Review: One of the best movies I saw this year. Very good performance from Em and cast. If you're Em fan you'll love it, if you're not Em fan you'll love too. It's a great movie.

Summary: Eminem - Enjoyable by anyone with an open mind
Review: I am here to debunk the myth that Eminem's music, and now his movie, are works solely targeted to- and appreciated by- people who are uneducated, misogynistic, "too young" to know any better, or otherwise have something "wrong" with them. This college graduate personally found this movie to be compelling, realistic, and unexpectedly humorous.

The stunningly grim backdrop of urban blight within Detroit sets the mood for a story of a young man with very little going for him besides his talent as a rapper. Battling the demons of poverty, violence, a dysfunctional family, and above all a lack of self-confidence about going on stage, Eminem's character (Jimmy Smith Jr.) refuses to give up. Determined to find a better life someday, he draws upon inspiration from friends, his love for his baby sister, and a beautiful stranger (played by Brittany Murphy). Jimmy finds not only the confidence he needs, but also a sense of responsibility and the realization that to make it, one has to do it themselves. But the victory is bittersweet, because even though he climbs to the top of the local hip-hop scene, he still has much farther to go.

Eminem demonstrates not only that he is a far better actor than most of the modern musicians-turned-actors out there; he has a quick wit and a mind for humor and wordplay. Much like several of his songs, this movie contains many moments of verbal jousting, and quick rhymes and humor that will leave you laughing as well as thinking.

The controversy surrounding this movie has very little to do with the film's merits itself, and very much to do with Eminem's negative public image and the sometimes violent lyrics on his albums. With another actor in the lead, there would undoubtedly be far fewer negative reviews, as many of them seem to draw their substance not from the movie itself but from skeptics taking an opportunity to insult Eminem, his reputation, and his fans.

Clearly, the main appeal of the movie and the story it tells is to people who already have an appreciation for rap and hip-hop. But anyone who goes in with an open mind will enjoy this gritty film about a young man struggling to get ahead, and life in an often-misunderstood world.

Summary: The ultimate movie
Review: ... Not only is a music arsist actually able to perform in a way which is compatible with their music, but this is one of those films where i wish i could wipe my memory clean and watch it over and over again. I did not stop thinking about this film for two weeks after i saw it. Unbelievable - absolutley beyond any film i've ever seen. Eminem is a genius.

Summary: Why ?
Review: 8 MILE, Was somewhat of a good movie. I thought the movie was trying to be too much of "PURPLE RAIN". I think Enimen wasn't even acting, if this was a somewhat of a true story then he really wasn't acting he just playing himself. The soundtrack is just awful except that one song they play all the time. The ending was dull.

Summary: Better than I thought it would be
Review: Ok, you have to admit it. Unless you're one of his hysterical teenage girl fans, or some ... admiring punk boi, Eminem probably doesn't strike you as a likely star for a movie. And when you see the trailer, well.. it looks a titch autobiographical, and probably not your speed, right?

Get over that skepticism, and some night when you have little else to do, rent this. Watch it with a somewhat open mind. Ignore all the hype, expect it to be a nice and honest little growing-up film, and you'll probably enjoy it. It's very well made, and the ending is satisfying. Yes, there are cliches. Of course there are; did you really expect it to be otherwise? This *is* still hollywood. No, it's nothing like the trailers make it out to be, but that's ok; I don't think I've ever seen a movie that was anything like as cool as the trailers want you to think it is. That's the purpose of trailers, after all; to make you want to see it, awful or not.

If you've seen the video but not the film, the film will be a bit different from what you expect; the video is *not* (repeat: NOT) a mini version of the film. Some clips are used, but they're used out of context. This is not Eminem's autobiography. It's a sort of fable about a boy out of place in his world.

There are some extremely funny bits.

Summary: A Really Good Movie
Review: I saw this movie in theaters and loved it. I do happen to be a big Eminem fan, but even for those who do not like him, this is a very good movie.
Eminem plays Rabbit, a white rapper in a black neighborhood who is trying to prove himself. Sound familiar? That's because it is VERY similar to Em's real life. Maybe that is why he delivers such a stunning performance.
The beats in this are great, the acting is very good, and the plot is enthralling. I also reccommend the soundtrack if you are a rap or hip hop fan. I burned it and it is one of the best compilation CDs that I own. Hope this helped.
