Summary: What a movie!
Review: Any movie with Courtney Love in it is worth watching. She has to be one of the most under rated actors of our age. Courtney, Woody, and Ed Norton are just excellent. My only complaint is that the DVD didn't have any extras. Some commentary from Milos Forman, or Courtney Love would have been fantastic.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Harrelson/Love in top form
Review: The acting in this movie was excellent. Courtney Love was the best! This movie is very political, and can bring out some strong opinions from its' viewers about sex, censorship, religion, and drugs.I would not recommend watching it with your parents, as there is a lot of nudity and sex (obviously!) This movie hits home to what America is all about, and the ending is actually very touching. This is my all-time favorite movie!

Summary: First amedmant or first love
Review: Larry flint should never be recognized as a hero. It is apparent that his motivation was his fist love, money. His lavish lifestyle was what he was protecting not the first amendment. The true statement in this movie is what a man will do to survive. Although the first amendmant was clearly defined and tested by his lawyer and his statements. We must truly recognize that this magazine and what it stands for is not what the first amendment was intended for. His racist remarks an his humiliation of women does not make him a hero. I would be the first to argue for his right to say what he says but I do not agree with what he says. The movie deserves all the credit it gets for the portrayal of each character and the actors performed brilliantly.

Summary: Satisfactory movie, moronic subject
Review: Clearly, the world needs more cynics. Did, or does, Larry Flynt really care about the First Amendment? You bet, but only because it lets him make a livelihood selling pornographic magazines that also attack minorities and gays. I can't wait for the Hollywood movie that portrays Charles Manson as a kind-hearted performance artist who only wanted to use human blood and entrails as a medium.

Summary: Try watching a little more objectively...
Review: It's sad to discover that *some* people (who have posted reviews here) have overlooked the merits of this film... and focused only on Larry Flynt as a man. Well, listen up... a movie is not WHAT it's about, but HOW it's about it!

Don't complain about the actions of Mr. Flynt in the movie... after all, he (Flynt) overlooked the production... he really did those things. Perhaps Milos Forman should've CHANGED the events somehow? No!

This film is essentially a sad love story. Nevermind the politics and Ammendement speeches... what we have here is a destructive relationship in the vein of Sid Viscious and Nancy Spungen. It is masterfully directed, beautiful to look at, and deeply engrossing.

Whatever your feelings about Flynt, remember that he did play an important role in our era. Think he's a horrible person? You probably won't get an argument from him, as this film demonstrates.

Summary: BRILLIANT
Review: If you have ever underestimated Larry Flynt, or believed him to be an idiot, please see this film. It shows all of us how brilliant and curagouce he really is. He fought and he sacraficed so much for the freedom to speak one's without percicution.

The one flaw I have with this film is actually not even s flaw just a concern. The timing of events in Larry's life was not to acurate. One example of this was that Larry had his operation after Athea passed away, however I can understand that it was probably necessary to change it for the film.

Summary: Only in Hollywood. . .
Review: . . .could this man be treated as a hero. Honestly: did anybody ever lose money underestimating the taste of the public? Flynt was raking in the dollars with a stupid magazine which holds primitive attitudes toward women, sex and minorities. OK, fine. He has the right to do so. . .maybe an imperative in this country which treats the almighty dollar as the purpose of existence. . .and he can appeal his right to do so all the way to the Supreme Court. But is he a hero? Great. We live in an age which could use a few heroes, and Milos Forman (who I once thought a semi-great director) spends his producers' money on a flick celebrating a stupid redneck and his crazy wife. (Although I must give kudos for his casting--he found the perfect actors for the two leads. In fact, I don't think either one was 'acting' at all. Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love were made for their roles.)

Summary: NEWS FLASH: MILOS FORMAN ROBBED OF ANOTHER OSCAR!
Review: Admittedly I am biased in favor of this film because I worked 5 days on it as an Extra. But, Milos Forman has again shown why he will forever be one of the most masterful film directors in cinema. Woody H. got to stretch his acting chops as never before, and he is nothing short of brilliant, particularly when he is holding a drowned Althea (Courtney Love) in his arms in the bathroom. It is hard to appreciate this film for all its humor on a first viewing, so repeated viewings are well worth it. As for me, I was a cutomer in the Hustler Club (a dressed-up vacant building in downtown Memphis) and a psycho-ward inmate clad in an orange jumpsuit. You can see me/us milling about in the jailyard as Norton's character drives in front of the prison (location: Cold Creek Correctional Facility in Henning, TN). Boy, could I tell you some interesting production stories about Courtney!

Summary: I t should have won an award
Review: The people vs. Larry Flynt is one of the very few movies I have purchased in years, because most of the stuff ie.... music, books, tv shows is so teeny bopper boring, these days and this was a much appreciated break!! I also might be a little biased because I am a fanatical Courtney Love fan!!
