Summary: Story line gets a 3 (UNoriginal sin), Visuals get a 5 (WOW).
Review: I missed this movie in the theatre... and being a Angelina fan (who isn't), i got the unrated version of the DVD expecting a movie that would make me blush. There is one scene near the beginning of the movie that reveals a little to much to be called rated R, and seems to go on a little longer than necessary (about a full 2 minutes)... but other than that, i can hardly see what must have been cut out of the rated R version.

The plot of this movie is rather UNoriginal and predictable... but honestly, who watches an Angelina Jolie movie for the plot??? (think: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider). A woman decieves a man, the man falls in love with her, and in the end... the woman realizes that she loves him back... blah blah.

HOWEVER, the visuals in this movie are incredible. The costumes, the scenery, Angelina's hair-do's, etc. are just absolutely breath-taking. It is a period piece - set in Cuba - and is very convincing in its setting.

I'd reccommend this movie not for the steamy sex (you'll be disappointed at the lack of it), not for the plot (because you'll guess it quite quickly), but just for the georgeous scenery and costumes (and beautiful actress too!). If you like eye candy... (and i do)... this movie is definately entertaining, but don't expect much more.

Summary: An Flawed but Entertaining Flim about Lust, Passion and Love
Review: A Cuban Coffee Merchant (Antonio Banderas) order an Mail-Order Bride (Oscar-Winner:Angelina Jolie) for Marriage but the Husband is Surprise by her Beauty. More Attractive than She Seems to be. Once, they are Married, the Attraction between Them, becomes more about Lust and Erotic Passion than Love but the Lady has a Few Big Secerts and Soon, the Husband is Chasing Her, after his Fortune is Stolen.

Written and Directed by Micheal Crisofer (Gia), Based on the Novel by Cornell Woolrich, brings a Predicatible (That`s the Movie only Flaw) but Sometimes Clever Erotic Thriller is Actually Well Made and Entertaining. Sex is a Major Plot Element in this Film, there`s a few Surprises in this. This was an Box Office Disappointment in Theaters but this Film would do Better on Video. DVD`s has an fine anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and an clean Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD Extras are:The Unrated Version of the Movie, Tralier, Music Video and an Running Commentary track by the Director. Although for all it`s faults, it`s a Good Looking Film. Panavision. Grade:A-.

Summary: you can't run away from love
Review: ... the scenery in cuba is absolutely gorgeous and and you're practically swept away into this world from the initial glance. angelina jolie and antonio banderas look absolutely gorgeous in this film and the performances were actually quite good.angelina jolie has a wonderful screen presence and i don't think she can honestly make a bad film. original sin reminds me of a classic tale of love forbidden with a twist. there is almost no way to predict where the film will take you and how it all will end unless you make the complete journey. michael cristofer has written for the screen and directed a passionate story which features some of the most engaging love sceneres perhaps since the piano. not recommended for all viewers but as the film does contain some graphic material not included in the theatrical version. as angelina jolie states earlier in the film, you can't walk away from love.

Summary: Wickedly delightful...
Review: I wasn't sure by previews how I would react to this film. I'm a huge Angelina Jolie fan, but I'm nuetral on Antonio. Turns out this movie is electrifying! Not surprisingly, Jolie is dazzling. Banderas does remarkable as well--I was very impressed. The scene where he finds her again is heartstopping. The costumes are wonderful. This entire movie was an edge of your seat roller coaster. It will keep you guessing. Bravo, I say.

Summary: Somewhat disappointing...
Review: I went into this film expecting a romantic thriller with the ever talented Angelina Jolie, but came out disappointed. The film is very basic, yet at times difficult to follow. Angelina Jolie seemed to be a composite of her former characters - throughout, I would turn to the friend I went with and comment that the mannerism in that scene was a reflection of one of her previous roles. This is soft pornography that passes itself off as a drama. Director Michael Cristofer continuously broke the 180 degree rule, giving some scenes a sense of schizophreny, and jump cuts were used to a degree that made the film at times, a mere annoyance.

Summary: Steamy and Complex
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. The story is well played out, the characters have depth (something I find lacking in a lot of movies these days), chemistry, and are believable and convincing all through the movie. I did not feel that the plot was that ridiculous and I also found Jolie's character and her motives to be more complex than other reviews about this movie would lead you to believe.

I don't usually buy movies, but I was so taken by this one that I bought it and have since watched it another five or six times. I can't seem to get tired of it. It was the second time I watched it that I really fell in love with it - because I picked up on a lot of subtleties that I had missed the first time.

In my opinion, this is a beautifully made movie that tells a story which is both ancient and modern - about "love and the power it has over a life".

Summary: Quite abysmal
Review: Banderas is hot (at least that's what I hear), but not a good actor. Jolie is hot in an alien way, and sometimes a good actress, but not in this. They have graphic almost porn-like sex. If the idea of either of them doing that, then maybe you'll throw down cash to rent this (let's hope you don't actually plan on buying this.) But that is the only reason you should pay this thing any attention at all, because the rest of it is Just So Bad. The story is both ridiculous and predictable. The direction is clueless as to pacing. The editing is not only bad, but seemingly on purpose, with all sorts of unnecessary cuts going on (really too weird and dumb and distracting to be accurately described)... with a feature that allows you to see a montage of still shots from the film you probably just finished watching. Now, even if the film was good, why exactly would you want to watch that? This movie is the kind of thing that at its end leaves you with the desire to grab someone by the collar and yell Why Why Why!?!?

Summary: Not bad if you're an Angelina Jolie fan
Review: Originally, this wasn't a movie I was very interested in watching until I realized Angelina Jolie was the co-star. Okay, so I admit-I'm an Angelina Jolie junkie. But that's beside the point.

The plot of "Original Sin" isn't too original. Wealthy Cuban landowner Antonio Banderas buys a mail-order bride (Jolie) and gets a little more than he bargained for. Not only is his bride-to-be more beautiful than the photo she sent, she is quite the cat in bed. Not exactly the demur Virginia schoolteacher she professed to be.

Following the typical Hollywood "stupid male" syndrome, Banderas signs over access to his fortune to his new bride, only to find she has absconded with his money. Not only does Banderas go off half-cocked in search of Jolie, but when he finds her, he only wishes to bed her, not concerned his fortune is gone. A bit too unrealistic here, considering Banderas was homicidal and violent only minutes earlier. Of course, Jolie is also following the Hollywood stereotype of female characters that fall in love with men who wish to kill them.

Thomas Jane adds an exciting dimension to the movie as the psychotic sidekick of Jolie, although their relationship isn't quite defined, nor explained. The "spit in the mouth" routine was quite disgusting and could have been left out with no detrimental affects to the movie.

In all, if you wish to see a lot of Angelina Jolie naked, this is the movie for you, although the flapping breast image was a bit much. Myself, personally, I could have went without seeing the naked butt of Antonio Banderas repeatedly, but to each their own. "Original Sin" is a skin flick of mild entertainment value.

Summary: Why did the studio pull this flick?
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. I really enjoyed it after the 2nd or 3rd viewing and after listening to the directors commentary. The sex is a little to real for me - not romantic enough, but the story gets better each time the movie is seen. I'm happy to own it.
