Rating: Summary: what was he thinking? Review: ...this was a great movie to see in the theaters. With every flashback to the past, I jumped. I will definately buy this when it's released. It will go in my "best of" case for sure. Seeing how rotten one kid could be makes you think back to your own past and be thankful your friends weren't like that. The added child abuse/molestation storyline was great because it through in a shock value that really made you hate the father. This is a must have movie for the psych lovers out there.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Movie Review: I just saw it over the weekend & it was 1 of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time. Definately worth seeing & buying when its available.
Rating: Summary: Finally A Fresh New Movie Review: Ok, I have to admit.....when I first saw that Ashton Kutcher would be taking on a serious role, I was very skeptical. I mean let's face it, the guy's a regular class clown. He's very humerous and hardly ever has anything but a smile across his face. But after seeing this movie, I am convinced that Kutcher has definetely established himself as a respected actor. His performance in this movie sent chills up my spine. This movie has it all: love, violence, humor, twist and turns, and it'll defientely make you jump more than once. The cast of characters was done well and I was impressed with the overall story. Amy Smart and Kutcher were the perfect on screen duo and made the story believeable. In my opinion, this is one of the best movies I've seen in a few years. I highly recommend it, but pay attention because it does have a complicated story line that'll leave you guessing until the end. I give it a 10/10 My only complaint was the ending. Don't get me wrong, the ending was amazing. It fit the movie extremely well, but it was a little on the depressing side. I mean he does all that and doesn't get the girl? Heartbreak central, but at least there's finally a movie without a happy ending for once.
Rating: Summary: Forget any of my previous 5 STAR reviews... Review: THIS is the movie upon whom's greatness all should be judged against. At the very beginning, the "time gaps" lead you to believe that this movie doesn't make much sense (but this is just a brilliant insight into the character's own confusion). Stick with it, and all will be clear by show's end. This movie drives at the same notion that MEMENTO did...can you travel back in time (in this case through dreams) to fix your mistakes? I don't know, but I sure wish I had always kept a journal...
Rating: Summary: A Good Film With a Great Plot and Script Review: "The Butterfly Effect" was a great film despite it's negative reviews from reviewers in the newspapers and such.Ashton Kutcher whose performance people have insulted alot did a pretty good job in the film although he's no where near Oscar nominations. But the film is about Alex Treborne(Kutcher) whose childwood was severley damaged and now an A student in college he begins to read his childhood journals in an attempt to recreate the the childhood all in the hopes of saving his girlfriend Kaylie (Amy Smart). The flashbacks are very interesting getting you hooked on the story right away and the characters are well casted with Kutcher perfectly fit for the role. Also smaller characters are great too such as a kiddie pornographer played by Eric Stoltz. The film was very entertaining from the first frame to fade out and was worth the six dollars and fifty cents it cost to get in. Go see this film, you are not wasting your money. But another thing I should bring up is the fact that this is not really what you would call a horror film,it is more of a drama but it will be likeable for horror freaks.B+ for the movie,B for the acting. Enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: IN MY TOP 5! Review: This movie definitely falls within my top five movies. It has a unique and interesting story line that revolves around the butterfly effect theory. I have to say that Ashton Kutcher pulled the part off very well. I was extremely impressed with his acting and his venture into the drama world. Anyone who says that Ashton cannot be taken seriously in this movie obviously didnt watch the same movie that I did. I think that I can honestly say that fter seeing this movie, Ashton is better fit for drama than he is the comedy roles he has been so generally type-cast with. This is a dark, intense movie that really leaves you thinking after it is over. Great ending as well! 5 stars all the way!
Rating: Summary: A THRILLER, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT Review: The butterfly effect will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. main star ashton kutchertakes a few stabs at changing the past, each time it gets worse. personally john patrick amedori stole my heart. This cutie will steal every teenagers heart.BEST MOVIE I EVER SAW!!!
Rating: Summary: Twisted/Definetly a "thinking" movie Review: I loved this movie so much. It is so different that Ashton's usually dorky, hott teen self, but he played such a dramatic part. I thought about this movie for 3 days strait after I saw it---It really hit me hard. And then I had to go back and see it again. If you like twisted movies, a little disturbing, but a really good film, definetly go see it!!!
Rating: Summary: THEY SHOULD CHANGE HER NAME Review: THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT is an entertaining and unique film. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat, just waiting to find out what changes he made and if he succeeded or not. The film makes a great mystery and has many of the necessary elements to make it enjoyable. It has action, comedy, suspense, and a really hot woman. Amy Smart does a great job when the film portrays and explores the alternate outcomes of her character. SHE SHOULD CHANGE HER NAME FROM AMY SMART TO AMY HOT, BECAUSE SHE'S REALLY HOT. Besides that, she is very believable as the love interest of Kutcher's character, as he is believable of caring about her so much as to risk his own life to save her. Evan (Kutcher) and his peers as teenagers have led lives very disfunctionally. As the film portrays Evan's childhood, the fimmakers were forced to create an uncomfortable atmosphere, which they do not fail at. The plot and theme of the film is somewhat similar to that of the film FREQUENCY. But, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT has much more depth to its story (not that I didn't enjoy FREQUENCY). I think that the audience has more motivation to root for the characters in this film. In fact, you almost feel somewhat obligated or responsible. It's probably because you see the characters as children and you feel sorry for them. Anyway, see the movie. If you don't want to see it, see it anyway just because Amy Smart is really hot. I'm joking, I don't mean to offend.( EVEN THOUGH SHE IS HOT).
Rating: Summary: This film is very underrated... Review: Ever since I first saw previews for this film, I was excited about it. Anytime the subject of time travel is approached, it usually makes for an interesting and exciting film. However, the film did have the critics going against it, and Ashton Kutcher trying to play in a dramatic role. I finally got to see the movie recently, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this film turned out to be. While it is not the best time travel film I have ever seen, it was extremely entertaining and suspenseful to see all the different lifetimes being played out. I really enjoyed the fact that Kutcher's character used his mind to travel in time and not a machine. The movie can be frustrating at times. In fact, after the first 20 minutes of the film I had serious doubts. Things would happen, followed by Ashton's Kutcher's character having a blackout right at the moment when an explanation was needed. This left myself and the rest of the audience feeling confused at what was playing out. But after the film gets over the initial speed bump in the beginning, The Butterfly Effect turns into a riveting thriller and everything is explained in the long run. The entire cast did a fantastic job in my opinion. While I still feel that Ashton Kutcher is not a very good actor, he did a lot better than I thought he would. Especially, when you consider the fact that he is known for being a comedy actor. One of the best things about this film was the ending. It was not your typical happy ending. While every character's life turned out for the better, Kutcher's character still experiences loss and regret by how the story turns out. I was very happy with the ending, because it actually manages to leave your emotions feeling conflicted, which gets you thinking about how things could have been. Anytime you leave the theater in discussion about what you would have done differently, it means that the film made an impression on you. That is definately something that The Butterfly Effect manages to do. I really don't understand the harsh treatment from critics. In Entertainment Weekly, the average grade for this film is a "C-". While The Butterfly Effect does have its flaws, it turned out to be a riveting thriller, with an original take on timetravel and an unpredictable ending. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
