Summary: Scream Queen Of The 90's!
Review: Similar to the role Glenn Close played in "Fatal Attraction", Alicia Silverstone is terrifying as an obsessive teen who is "crazy" about the 28 year old living in her parent's guest house. After being told several times that she's too young for him, and finding out that he already has a girlfriend, she goes on a methodical rampage against the two. Tearing both of their lives apart. Tension builds throughout the film with various scary parts and an exciting, violent ending. Way better than "Swimfan".

Summary: A predictable, derivative thriller
Review: Some films can easily be described as "x meets y." These usually aren't very good films. In this case, the movie is a blend of Lolita and Fatal Attraction. Nick Elliott (Cary Elwes) is an investigative journalist new in town who needs a place to stay and work, so he ends up renting the guest room of a fairly well-off family in the suburbs. He catches the eye of Adrian (Alicia Silverstone), their gifted fourteen year-old daughter. Her "crush" on Nick develops at a breakneck pace. She pesters him constantly, in person and on the phone, tries to seduce him when they're alone, and becomes insanely jealous of anyone else he spends time with, particularly a female photographer he's currently working with.

Unless you didn't watch any movies in the last twenty years, you can probably see where it's going. As far as thrillers go, Fatal Attraction is probably the most imitated. Malicious, Swimfan, if you've seen any of these you won't be surprised by The Crush. There's a lot of sub par acting from people capable of much better, and incredibly cheesy writing. The only reason to watch this film would be to see Silverstone being sexy, although seeing Elwes slug her and send her flying across the room almost makes it all worthwhile.

The DVD contains trailers and cast bios.

Summary: Silverstone's Brilliant Crush
Review: Sometimes, you see an actress so charming, so real, and so beautiful, that you have to wonder, "When did it start?" You can trace Alicia Silverstone's acting genious to one movie: The Crush. With her lifelike portrayal of a young teen with a sexual obsession with Nick Eliot (Elwes), she dazzles as the one and only Darien. Yikes, it still gives me the willies. There's more. Dispite the critics saying it's another "Lolita", you can tell which is the better film. A must see if you like movies.

Summary: Not worth for seeing Ms. Silverstone; this is a Horror movie
Review: Suprised by the character's early-demonstrated talents (she's a great pianist and writer), I watched the first hour or so till I got to the part where she puts a hive wasps into use...

If your sense of life is at all noble and rational, this movie would require a day or two for its emotional after-effects to wear off, hence my quick review.

Summary: Love Hurts
Review: The Crush is a very entertaining and heart-pounding thriller about a man being stalked and terrorized by a jealous teenage girl. He meets her after moving into her parent's guest house but already has another girlfriend which causes a psychotic internal rage for the girl. But she still tries to win him over. She becomes ridiculously obsessed with him and even constructs a candle-lit shrine and begins harassing his girlfriend (Fatal Attraction style). But when she finally gets the message that he wants nothing to do with her, she begins a destructive and violent rampage on both of them. She also knows a lot about insects, including bees and wasps, and dosen't hesitate to use them as a deadly weapon. If you're into Psycho/Fatal Attraction thrillers then you should definatly see this one!

Summary: Silverstone's Amazing Debut!
Review: The Crush is an excellent film mainly because of the very talented Alicia Silverstone. This was her first film?! She steals every single scene she's in with movie star magnatism. This film is much more interesting to watch than either Fatal Attraction or Single White Female, in fact, they don't even compare. Do NOT miss The Crush!

Summary: Points for trying.....
Review: The Crush stars a young Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Excess Baggage) with Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Robin Hood - Men In Tights).

The premise is well known. Young girl is smitten with older man, he is a little too friendly and before he knows it - young girl has big crush. The tension builds when the older man begins to have a relationship with another woman. Whether this tension is deserving of an "R" rating, I'm not sure - but this doesn't detract from the entertainment.

I was expecting this movie to be very ordinary, but must admit to being pleasantly surprised. The cast play their roles extremely well and the story is fast enough for the viewer to not lose interest. You can't help but feel that an impressive attempt has been made with a limited budget and average script.

The movie will never be up there with the all time greats, but if you like thrillers which come at a very reasonable price - this is for you.

Summary: Great movie, Not so great DVD
Review: The Crush; The story of a girl obsessed with a 28 year old newspaper editor who is renting a house above the garage in Seattle. Alicia Silverstone plays Adrian who can't help but be in love with Nick (Cary Elwes). Nick's girlfriend/co-worker Amy (played wonderfully by Jennifer Rubin) feels that Adrian is too attached to Nick. At first Nick is unaware of the crush but when Adrian hurts her best friend;Cheyenne (Amber Benson) and attempts to kill Amy buy locking her in a dark room with a sudden bee infestation he finally figures out that something has to be done. Great movie. Now the DVD: Has only an INCOMPLETE credits list for 3 of the stars and a bunch of trailers FOR OTHER movies. The sound is great, as is the picture.
