Rating: Summary: An Epic... Review: This definately ranks among the best chronicles of the Titanic disaster, along with such great films as "A Night to Remember" and the amazing A&E documentary. While aspects such as the location of certain areas on the ship (mainly the dining room) aren't entirely accurate, the film does portray a remarkably accurate account of the events of the Titanic's short life. This was the first film to accurately show the Titanic breaking in two as she sank. The story lines, while most are fictional, are believable and well played. The best aspect of this movie, I think, is the fact that they reenact the TRUE story of the Hudson family, who, after unknowingly having their infant son kidknapped by their nanny, desperately search the ship looking for him, but end up among the 1,523 victims, including their 7-year-old daughter. George C. Scott portrays a convincing Captain Smith, and delivers a great performance, especially during the sinking.

Rating: Summary: Ship of Fools Review: This film has one claim to fame in my books--it was the very first time I laid eyes on Catherine Zita-Jones. My brother and I both agreed that here was one of the most beautiful women we had ever seen. However, even her loveliness couldn't hoist this loser out of the water--ye [...]! That first time, I turned it on practically at the end; the ship had already sunk and the passengers rescued onto the Carpathia. Catherine Z-J was going from character to character, berating them for various ways in which they had failed to be decent during the recent crisis. I thought this seemed a trifle sanctimonious on her part, and then we learned that she herself had been having an affair while on board, so she was a fine one to talk that way to others. Then she went on to appear in the next Zorro picture, and we felt like talent scouts for having spotted this star quality woman even in a turkey. Well, eventually I did see the whole movie. It is mighty silly in places--there's an Irish nanny who has a premonition of what's going to happen, but evidently was already implicated in the death of her previous charge--uh oh, watch out for her! Then George C. Scott goes about in an extremely tight uniform as the luckless Captain. He seems disgusted that the ship will sink; probably the real-life captain had feelings a bit stronger than that. Marilu Henner's rendition of Molly Brown makes you wish that she had not proved so unsinkable after all. And cheapest of all, the special effects of the actual sinking of the ship are virtually nonexistent. There are just shots of people staring and gaping, that's it. You don't see ANYTHING! Don't trouble yourself about this one.
Rating: Summary: Makes you want to go down with the ship Review: This film is an abomination. Merely showing this film is a waste of electricity. It should be declared a visual biohazard. First, the screen writer apparently decided that the historical tale of Titanic was not interesting enough, so invented conversations (such as Captain Smith berating Murdock's attempts to avoid the berg) and inserted teary-eyed myths such as Captain Smith urging the ill fated crew to "Be British." George C. Scott plays a strong and decisive Captain Smith, which would be great, if Captain Smith was strong and decisive instead of complacent and unprepared to handle the crisis, as he reportedly was. The same person who chose Mr. Scott for this role would have chosen him to play Barney Fife. Tim Curry's character is absolutely ridiculous. He would not have appeared more foolish if he had donned Rocky Horror garters and stockings and danced the Time Warp on an overturned lifeboat. But to be fair, some people might enjoy this film...of course, some people cook dogs for dinner, so I guess there's no accounting for taste.
Rating: Summary: Definitely Made For Television... Review: This is a passable account of the Titanic tragedy, however the overall visuals and editing are quite erratically done. George C. Scott and Catherine Zeta-Jones give fairly believable performances, but I didn't truly feel sadness when the ship and its passengers fell beneath the sea. The story focused on many people, of many classes, yet I still didn't connect with any of those portrayed. I don't know. Maybe it's me. No matter which telling of the Titanic one watches, there is only one sincere, dignified way of portrayal that can be accepted as "the best"-the one which forces one to remember and honor those who lost their lives due to this horrible tragedy of an "unsinkable" ship. It may actually be this one, or it may be another. Whichever, hopefully the individual will be so engrossed in the story before them, that all of the technical aspects of the film will melt away, leaving nothing but the needless death of many innocent souls. This telling was not that particular one for me, but that doesn't matter. It is for someone, and for that reason, this film serves its purpose.
Rating: Summary: "Titanic" ( 1996) Review: This is much better than the " Titanic" from 1997. In my opinion, it showed more history and life stories of the real life passengers on the Titanic than the one from 1997. The special effects were a real disappointment because I had expected to see something just like the ones in the 1997 version. All in all, it's worth watching, buying, and learning from. I recommend that the whole family watches it, leaving the children of 14 years or younger out of the viewing. The situations are too adult for them to understand. I wish that CBS would play it every time that it was the week of the anniversary of the week that the Titanic sank. If you would like to see this movie again on t.v., I urge you to go to cbs.com. go to feedback, and request the movie. It's last viewing was this past May 25, 1998. Please, help have this wonderful movie out again.
Rating: Summary: TITANIC MOVIE YOU WANT TO SEE! Review: This is the movie that you want to see because they have great actors. my favoraite is tim curry(clue, rocky horror picture show). I love the way the front cover looks it is just that I can't find it anywhere (the picture). You should see this movie I would give it 100,000,000 stars if I had to. take my advise and get it. Or you will miss the action that could be write in front of your very eyes
Rating: Summary: Much better than the Dicaprio version Review: This movie in my opinion is much better than the one that probably costed many more millions to produce. This film contains a great love story, quite a few of them actually, and good morals for everyone to take with them. Unlike the Movie theater version it does not contain any unnecessary nudity or profanity. It is a great family film. I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Yay Review: This movie was great! I think it is just as good, if not BETTER than the James Cameron version. It moves around more, it covers more ground. The James Cameron version focuses only on the two main characters, this version looks at the stories of several different characters. Also, this movie has actors, not movie stars. Using smaller name actors is always good, becuase I think it keeps the audience intrigued more. It's not like, "Oh, there's Leonardo." Plus, if you are a Catherine Zeta-Jones fan, you HAVE to see this, because this movie was really her big break. My advice is definitely see this movie.
Rating: Summary: TITANIC 1996 SUNK TITANIC 1997! Review: This Titanic starring Catherine Zeta Jone, and masterful actor Tim Curry beat the crap out of James Cameron's Titanic. I hope that CBS will play it again. This one is lavish looking and star studded. I bought it three times! Just in case it broke! This movie really goes into the depth of things, alot better than Leonardo DiCaprio's dumb acting too! This movie is far better and will always be. Tim Curry plays an almost satanic character who rapes a woman! Not to cool, but the movie was mint! I beg you to buy it, you'll be pleased.
