Summary: Hip Hop Yeah........
Review: This moviw was a success and a big start for Beyonce, but what really made this movie a success was Rah Digga. Look for her new cd coming out soon!!!

Summary: Carmen Is Bang!
Review: What can I say about this title? The movie is good and uplifting. If you've had a bad day, the singing and dancing will get you up to do a little dance as if you didn't know how to dance.

Beyonce did a Banging job in this film! This made-4-tv movie follows the life of Carmen (Knowles) and Derek (Phifer) in a ghetto part of town where gang and drug addicts are at the most.

I don't wanna ruin the surprise for you! All you need to know... it's a good movie!! I have it added to my DVD Collection!

Summary: The worst movie I have seen in 10 years...
Review: What exactly is this supposed to be? A muscial soap opera? If you are going to do an adaptation of Carmen that takes place in the 21st century, it might be a good idea to have a few things like: 1) a script that makes sense. 2) Actors who can act. 3) Actors who can at least understand the lines they have to read. 4) and maybe a couple songs that actually move the story along. This movie, if you can call it that, is so bad you want to stop if half way through and break the DVD in half. I am sorry I didn't do just that. But at least I can sell it back to some sucker on Amazon or on Ebay and get some of my money back.

Summary: Knowles proves herself
Review: When I first heard of Carmen : A Hip Hopera, I thought it was going to be another video with rappers indulging in themselves.
However, I was proved wrong. Even though it has a star-studded cast of rappers and singers, they concentrate on the story.

Knowles plays Carmen, an ambitious but tragically fated woman who intoxicated Mekhi Phifer's character. He plays the policeman who falls head over heels in love with her that he leaves his betrothed for her, goes to jail and runs away from the feds all for her. Mos Def plays the superior police man who wants to catch Phifer and he plays the disgusting, slimy police man perfectly. He gets special points here proving that he can act. Watch out for him in Monster Ball; he makes a small cameo.

Positive points: Knowles plays the sultry sex siren perfectly. Her undeniable beauty and acting skills create 'the black Carmen'. The music in this adaptation was great; Da Brat's opening and closing rap was fantastic.

Negative points: Jermaine Dupri needs to get over himself and stop appearing in films!

Summary: See it for Beyonce if nothing else...
Review: While the movie it self isn't the best of the best, the scences with Beyonce are electrifying and worth seeing. I gave it 3 stars because the movie isn't worth buying, by it's definitely worth a 4 dollar rental to enjoy the magic of Beyonce on the screen. The suduction scene and the cards scene are worth your 4 bucks alone. Don't put money on this film making you sit on the edge of your seat, it's not that type of film. To put it in perspective try and rent the original carmen (if you can find it!) and the hip-hopera and watch both. So go out one tuesday nite when you have nothing better to do and engage yourself in this enjoyable when not so memorable experience.
