Summary: Fantastic!
Review: Well after a long time of pondering whether to purchase it or not, I did and i'm really glad I did! It's FANTASTIC!! Very scary, very creepy and it sticks in your mind for a long time after watching it! I don't get scared very often, but this did scare me, it's a true ghost story, never mind all that 'wanting to know more about the ghost etc' you really don't need to and I think not knowing was far more believable!! I totally recommend it!

Summary: Well.....it creeped ME out.
Review: The Changling has always been one of my favorite ghost movies.
It's subtle, yet effective, and filled with extended moments of
tension. So after reading reviews others had written about
The Woman in Black, I purchased it.
And I have to admit, the moments she appears, especially
towards the end, unsettled me so...that I actually slept
with the light on in my bedroom.
And I haven't done that in decades.
What un-nerves one and not another is very subjective.
It all depends on what emotional baggage you carry,
and how dulled your senses have become....exposed to
the violent gory type of horror films
that are out there these days.
For the very few, it seems, this film did not scare them
at all. But for a majority of the viewers it rates high
on their tension/ creeped out meter.

That is why I think, if you enjoyed the patient pace and
unsettling apprehension of the scary moments in The Changling,
you will get your moneys worth, if you choose to purchase
The Woman in Black.

Summary: A compelling ghost story
Review: I liked this movie a lot. The atmosphere, the woman in black, the story, but it didn't scare me at all. I think I've been ruined when it comes to ghost stories. I can't find anything that scares me anymore. When I was a kid I had the daylights scared out of me by the Exorcist. Now when I watch it I don't even flinch. Strange how things change. I love ghost stories and this one delivers quite well for being a made-for-TV movie. I especially liked how the movie immerses you in the period and the house is so interesting I wish I could have walked through the set. Maybe it's just England, but the creepy atmosphere really adds to the movie. I agree with other reviews: They could have used more of the house to further the story and they could have gotten more in-depth with the story of the woman in black. This movie would have been a lot better if there had been more story and more scary scenes. As it is, it's an excellent film, but it just didn't scare me like I wanted. Maybe that's not saying much. <shrug> 4 stars for atmosphere, minus 1 because I wasn't scared at all. Just because it didn't scare me doesn't mean it won't scare you. It's definitely worthy of any horror collection.

Summary: Really great ghost story
Review: I was skeptical when I got this movie. It's foreign, no actors you know, and it looks like it was filmed for PBS. However, it has a very good plot and the acting it solid. If you are a horror movie buff, you'll like this movie.

Summary: 2 second fright
Review: I wanted to try and find a really scary movie. I read the reviews on here for this movie and decided to buy it. One quick fright toward the end that I admit made me jump out of my seat. Besides that 2 seconds of being scared, the rest of the movie was boring and drawn out. I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 for that 2 seconds I was truly scared. Since most scary movies aren't scary, I figured one good scare deserved a couple extra stars..

Summary: Don't believe everything you read.....
Review: Okay, I will admit it. I bought into all the other reviews that I read for this DVD. I am not saying that the reviewers are totally wrong or anything else...but for me, this film was NOT scary at all (I would let my 5 year old watch this alone) and reminded me of old 50's "horror" flicks. I had not heard anything about this movie. However, I do have a habit of trying to find "lost DVD's" out there that may have not been well publishized or talked about. So, when I read all the reviews for The Woman in Black, I thought I had a winner. To my surprise, half way through the movie I knew I was suckered. You can read about the premise in other reviews but this movie is not scary unless you find old school 50's horror flicks scarry. To be fair, it is fairly well acted and the premise is fairly interesting. But fog, repeative sounds and a "ghost" who looks like an embarrassing relative who had a bad morning with the make up does not make the film scary. In short, it was hard for me to give it even a 2 rating but since it was fairly well acted, I figured that was fair. Just don't believe everything you read...

Summary: Creepy Indie Film
Review: I purchased the Woman In Black on a random whim. The Woman will capture your imagination, and I personally looked over my shoulder for a few days... If you get a chance, see it...

Summary: Proof that gore does not a scary tale make
Review: As I watched the movie, I constantly found myself getting ready for that jump that we, all ghost story buffs, know will come. I was so pleased that I was not ready! This movie is not for the gore and blood amateur. It is for the patient, ghost story lover.
As I loved the Changeling that I purchased with this gem as an Amazon.com duo, I was pleasantly pleased that the true ghost story is alive and well. The story is easy to follow, the well-meaning gent who, unknowingly, sets himself up for the descent into madness via a black-clad apparition. So very few movies actually scare one, these days, because of the hype of special effects, that I daresay, this would be among the scariest movies I own. It relies on the story and the atmosphere of the unknown and the unseen.
I suggest this to anyone who has lost faith in the quiet, small-budget film to surprise them.
It's about time DVD manufacturers got back to their roots!

Summary: Old-Fashioned Chills and Thrills...
Review: ...as you watch this lovely tale of The Woman in Black. If you love atmospheric, Gothic stories of ghosts and hauntings, then you will adore this movie. Highly recommended but watch it with someone and NOT in the dark!
