Summary: YOU CAN NOT STOP WATCHING THIS MOVIE
Review: I watched this movie one sleepy night on HBO and loved it. Went out the next day to buy the DVD, so all my friends could watch it. To my surprise, everyone I know had seen the movie before and love it and its sequel.

Summary: Bad Bad Bad
Review: I can not believe this movie. This is a very explicit movie with very harsh sexual language. I love Reese Witherspoon and she acted her part very well, but it does not make up for the horrible content. This movie took a little girl and turned her into something horrible. Not even half way through the movie I had to turn it off. I would not recommend this to anyone to watch or waste their money on renting it.

Summary: I couldn't wait for the movie to end!
Review: I saw this movie for the first time on TV. I always have to know the ending of any movie, so of course I sat through the entire duration of Freeway. Reese Witherspoon was amazing, but the movie's plot left a lot to be desired. This movie is jam packed with graphic violence, an extreme amount of sex talk, and depicts women as pieces of meat. I'm not a conseravtive movie watcher, but come on, did they really have to show Vanessa's grandmother strangled and naked on the floor? I think this could have been a great movie if the writers/producers/directors showed a little bit of taste. I'm sorry if I anger anyone who loved this film, but this is MY opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Summary: I wish I hadn't seen this movie.
Review: I realize I'm swimming against the tide here, as most of the other reviews for this film have been positive. All I can tell you is that I found this movie to be ugly and depressing and to have no humanity. Reese Witherspoon is one of best actresses to emerge from Hollywood in the last several years -- she was great in "Pleasantville" and downright brilliant in "Election." I have to wonder why she agreed to make this film -- her performance is daring, but it deserves to be in a much better film than this. It's not surprising that this movie was produced by Oliver Stone -- like all of his films, it celebrates violence, vulgarity and the degradation of women.

Summary: You've gotta see this!
Review: You'll want to own this one! On Christmas day, I sat my EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE parents and husband down to watch this and they loved it! It's unlike anything you've ever watched before. I can't think of any one word to describe this movie - it's sad, funny, riveting, charming, satirical, disheartening, and I could go on and on. This movie was recommended to me by a die-hard Reese Witherspoon fan and I'll tell you what - I'm now a die-hard too. She gives an awesome performance as a street-smart, fiesty, illiterate, white-trash teenager and her performance makes you want to see all of her movies! The fact that she can do an outstanding and believable job in this movie and then play another outstanding role as a sweet virgin in Cruel Intentions is incredible!

Summary: Outstanding actors
Review: This is a movie which shocked and fascinated me at the same time. Of course, the main characters had been played wonderfully by Witherspoon and Sutherland. But not to forget the outstanding acting abilities of the supporting roles as the one of Michael T. Weiss'. He played the horrible father so real, so that I say, that all in all the whole cast was perfect like the absurd story.

Summary: Freeway shocks and Reese Witherspoon rocks !
Review: OH MY GOD ! This is probably the sickest, most entertaining thrill-ride I have ever seen !! The Little Red Riding Hood overtone is a really great idea, and it leads up to some extraordinary adventures. Reese Witherspoon, probably the greatest actress of her age, gives the performance of a lifetime as a girl who, despite the many difficulties, will do anything to get what she wants. Kiefer Sutherland makes a great "Big Bad Wolf" villain, and it all sums up to a better media satire than "Natural Born Killers", a funnier comedy than "Animal House" and an adventure you will NEVER forget !

Summary: Not for faint of heart
Review: Approach with caution. Is it exploitation? Satire? Black comedy? I'll leave that up to you, but if you can take it's hyper-violence and way-stylized trash attitude, this is one hell of a ride. Expect the unexpected. In a perfect world Reese Witherspoon would've won an oscar for this.

Summary: Well, look who got hit with the ugly stick!
Review: Notable for the good performances of Kiefer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon--especially Reese Witherspoon--and one of the funniest courtroom confrontations I've ever seen on film. Very violent, though--I did quite a bit of fast-forwarding, I have to admit; I can't stomach graphic violence. On the whole, worth seeing.

Summary: One of the best movies of the 90's
Review: Little Red Riding Hood told in the style of Natural Born Killers. With Oliver Stone as one of the producers and screenwriter Mathew Bright in his directorial debut.

Reese Witherspoon gives the performance of her career that, worthy of sainthood, as Vanessa Julia Lutz; a hard-edge teenage Texas transplant who (after her mother and stepfather are arrested in the film's opening scene for prostitution and parole violation respectively) spends most of the film basically trying to survive the rigors of California's "kids who commit adult crimes do adult time" mentality after shooting Sutherland's psychotic "Big Bad" Bob Wolverton character.

This is 90's exploitation (i.e. Jerry Springer) done with an Oliver Stone/Tarantino sensability that works, and shines in every direction. Many subtlties and obsceneties later, we find out that a 15yo illiterate white-trash girl from the boondocks of Texas has a billion times more moral character than any of us.

I first saw this film in San Francisco, where it quickly became a cult phenomena. After three months, it was still playing to sold out audiences.

See this movie. You will find yourself quoting Vanessa's brilliant dialogue. Everyone I know who has seen this movie can recite half of it by heart. In the words of Vanessa Lutz, "I told the truth, and truth is eternal."
