Summary: Scorsese at his best
Review: Well this is no Goodfellas or Taxi Driver, but Scorsese put on a great piece of film here. Nicolas Cage is amazing as a paranoic-insomniac EMT working during the night. Film in Ney York City, this movie was one of the best movies last year. Personally I think this movie is better than Casino which in my opinion is the worst film by Scorsese, a Goodfellas ripoff. Scorsese pursues human character and emotions in his films like he did in Taxi Driver, Bringin Out The Dead is no exeption. Amazing film, well cast, good acting especially by Cage and Marc Anthony as a junkie. Highly recommend this film.

Summary: Just awful
Review: I can't imagine the impulse people seem to have to praise this film, other than pure contrariness. There is: no plot; no character development (exactly where is the "redemption"? In killing a man on life support?); nothing likeable; nothing affirmed, reaffirmed, changed, transformed. There's not even the relief of violence, and the comedy ("but she is a vigin!") is so threadbare as to be almost invisible.

I like Nicholas Cage. Some of his work, such as "8mm," has been unjustly overlooked. But this film has been *justly* overlooked.

Summary: Its all in the title
Review: Frank Pierce is a paramedic at the end of his rope. During an arduous three-day stretch, he rides with three different partners and contemplates what he sees at the hopelessness of his job.

Summary: Interesting, but a bit over the top
Review: I expect to get blasted by Scorsese and Cage fans on this review. Being a Scorsese fan, I'm anxious to see anything he directs. This film tries too hard to be cutting edge. The constant fluctuating scenes where Scorsese alters between slow motion, then fast motion resembles an MTV music video. At times, the scenes look amazing, but at other times it just appears like someone in film school trying a bit too hard to be an artist. The perfomance by Cage, once again, gets old quickly as his intensity seems so exaggerated and staged for the camera. 9MM, Snake Eyes, and Leaving Las Vegas all demonstrate that Cage knows how to shake his head and body, but it's such bad acting. It appears so completely unnatural. The supporting cast - Hurt, Goodman, and Sizemore- deliver quite good performances. In the long run, comparing this one to other Scorsese efforts, Bringing out the Dead is fairly forgettable.

Review: The title (of this review) tells it all I want my money back

Summary: BRINGING OUT THE BED!
Review: Watching this movie...I kept thinking to myself...why am I torturing myself this way? I guess I can't complain I was watching it for free. Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette should avoid at all costs doing movies together. No screen chemistry. I give this movie a major thumbs down...but...if you can keep yourself awake...GO FOR IT.

Summary: It's Something Alright
Review: Bringing Out The Dead was really a mind boggling film to watch. At timeS I honestly didn't know what I was watching. Some segments in the film were boring and some were amazing thanks to the brilliantly vivid cinemaphotography BUT I really do admire Martin Scorsese for making this picture. I could honestly say that some directors probbaly wouldn't look twice at this project but he did. That just shows that he's not afarid to take chances. Good for you Martin!

The Acting in the film was great. Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette really did an excellent job with their roles. The acting was probbaly the best item in the film. Overall, Bringing Out The Dead was pretty good film. Even though it may not satisfy everyone, it defiantly deserves to be viewed.

Summary: Not worth a rental...
Review: I have seldom sat down to watch a movie this boring. From the previews I couldn't help but expect a show that was at least interesting. This was a long version of a EMT's drive around New York. Very few redeeming qualities make this a 1 star movie. And I am an Emergency Room Nurse and the medical sequences were hardly accutate.

Summary: A grate movie.
Review: I dont go for ER type of movies especially these kinds. But I liked this movie aside from the blood and images you dont like to see because they are things that really do happen thats what makes this movie not scary but sad and creepy in its own way. But this is a must see movie I enjoyed it A lot.

Summary: Brilliance more evident on the small screen
Review: More impressive than the photography, soundtrack and editing to me are the characters in this film. Their relationships are so achingly well-realized I can't take my eyes away. In all the scenes between Cage and Arquette you can see how desperately he's fallen for her, and how coldly she turns him away. There's a love story in this film as tender, realistic and honest as "Marty" (1955). For me the most touching example of this is when Frank rather pathetically lifts up a piece of pizza and offers it to Mary, and looking down, she says "I'm not hungry". He puts it down and as she starts to talk again, without even thinking she picks up the slice and starts eating it. Arquette's performance in this film is highly underappreciated, but then again, that goes for everything about Bringing out the Dead.
