Summary: Boooooooooooooring
Review: I did not see this on tv, but rather on DVD. I found it very difficult to follow, with only Rupert Graves and Billy Zane giving any sort of worthwhile performances.

Summary: Cleopatra and all of her mystique
Review: It is clear that this film was done for entertaining the network viewer. Beautiful costumes and elaborate settings were the marque of this television event. However, the diologe of Cleopatra herself was lacking. Her words were comanding and childish, and did not exhibit her to be a manipulator, or even a charming temptress of men that she was expected to be. The writing showed her to be a constantly love-sick girl, forever at the mercy of Roman men, rather than a stong leader of Egypt. Although it is a bit difficult to convey her true character over only two-evening specials, it is clear that the historic nature of this pharoah was ignored, and it was broadcast purely for costume and setting design.

Summary: One of the Best Movies I have ever seen.
Review: I first saw the trailor for this movie on ABC, and it caught my attention... the costumes.. the setting.. and Billy Zane, since he was in Titanic (Another fav.) I wanted to see it. I watched it, and I loved it! Other people my age (13), didn't like it as much because of those *scenes* made them gag. I can handle those parts, as well as many others. Since I had taped it, I watched it over and over again.. until it was finally released, and bought it the first minute I saw it. So just to summarize, Wonderful Movie... and obviously the best movie made for TV!!

Summary: I am a Goddess...I am immortal, daughter of Isis...
Review: I really LOVED this movie! True it's not historically correct but who cares?!? When I watch a movie such as this, it's for entertainment. I am a huge Cleopatra fan. I've read almost every book about her and seen every movie about her. When I watched the movie I NEVER expected them to do it right. It's hollywood! Don't expect much of them EVER! I also admit the acting wasn't all too great either but everyone needs to remember that's partially the directors fault too. He thought it was good enough and he could of had it changed too. From the low budget they had for this movie I thought it was excellent! Everytime I watch it I get taken away to a different time and place and secretly wish I could be like her. That I could be her! Oh....if only it could be. If only there were people out there like Marc Antony to take you away....God I love that movie! Fell free, any of you to email me so we can chat about this enchanting movie!!

Summary: The best remaid movie in years.
Review: I've never been so impressed by a movie such as cleopatra. I would have to say that it is the best love story next to the Titanic. The reason for the 5 stars is creation acting and graphics. I watched it in DVD. Thank you for letting me share my view.

Summary: Good for entertainment, an enjoyable movie
Review: I bought this movie for my 12 year old, her history class and her personal fascination with Cleo. I wasn't familar with Ancient history. I feel this is a good version of Cleo., Cesear, and Anthony. Maybe it leaves some things out, but its not a historical documentary, its a movie. I enjoyed it and it will hold my daughter's interest to continue in school work. These reviews don't address this possibility, and this movie serves this purpose well. I don't feel that its in the same class with Gone with the Wind, but it wasn't a waste of money either. Good entertainment on many levels. Romance really clicks, stratedy makes your brain work, plot has things that happens. Not a dull movie.

Summary: The book is better, as usual
Review: I've seen the movie several times, and while Billy Zane did a wonderful job and the basic idea got across, the novel by George is by far superior. If you liked the movie, you'll love the book, and if you hated the movie, the book will surely be your favorite, as it is mine.

Summary: Caught My Attention
Review: I was never one for that type of stuff but this movie caught my attention and now I want to read the "real" story of Cleopatra.

Summary: Margaret George should be furious! This is tripe!
Review: The only thing this movie had going for it was that if you watched it on mute it might be bearable. Leonore Varella, while beautiful, couldn't act. However, Zane was great, as was Dalton. I read the Novel that this tripe was "supposed" to be based on and Margaret George should be furious. This was the novel she worked all her life on, and it was turned into Melrose on the Nile. Queen Cleopatra was a highly intelligent woman, scholar, strategist, and linguist, not some whiner. And Even though the costumes and sets in the Taylor/Burton version weren't as good as the ones in this version, their portrayals were the quintissential Cleopatra and Antony. So don't waste your time with this version. Go rent Liz's!
