Summary: Didn't effect me
Review: Ashton Kutcher did ok, his best film yet, he's not being a goof for once which was different for him ,but he put it off and did a decent job, hope he keeps it up.Amy Smart is also in the film and does well .The plot was a little off the hook mind twisting to see what was real or was anything real at all.Evan Treborn (Kutcher)trys to make life the best he can for himself ,as a kid he had black outs and was told to write down everything he could in a journal, after years gone by he read the journal and starts to put pices together, from the black outs he had as a kid, and really goes back in time in his own mind to sees if his life could of have been different by differnt incidence's being changed, some which can be disturbing to some.Sound a little confusing it can be but not a bad movie so get ready for the effect it has on you and Enjoy!!!

Summary: NOTHING TO DROOL OVER, BUT WILL BEAT YOUR EXPECTATIONS
Review: No writing histrionics here, nor much of spectacular acting. The plot gets confusing every so often and occasionally even gets so self-involved that one forgets what actually happened in the first place.

But to be fair, the film beat my (typically high) expectations. The premise of the film, the mood of impending doom, and the fact that you really do end up caring about the characters more than make up for its shortcomings. The raw emotion is positively startling -- be prepared for a fair deal of gore and terrifying effects caused by the smallest action and the unpredictable outcomes.

Finally, the ending is thankfully non-Disney. You'll leave with a good taste if you manage to keep track of the plot itself.

Recommended for some weekend popcorn.

Summary: Absolutely amazing....
Review: This movie was by far one of the best I have seen in a while. If you're looking for a movie that really makes you think, but isn't hard to understand or follow, watch this. Imagine trying to change the past, and every time, you make the present worst.... Go see this! You will not be disappointed!

Summary: Excellent movie
Review: I have to first off say that I never liked Ashton Kutcher, I really thought he had no talent, that he was a moron, etc. Then I saw this movie and now I have much more respect for Ashton as an actor. The Butterfly Effect lived up to it's hype. If you're into movies like Requiem For A Dream (if you haven't seen this movie, you need to see it!), then you will absolutely love this movie. The only thing I was disappointed at was that the trailer made it look like Amy Smart and Ashton Kutcher were madly in love over the years, but in the movie he comes back many years later to talk to her then loses her. Overall, one hell of a good movie.

Summary: The Butterfly Effect- Whoa! It Was Good.....I'm Serious Too
Review: The Butterfly Effect was actually an entertaining thriller, with a fine performance, here me out on this, fine perfomance from Ashton Kutcher. Debuting directors J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress create an interesting and intricate film, dealing with the chaos theory. The theory that the flapping of a butterfly's wings can cause a typhoon halfway across the world. Okay, yes critics have without a doubt just panned this movie but it has pulled off a few positive and mixed reviews. This movie may be a good enough and maybe even smart enough self-help thriller. Some viewers may be drawn away from the intensity of it, let me say that first off it does make sense you just need to PAY ATTENTION. It's an neat time-travel thriller, with some fine performances and effects. The CGI is fine, not terrible as some people have said.
Now analyzing Kutcher's performance is one hell of a fun assessment, sure it was good. I'm serious, he can act and it's nice to see him turn from his childish and immature comic roles even though he is a riot. This has been a great movie to start off the year and I'm pleased in seeing it. The beautiful Amy Smart plays Kutcher's childhood freind and later on his love interest.
The Butterfly Effect is rated R for Violence, Language, Sexual Content and Brief Drug Use. The violence includes prison violence with intense fistfights in addition to other beatings. There are some bloody images not exceptionally graphic. There are implied sexual situations along with sexual innuendo. There is also is profanity not especially strong or explicit, smoking and marijuana use. I'm not too sure I could this an intellectual thriller, but it does make you think in some ways, it's entertaining and even initially intruiging at times. I should also warn you that this is a reasonably disturbing movie, some of the images are pretty displeasing. It's a bit dark and gloomy but a fine film and worth viewing in theatres. Not a bad pick for owning on Video or DVD and would definetly make a good rental.

Summary: What if-
Review: Did you ever say "If I could go back in time and do it over again, it would be better"? Well, Ashton Kutcher dose too; and is proved time after time he's wrong. Kutcher plays a college student majoring in psycology (specificly memory recall). He has had blackouts at particularly traumatic moments in his childhood. While in college, he begins recalling the memories. When his childhood sweatheart dies, he decides to diciplin his mind to go backward in time and fix his problems. But every time he goes back, he actually makes things worse. Telling any more than that would not be fair. Kutcher proved me dead wrong; he can act when he wants to. He did an excellent job as the heart broken kid who just wants everyone to be happy. It's a shame he is type cast as Kelso from "That '70s Show". Amy Smart dose a very good job of making several different versions of the same characters in different realities. It could have been campy, but she makes it believable; good job Ms. Smart. I feel bad that I can't remember the other actors. They are all good. The big goth guy is excellent. The authority figures are well done; they aren't stupid, they just don't know, and there is a difference. The violence isn't gory, but very mean spirited, and that is what makes it more grisly, isn't it. This is an excellent movie. It is more of a dark fantasy than really a horror movie.

Summary: Probably best watched alone, without biases.
Review: Before I go on to describe why I liked this movie, I should explain right away that this is mostly a rebuttal of what the critics say. I think that this movie has received an unfair amount of criticism and I want to rebut some of the main points people have brought up.

Firstly, if you go into the movie expecting Kutcher to suck in his role, then he probably will as far as you are concerned. It is tough to accept him as a dramatic lead, I admit, but if you try to not let his past interfere with your judgement, then it will free you to focus on the movie itself (something that very few mainstream critics seem to have done seriously).

Secondly, if you watch this with the wrong group of people, then its mood changes drastically. I saw it in a crowded theater full of people who either came in expecting a comedy or were just planning to trash it. What happened was that I really enjoyed the movie, but many others complained constantly. Because this opened up the floor for criticism, many others joined in--this is an effect you can see frequently in any event where there are a lot of people. If everybody's laughing, then you are tempted to laugh. So, I reccommend that you try to see this only with an audience that you know will take it seriously, because otherwise it will ruin your enjoyment of the film.

"The Butterfly Effect" is a lot like other major science-fiction movies from the past in that it tries out a lot of new things and worries only about the elements it was created to serve. A good comparison brings to my mind the movie "Dark City," which received very little praise or attention during its initial release. Both movies expect you to care for the characters without spending a great deal of time building them up. Both movies are more focused on answering the question, "What if?" and then trying to create a world where strange possibilities can be discovered.

The movie has been criticized for being overly violent and too melodramatic. Too violent? Not so. Melodramatic? Not really, although I'll grant you that one or two points are a bit heavy-handed. Extremely disturbing? Yes.

The violent content within is not exploitative in anyway--what it does is provides extreme environments for the "butterfly effect" theme to work with. The concept of the film is based on how much would change if you fixed one mistake in the past. To make these changes more interesting, the filmmakers have come up with some extreme material. For example, early in the film two of the main characters are sexually abused as children. By changing this event, the characters lives become drastically different. If Kutcher's character had instead went back in time and changed an event such as, say, his first hair cut, then there would probably not be a huge change in his life. So, the movie wouldn't be very interesting, nor would it explore the "What if" question very well.

In the end, this movie is about ideas and exploration. It is a great movie because it heavily explores the concept of time travel and its effects on the future. It is not a movie for everyone, but I have a feeling that many people who would like it are going to be scared away (probably by the presence of Kutcher, who does a respectable job).

I found it very clever, exciting, and thoroughly enjoyable. The acting is great all around and it is the first true thinking-man's (or -woman's) film I've seen for several years. Ultimately, though, I think it will find its audience on DVD and video. I can only hope, because it's a gem from our era.

Summary: A really good movie
Review: I think that the butterfly effect was a good movie! Although Ashton really isn't known for dramatic roles, he still does a great job. If you get queasy easy, then this isn't the movie for you. There is a lot of blood but most of it is just for a few seconds..nose bleeds and such! All in all, a good movie to see in theaters that shall be added to my movie collection shortly.
