Summary: Tremendous Suspense Film.
Review: This movie is a must have for any collection. Great film with classic characters. The interaction between Hannibal (Anthony Hopkins) and Clarise (Jodie Foster) is electric and eerie. Two of best performances you'll ever see. The entire cast puts on nice performances. Even after watching the movie several times, I still get put on edge by the story. It's sad that the followup movie "Hannibal" was so hammy and goofy. This is the real deal. Nice tranfer and definitely worth the money.

Review: This film is overated..most of the film is excellent, but the part with buffalo bill suffers from a " SPlit personality". so was this THE best film of 1991. No, thats something id have to give to disney's beauty and the beast. Silencs of the lambs didnt deserve the best picture award as well..thats something i would also give to beauty and the beast

Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: I am 14 years old and watched this movie, and I don't think there is anything wrong with it. It's a gripping, edge-of-your-seat movie with wonderful performances by the cast.

Summary: A Gripper!
Review: The first time I saw Silence of The Lambs, I was so engrossed that I did not realize how much the film had gripped me until the final scene ended. Then, my whole body sagged into a slump! I can still hear Jodie Foster's FBI agent Clarice Starling desperately repeating, "Dr. Lecter? Dr. Lecter? Dr. Lecter?" And it's still giving me the chills!

Silence of The Lambs is a gripper. It grabs us by the throat and doesn't let us go until the final scene.

Nobody, but NOBODY could have played FBI agent Clarice Starling like our beloved Jodie Foster. A superb performance by a superb actress. Excellent! You will follow her anywhere she needs to go. Even into the subterranean prison to visit Dr. Hanabel Lecter. You'll be scared. You'll be reluctant. But you wouldn't dream of letting Clarice go alone.

Anthony Hopkins' performance of Dr. Lecter is absolutely chilling. Very believable. You'll swear that Anthony Hopkins really IS a deranged psychiatrist, who is also a canibal. Dr. Lecter is the most frightening character I've ever seen! And nobody could have done a better, scarier, or more chilling portrayal than Sir Anthony Hopkins, an actor extraordinaire! His "Well, hello Clarice" makes the hair on my head stand up every time I watch the film.

This is a very fine film, but not for the faint of heart. The subject matter is unpleasant, to say the least. But if you're into chilling, gripping thrillers, go see Silence of The Lambs. You won't regret it. Nor will you ever forget it.

Thank you.

Summary: Haven't seen the Criterion Collection DVD
Review: I've witnessed Silence of the Lambs and now know why it is considered to be one of the best flims of all time. The rollar coaster of the movie. Plot, storyline, characters, style, all these factor into the movies success that audience. The screenplay is even better to read. I still haven't seen this version of it yet, I'm curious to only see the deleted scenes that were taken out, if somebody could please descibe all of them I'd appreciate it.

Summary: Whoops!
Review: Be careful if you buy this from a store other than amazon.
They snuck it by me at Wal-Mart - I saw "Special Edition" on the cover and figured it HAD to be widescreen. I was wrong. There's a little logo on the back that says "FullScreen" that I missed. I was distracted by the huge "Special Edition" on the front. Luckily, amazon makes it easier to find out which screen format it's in.

I give the movie itself 3 stars, mainly because the movie loses a lot of its intensity, mystery, etc. in its 2nd or 3rd viewing.

Summary: My favorite "scary" movie
Review: This became one of my favorite movies ever, due to Jodie Foster's performance and the fact her character is a real "hero" rather than a victim--a rarity in films of this genre. This is also one of the most frightening movies I've ever seen. Hannibal Lecter is the most viscious, terrifying bad guy in film history. The world of serial killer "Buffalo Bill", in his basement labrynth, are some of the creepiest scenes ever. Silence has a number of genuine surprises and twists that are guaranteed to make you gasp out loud and sit on the edge of your seat. I still refuse to watch it alone, even after several viewings. All the deleted scenes, documentary, and other extras were a treat for fans of this film.

Summary: Hello, Clarice...
Review: I saw Silence of the Lambs for the first time yesterday...it's a great movie. Anthony Hopkins is the master at playing Hannibal Lector, and Jodie Foster does an excellent job as Clarice. While I won't go into too much plot detail, I will say that this movie is a masterpiece...If you go into this movie thinking you're in for a scare and nightmares for a week, you're not going to like it. Silence isn't one of those kind of movies. What makes this movie so good is the superb acting, and the enjoyable story. While it can be gruesome and scary, that's not entirely what it is. There are also several quotes from the movie that you'll be saying to your friends for weeks, such as "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti" and "I do wish we could chat longer but I'm having an old friend for dinner." Thanks to one reviewer, I learned of a prequel called Manhunter made in 1986. I haven't seen it yet, but I want to. I figure that it won't be as good as Silence (since I read the reviews) but I hope it'll at least get the job done, which is filling in the missing story gaps. I wish that Hopkins were in Manhunter, but unfortunately he isn't. If you're thinking about seeing this movie, know a few things first. This movie is rated R for occasional profanity, violence, gore, and slight nudity. Also be aware that after seeing this movie, you'll be hooked instantly. I know for a fact that after renting this, I am definately buying it, along with Manhunter and Hannibal, neither of which I have seen... yet. If you are going to buy the DVD, I suggest the Special Edition because I rented the regular widescreen edition and the speech and music tracks are not balanced. Often music gets much louder than the characters. However, this could be my combination of TV and DVD player, but I use some good quality equipment. Hopefully this is cleared up and remastered in the Special Edition. Again, I will say that this is a great movie, but what would you expect from a movie with all of the awards it's won? Best Actor/Actress, Best Film, to name a few. It's an 11 year old movie, but don't let that discourage you, this film is worthy of a purchase and definately was worthy of its awards.

Summary: I was Silenced!
Review: I cannot get the image of Sir Anthony Hopkins in a strait jacket and a scary looking face mask being wheeled on a cart out of my mind. I cannot get his terrifying "hello Clarice" out of my mind. I can't get this movie out of my mind.

In Silence of the Lambs, Jodie Foster plays an overachieving student at the FBI academy who is assigned to interview Hannibal Lector, the cannibalistic serial killer played by Sir Anthony Hopkins. In her assignment, Clarice Starling is supposed to try and gain any new information she can from Lector about another serial killer, Buffalo Bill. Clarice quickly finds that the only way she can get Dr. Lector to talk is to reveal parts of her childhood to him, something the was explicitly warned not to do by her superiors.

The acting is phenomenal, the plot is fast moving, the direction is first rate, and the musical score is downright scary. All of these elements come together to form a picture that is one of only a handful of movies to win all 5 top categories at the Oscars (Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, and Screenplay). Believe me, if you like scary movies this is one you can't afford to miss.
