Summary: I can't dislike a Mira Sorvino film
Review: The best thing about this film is Mira Sorvino, she is warm and intelligent and beautiful in an approachable way. When her character is sad, you feel. When she's joyful, you smile. These are the qualties of a first rank movie actress, and they are nearly enough to salvage this film. Such is her perfection, I spent much of the film wondering what her character saw in the limited dimwit played by Val Kilmer as the blind man who regains his sight. I know that Kevin Spacey can't be in every drama, but how does Kilmer keep finding lead roles? His acting through emotionless introspection is Steven Wright without the hilarity.Then there is the plot. The problem is that this is a movie and movies demand a three act structure; movies demand building conflicts, obstacles overcome, bad guys, and a tidy ending. Since this film was based on an original "real story", which probably had no resemblance to a movie plot, one was bolted on. Thus the Kelly McGillis character intent on keeping her brother blind and dependent, Sorvino's insane attraction to her jerk ex-husband, Sorvino's discovery that she'd rather be a sculptor than an architect, and Kilmer's dealing with his deadbeat dad; all very artificial. So my advice is rent it, don't own it; and hope Ms. Sorvino finds better material to showcase her enormous ability.

Summary: Quite enjoyable. I truly enjoyed this movie.........
Review: Based on a true story of a blind man who regains eyesight and is able to see. This movie is beautifully written. Although I have not read the book or original material related to the movie, I would definitely say that it is an enjoyable couple's movie, a movie about the bonds of love despite all the "handicap stigmas," and how a couple finds a deeper meaning to their lives. Summary: Val Kilmer is Wonderful
Review: There were parts of this movie that will make you wish that you were blind(and deaf) these are just all the parts that Mira Solvino was around for, I'm sorry she just can't do romanitic commidies. Kilmer was great playing a blind man who is given his sight and has no idea how to react to it. His performance at least is something everyone should see.

Review: Featuring Van Kilmer, Mira Sorvino & Nathan Lane ("The Birdcage", "Jeffrey"). The movie is based on a true story, though it is not very clear at the beginning of the movie. While the story itself is fascinating, the writing and flow of the film is poor. It moves way too fast, even at 126 minutes. Virgil Adamson (Kilmer) plays a blind masseur who meets architect Amy Benic (Sorvino). The too quickly fall in love. Benic soon finds an experimental surgery to restore Adamson's sight. The specialist doctor is played by Bruce Davison ("Longtime Companion"). With his sight restored, Adamson must now adjust to life with sight, something he never knew having lost it at the age of 3. Nathan Lane plays a sight therapist enlisted to aide Adamson in learning how to function in a world with sight. We recommend the movie for those who may have enjoyed "Awakenings" with Robin Williams. Again, the writing is not of the same calibur, but the story line is most interesting. The ending is bitter-sweet.

Review: A Blind Musseur named Virgil (Val Kilmer), been blind by the age of Three, his older Sister (Kelly McGillis). When Virgil has meet a attractive woman (Mira Sorvino) named Amy, he helps Amy to hear and sense of the world, giving her a new spirit and a burst of creativity. When Amy takes Virgil to New York for a Opearation on his eyes, a few days after the Operation, he could see. He falls in love with Amy but the Operation wasn`t that successful and he slowly losing the sight. This film is based on a Original Article by Dr. Oliver Sacks. Fine Performances by Kilmer, Sorvino, McGillis and Nathan Lane. Directed by Irwin Winkler has a made a touching drama about Love and Sight. A Well made film. Grade:A-.

Summary: Kilmer is amazing
Review: Kilmer gives a caring and powerful performance as a masagge therapist whose blind and encounters the lovely Mira Sorvino and they fall romantically in love, its just great, then Kilmer goes and gets his blind eyes fixed and then he can see but hes not adapted to the world with its shapes and sizes and then he goes blind again at the end. you cant take your eyes of Kilmer, you really care for his character and what hes going threw and Nathan Lane is great as the blind school teacher.

Summary: Read to see how I feel
Review: At First Sight is a beautiful movie, period. Well, I know a lot of people did not like this film, or they thought it was okay, but personally, I love this movie, and to me, it is one of the best romance movies I've seen. My reasons for loving this movie aren't limited; whenever I watch this, I look past the movie, and clearly see the moral of it, instead. The moral, to my interpretation, is, love exists beyond anything we can see. The reason I think this movie is so beautiful is because seeing blinds us, and confuses us from love and true affection, but this movie surpasses that. Without judging superficial aspects of life or love created by vision, it helps to see the true beauty of things. And after you've interpreted such a beautiful message, more are to come; as in acceptance. This is the kind of movie you can watch with your girlfriend when you aren't sure what to do. All in all, I loved it. It helped me understand a beautiful message, as I've said ten times over already. But it is, and I recommend seeing it, at least once.

Summary: I guess this is a better Oliver Sack's story made into movie
Review: I love Oliver Sack's writings. He is a real intellectual who also writes beautiful prose about strange yet beautiful world of neurology. His books were made into a few movies and they were more or less a disappointment. I think this one might be a better one (especially compare to Awakening), although I can't help hoping that one day a geat director will turn one of Dr. Sack's hauntingly beautiful story into a fine movie. One minor thing about Sorvino. I found her to be adorable and loveable. However her state of the art make-up was very distracting. I know she is supposed to be a sophisticated new yorker but her $1000/hour makeup-artist perfected face (especially her multi colored eye shadows and Always perfected painted red mouth) in every frame of the movie distracted from her fine acting ability. Did anyone else felt the same way? maybe it was just me....:)
