Summary: One Of The Best Movies Ever!
Review: Today, September Twenty-Second, I went and saw the new movie, "Glitter!" Let me tell you, it was awesome! It was nothing I thought it was going to be, in a good way! It's about this girl named Billie(Mariah Carey), who is given-up for adoption. People start finding-out that she has a great voice; she gets a record deal, with the help of her boyfriend/DJ/producer. Everything starts to come together-A new music video, T.V. appearances, etc. Then people start saying that her boyfriend's producing sounds the same; it causes confusion within their relationship(keep in mind Billie still has to pursue her musical career). So Billie leaves her boyfriend...........And what happens from then, well, you'll have to see........

Summary: Well acted, but...
Review: GLITTER is a well-acted movie, but there is not much of a story or a plot. Mariah Carey stars as Billie Frank, a talented young singer. She is discovered by a DJ, who believes she will make a huge sensation. Too much happens, and it feels too much like an awful music video--without enough music. Carey sounds beautiful and she is pretty. But the movie makes her look and act like an annoying teen sensation, rather than a more mature adult star--if I wanted to see Britney or Cristina, I would turn on MTV.

So in the end, Mariah is pretty, the music is not so great, but the acting might keep your interest even though the story is so lame you will soon remember that you have seen this movie twice before...COYOTE UGLY and SAVE THE LAST DANCE. Rent COYOTE UGLY, Skip THE LAST DANCE. Give Carey and the other actors credit for the best effort in this otherwise dismal movie.

Better luck next time.

Summary: Mariah's Glitter Shimmers...
Review: At long last, Mariah Carey at her best work yet - this time on the silver screen. A semi-autobiography film about music, fame and love. Mariah Carey plays Billie Frank - an 80's pop star whose singing talents was found by a well-known DJ; Dice played by Max Beesley - both did a stunning and stellar performance. The film has humor, fresh sounds, and great dramatization...especially from Carey. For music critics who don't like Mariah Carey; this is not a movie about the artist, it is a portrayal of a young struggling musician in the 80's - and Carey made that character her own, showing vulnerability as an artist! Way to go Mariah!!!

Summary: All that "Glitter" is suprisingly gold for Carey
Review: Ok, I love Mariah Carey. I think she is the most underrated artist in today's market, but I had my reservations about her acting skills. I think it was because I felt like a person who was worried that his friend might look like a fool in front of millions. Well, Carey's no fool.

"Glitter" is one of those movie that sparkles from beginning to end. Carey is suprisingly good in her role as Billie Frank, the fragile young woman who suddenly is thrust into superstardom (Spunds familiar). Though she insist this not autobiographical there are a few coincidence.

Carey is one of those actress whose face is a camera's friends. She lights up the screen when she appears in a scene and she conveys a sense of excellence in her acting.

The movie's soundtrack is one of the most innovate soundtracks to come in years. With all songs co-written or co-produced by Carey we get a soundtrack that features songs that are appropiate for this movie.

As producer Laurence Mark say, "Carey is no Meryl Streep, but she doesn't need to be." True, she doesn't need to be, because she's Mariah Carey, a talent that can now include the title of good actress on her resume and be proud of it.

Summary: A promising crossover from music to film.....good start!
Review: Mariah Carey has proven to the world that she is very talented and by watching the trailer, i think that she shows that she has a good enough acting ability to grace the big screen. Mariah has sold millions of records....so even if non mariah fans rate the film poorly, the fact that almost all her fans around the world will probably go to see this film, almost secures that its gonna be a box office smash before it even opens! Good luck to mariah in her film career....i think that she works really hard to keep her fans happy and she deserves credit for doing that!

Summary: What is a review?
Review: A review is not you opinion. A review is a judgement on how you think an audience would react to the movie. No one can honestly say that the movie will be good or not by a trailer. You have to actually go see the movie. Mariah Carey is an amateur of course, but you all haven't even given her a shot to at least make her name in the movie world. It seems to me like everyone in the movie business only needs to look good and be able to read, and Mariah can do both so she has it made in the shade. Julia Roberts is a terrible actress, but she has a big name. The trailer for Glitter looks awesome. I think audiences will enjoy the movie. It was said to be more of a love story versus about the life of a star. So, this sets the story of this movie past Whitney's movie, The Bodygaurd, which showed her as a snobbish woman who let fame go to her head, then Fatal Attraction like action got her together with the Bodygaurd. So, Mariah will make an impression on fans and non-fans. She won't give up; she hasn't yet. That shows the extent of her true potential and devotion as a person. The movie will be a hit.

Summary: NOT ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD
Review: I saw the preview and thought wow that looks boring. The only reason I would possibly want to see the movie for would be the music. Mariah Carey may even turn out to be a great actress but she really is only playing herself.

Summary: suggestion
Review: Before you tear this movie apart, try to be nice to Mariah. She hasn't done as many films as other people, and a critical review is one that offers suggestions on how to make it better; it doesn't knock people down. I would have liked this movie better if it made use of Mariah's full vocal range by having her trying to rise to the top of the opera world. The pop world is too cluttered and too gaudy, and this movie doesn't seem to say anything that hasn't been said before about a singer who wants to make it 'big.' By playing an opera role, Mariah would have been logically extending her music career by demonstrating that she can move into other markets besides popular music. Mariah will no doubt use this movie making experience to improve her acting.

Summary: Hmmmm...
Review: I've been a great fan of Mariah's ever since she first appeard way back when I was a senior in high school. I've always admired all her work, and the amount of integrity she puts into everything she does. I've always given her much artistic credibility over a lot of other artists, due to the fact she is very involved in her career - writing, producing, directing, and managing, unlike many other singers who seem to be letting other people do all the real artistic work (like Whitney). If she's not the most hardworking person in show-biz, she's at leat way up there.

I watched the trailer several times and in my opinion she definitely does seem like a very capable actress. It is hard to tell for sure with a trailer, but I feel she'll be able to pull this off. It looks like a great movie that will showcase her talents well. But if the movie does flop it would do so becuase of the storyline or there's just lack of interest from the general public, not becuase of her acting ability.
