when it comes to extra features. overall, it's a good drama about paramedics.

Summary: Bringing Out The Dead is more proof of Scorsese's power
Review: Fast paced, great performances, and a great script make this the best Scorsese film since "Goodfellas". Cage gives his best performance since "Leaving Las Vegas" and the supporting cast from John Goodman(True Stories, Big Lebowski) to Tom Sizemore(Saving Private Ryan, Heat) back him up in this powerful film. You see a lot more ghosts then in "The 6th Sense".

Review: Being a Nicholas Cage Fan, I eagerly snapped up the DvD expecting Snake Eyes, Leaving Las Vegas Et Al, Sorry to say I was sorely dissapointed. The film has no continuity, The plot is thin to say the least, Cage must have been having a few down day's during Filming, The film seems to dray along leaving the viewer expecting the one scene that may drag this boreing Epilogue up from the cutting room floor, this does not happen. Sorry Nicholas this is a dog and even your previous great acting cannot make this a DvD anyone in their right mind would require for their collection. I Resold the DvD within hours of purchase.

Summary: Bringing Out the Dreck
Review: This movie's greatest sin is that it is utterly incomprehensible for a tedious 121 minutes and without the slightest redemption of a plot. To say Martin Scorsese "directed" this cacophonous and disjointed mess is an insult to the oeuvre of a director, who has seen better days and made better movies. The characters are completely without direction, wandering aimlessly through mind-numbingly boring vignettes that would have succeeded better if they had been presented as a spoof or parody of Taxi Driver (because of their sheer unbelievability) rather than this seriously misguided attempt at gritty urbanity. Nicolas Cage puts forth yet another lackluster performance. His character is devoid of any depth or subtlety and Cage is content to put pound the same monotonous note repeatedly in this film (though most of the blame must be laid at the wordprocessor of the screenwriter). Patricia Arquette is a talented actress but is completely wasted in this movie as we aren't given much insight into her gratuitous drug use and we are forced to savor a few lines from her where it appears there might be a cathartic epiphany in the movie only to have it snatched away by some random act of violence that needs to occur in the movie to further along the plot. Tom Sizemore plays a cliché of a cliché as a repugnant, racist ambulance driver who should have been given his walking papers a long time ago and whose only role is add a few more vile moments in an otherwise depressing story. Ving Rhames is the most dynamic character in the movie but his vignette is too brief to salvage anything and is undermined by the sheer silliness of the script (or the lack thereof). I had the misfortune of renting this movie and am compelled to issue the warning of caveat emptor. This movie is as DOA as the patients the ambulance drivers attempt to save in the movie and should be avoided with extreme prejudice.

Review: I wasn't that thrilled with this Scorsese release, but overall it was pretty good....Pick it up if you haven't seen AB, BJM, or Magnolia yet....You'll be glad you did.....but only on dVd..... You Talkin to me?

Summary: If you liked Taxi driver you will like this..
Review: I really think it desreves 3.5 stars, mainly because it is very very similiar to Taxi driver and it takes away from the originality of this movie... ON the bright side, there are enough differences that make this movie well worth the watch and even the own. I am not a big Cage fan, but he did an exceptionly well done actiing job, as did most of the cast. over all its worth a few watchings, maybe not the own, But I am sure there are worse movies we all own.

Review: I really hope you saw Bringing Out the Dead while it was in the theatre. I just saw it and thought it was most excellent. Truely a Martin Scorsee film. Impossible not to compare it to Taxi Driver and it stands up to it. Same beautiful cinematography. New York city night street scenes. Nicolas Cage is no Dinero but then again he is Cage and that works for me. He plays disturbed/deranged SO well. The music worked well too. I may have to get the soundtrack. Lot of nice blues but some rockers too, the tunes fit the scenes well. The Janis scene is a hoot. Some of the dialogue is brilliant and obviously taken straight from the book. I have to read it now. I recently saw Taxidriver again and don't think it ages well. A bit of a sacred cow perhaps. I am buying BOTD on DVD and putting it on the shelf with Casablanca and Mars Attacks.
