Summary: All Good Things Must Come To An End...
Review: All in all, the series finale for Dawson's Creek is quite satisfying. Excellent performances, interesting storylines/scenarios, suspense, sheer conflict and resolution. In terms of entertainment, it portrayed what a true finale should be. It brought things full circle and didn't seem rushed. One thing did irk me, though, and this bothers me with any show: the re-writing of history (example: Joey always knew? Um, I thinketh not..) It truly is an issult to viewers who've watched a show non-stop. It's sloppy, and very poor writing. But nothing's perfect, and the finale definitely could've been a lot worse considering the last few lackluster seasons of 'DC'. It closed things out, at least. Maybe not in the best way, nor with the best tactics... but closed it out nonetheless.

Summary: Huge Disappointment
Review: It was bad enough that in the beginning, after Joey's longtime feelings for Dawson, their first kiss and their move into a relationship, she starts having doubts and breaks off the relationship. But we could let this pass in the name of teenage angst, or "let's find new plot twists to make show interesting". But ending the show with Pacey and Joey getting together, when there was so much magic and chemistry between Dawson and Joey, is just bad writing. We watch these types of television shows to escape, and to get the happy ending that we perhaps did not get in real life. The main guy always gets the girl.....But more than that, Dawson and Joey, that was something special.... Had this been the ending I would have bought all the seasons. As it is, I will not waste my money.

Summary: Back to the roots with Kevin Williamson
Review: After disappointing season 3, 4, partly 5 and 6 of Dawson's Creek the series finale clearly bears the mark of director and writer Kevin Williamson. His returns is reflected in the focus on the 5 friends Dawson, Joey, Jen, Pacey and Jack. Thanks to obviously Mr. Williamson, the final episode got rid of those unnecessary characters of Audrey, C.J. and whoever. These characters along with Charly (season 5) and Gretchen (season 4) did not fit anyway with the original concept of Dawson's Creek. Although season 3 did include some interesting episodes, the final episode was by far the best episode since season 2. The most touching scene was the one with Dawson reflecting at the creek, seeing Jen getting out of the cab 10 years ago. The scene also shows that Dawson is the best character in the series, the only (besides Jack) really thinking about Jen. Pacey and Joey rather busy with their own relationship, pretty egoistic. In addition, it also highlights the talent of James van der Beek as an actor. To make a long story short: the series finale is a "must" for every fan of the show and what it originally wanted to convey to the audience. "The series that spoke to a generation ..."

Summary: Full Circle
Review: This DVD ending is superior to the TV ending. The extra scenes complete the story and the commentaries from Kevin Williamson truly explain the reasons behind the ending. Also, the reason behind Pacey not ending up with Andie was not because the actress playing her was not available, having them end up together would have been ridiculous considering they hadn't seen each other in years and where not the kids they used to be. It would've seemed like a consolation prize for Pacey, which he certainly did not deserve. Having watched again the re-runs on TBS, there's no question in my mind that the true romantic and hero of the series was not Dawson but Pacey. Pacey was longing for love, Dawson was longing for a "Hollywood" love. Thinking back and comparing Dawson vs. Pacey and what they did to demonstrate to Joey how much they cared, Pacey wins hands down. There's a particular episode when Pacey and Joey get locked up in a K-Mart for a night that perfectly exemplifies the kind of chemistry the two characters had (also, it's pretty obvious Katie Holmes smiles more in scenes with Jashua Jackson than with James Van Der Beek). If that episode had been Joey and Dawson stuck together, we would have expected no reminiscence of happier times (because there are none!), a hugh fight, and separate sleeping bags.
Dawson was so insecure about Joey, the only way they could end up together was in his series "The Creek" as part of his own imagination.
Who fought a school bully and bought a wall? Who took Joey sailing down the coast? Who waited patiently for Joey to open up sexually? It wasn't Dawson because he would not dare change anything. He got the ending he deserved: Joey and Dawson, just friends.

Review: I remember watching this show for the first time. It was the pilot. I was hooked up with this show and wanted to know what will happen to all of them the next week. We`ve seen a lot of tears and happyness, a lot of love and friendship. But the finale...well I don`t think that it deserves that name. ou could feel itin the whole finale that there was only one way to end this show...with Dawson and Joey. But ending it with Pacey and Joey well it didn`t make sense. I think that Mr. Williamson should have let the show ended the way he wanted at first with Dawson and Joey or write a new one for Pacey and Joey. But not by using the history of Dawson and Joey and turn it into a history of Pacey and Joey. That was bad writing. I`ve hoped for getting a full circle of the show. I didn`t want a shocking one or realistic one. I`ve hoped on an ending which fitted to the show. And this made Pacey and Joey impossible after that horrible S4. The only thing that I`m happy for is the fact that I`m not a D/J. I would have felt betrayed by the way the writers treated the story of Dawson and Joey after S2.
But to be honest. I think that noone will be satisficed with this finale. Even the fans of Pacey and Joey who only got that little kiss at the end which wasn`t really romantic for me. The whole scene at the end was not romantic. Without the kiss I simply kinda got the feeling that 2 friends only watch a movie. There was no chemestry. For me there would have been so many other ways to let this show end. But the WB and the writers did choose the wrong one. Unfortunately.

Review: I have always been a dawson's creek fan, and while it really didn't matter to me who ended up with who. I must admit that the Dawson Joey moments, weather they were together or just friends where always magic. Yes, they did fight a lot, but it was no more than Pacey & Joey fought during season 4. It was moments like the graduation episode where Joey had Dawson read her the letter her mother wrote for her, or the final epside of season 4 where they kissed at the very end right before Dawson left for college. When Dawson showed up at Joeys door, at the end of the first episode of season 5 always gives me chills.
While Dawson was always my favorite, and the finale was So-So,
I think it was a little rushed, Williamson wrote the entire script in 8 hours, because he was working on other movies at the time. I just hope when 7th heaven ends, that finale will be much better and have a little more thought put into it.

Summary: Sour Grapes
Review: It's so silly to read over these review that are basically just people venting because they wanted Joey to end up with Dawson. Kevin Williamson had the power to write any ending he chose for the character of Pacey (and he is just a CHARACTER on a TV show). He could have given Pacey a happy ending in all kinds of ways, made him successful, could have even made him married to somebody perfect. The suggestion they had to have Pacey end up with Joey because he had "nothing else" is reaching reaching, because they could have just written Pacey as being completely over Joey and happy without her to facilitate a Dawson andJoey ending. Simple as that. It was all within the writer's power to do that. And, honestly, if we are going to start quoting things characters said to each other on the show, Dawson and Joey win hands down in the hurtful comments category. Dawson and Joey were also never able to sustain a relationship for more than a few weeks without it all crashing and burning, and even up to the last season of the show they were only together a day before they ended in a huge fight that really showed how bitter and resentful they were to each other even still. That is why the dream wedding Williamson wrote was so funny, to make light of all those bad feelings between the two of them. To suggest an entire ending was rewritten because the actress playing the character of Andie had a scheduling conflict also doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Keeping it all in perspective, Kevin Williamson's actual comment on the DVD is that a Dawson and Joey ending didn't "feel right" to him, and he did not see these two characters as a romantic couple that could exist together on a day to day basis, and that is why, after some thought and discussion, he decided to go with the Pacey and Joey ending, because that ending made sense, and it felt right. And anyone who has watched more than one season out of the six that the show was on the air would probably be able to see that.

Review: I have read many reviews here, but there is one thing everyone is leaving out. Kevin Williamson explains that he wanted Andie in the entire finale not just one 90 second scene with Pacey. He explains that the show was writtin to have Pacey & Andie end up together, and Dawson & Joey end up together. It would not have worked to have Pacey & Andie, who haven't talked in 7 years (going back to season 4) sit down for one scene, and have them end up together. Andie was working on another movie at the time and could only stay for one day.
So the re-writing that Williamson did, not just for the second hour, but for most of the finale didn't have much to do with letting the story take him where it should. He was left with no other choice. A Pacey/Andie ending would have been far better than a Pacey/Joey ending anyway.
After all I think Pacey & Joey are on world war1000 by now. And we can't forget how Pacey feels when he is around Joey. "When I'm With You I Feel Like I'm Nothing"
Now that's chemistry!
