Summary: Children of Concrete
Review: I am writing this not only for Leo DiCaprio or Robert De Niro, as everyone has been doing. Practically every message has been on them. It's for some other actors in the movie, such as Toby's friend Arthur Gayle or his rough and tumble crowd of friends who booze it up because they know they will be stuck in Concrete. Toby believes his friends can leave Concrete like he can, and he tries to give them motivation. They feel stuck, just like Toby did for two years. They have the same dreams as Toby did, although I wonder if those kids did make it out of Concrete, like Arthur Gayle. It touched my heart when he gave Toby the transcripts as his ticket to get out of Concrete, and Toby told him, "You can leave too," and Gayle said, "Maybe I'll just stay here the rest of my life alone and dress up in my mom's old clothes." It's a good movie to watch, although I wanted to kick Dwight's butt for being such a thickheaded man who doesn't have common sense in knowing he was treating Toby like ..., and how it would affect him in the long run. I'm glad Toby became a professor and wrote books and was able to tell his story. He deserves that much respect after having none in his childhood.

Review: i liked this movie bobby d. was real erie...but i really liked the soundtrack and unforunately theres no soundtrack available,,but one song in particular is "wild one", a guy named iggy pop remade it but i would like to know who did it on this film, any help would be nice, no i dont own the film...

Summary: De Niro is creepy
Review: I found it a little wierd how well Robert De Niro fit into this role. Very convincing!! Of course, Leonardo DiCaprio made the movie what it is. This kid can act (if you don't believe me, see Gilbert Grape).My suggestion would be to read the book first. Then watch the movie. The book (in my opinion) is not quite as good as the movie (usually not my opinion). The director takes a little liberty with the film, which really adds to it. Good film.

Summary: Leo above all!
Review: As a De Niro fan, I guess I should never say this, but I'm going to say (write) it anyway: Leo di Caprio steals the picture here! Only in "What's eating Gilbert Grape" have I seen him giving such an absolutely stunning performance, stealing the picture to Johnny Depp, another great actor that I admire. "This boy's life" is certainly not a milestone in De Niro's career. In fact this movie closed somehow a period during which he has made a string of mediocre movies, such as "Guilty by Suspicion", "Backdraft", "Capefear", "Mistress" and "Night and the City", and he went on later to give stunning performances in great movies such as "Heat", "Casino" and "Sleepers". Although I like De Niro and di Caprio, to me "This boy's life" is just a watchable movie. The best thing this movie brought to the audience is di Caprio who, I'm sure, will certainly give other remarkable performances throughout his long and, I hope, illustrious career.

Summary: Phenomenal!
Review: I did not even know this movie existed till I caught it on TV one day. I was very intrigued by it, and wanted to see it again. I never went and rented, and still havent to this day, but I did catch the whole thing on cable. I was floored by this movie. Phenomenal performances by DeNiro, Barkin and Dicaprio (shocking enough). I have yet to own this movie, but plan on it. Very passionate, and full of life. It trace the true life story of Tobias Wolff, whom is now an author and teacher in New York, I think that is where he is. Watch, rent and buy this movie. You won't be disappointed.

Review: I saw this movie on TNT a couple of months ago and I liked it. It wasn't boring at all. I think this is a great movie. Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro were great. I watch it alot everytime when it comes on. It's a good movie!

Review: When I comment to people about how horrendously bad Leonardo DiCaprio's performance was in TITANIC (where he acted like a surfer-dude who stepped into a Bill-and-Ted's-Excellent-Adventure type of time machine, and ended up on the Titanic: I kept waiting for him to say "Duuude!" he was so laid back) they often think I just don't like Leo. But I do like Leo. One of the reason's his lousy performance bothered me so much in that film, was that I had already seen him in THIS BOY'S LIFE, and had been blown away by his brilliance. His work in this is one of the greatest film performances I've ever seen. Only once before have I sat up in astonishment at a brilliant film performance from an actor I'd never heard nor seen before: Sean Penn in TAPS. Besides Leo's performance, the film is well-written and moving. The big flaw in it is the very ending. It is so contrived and sudden, it just rips the fabric of everything that has gone before it. But, if you over-look the ending (which isn't easy to do) it's a fantastic film.
