Summary: OUTSTANDING
Review: Agreed, TK must be on life support not to like the film. Pare is an underrated actor and does and outstanding job of rocking. The movie was a good departure and the plot works well. I've watched it many times before and still dig watching it.

Summary: Unheralded But Riveting Rock N Roll!
Review: Sure, the acting may not be Oscar quality, but who cares? The characters have been perfectly cast, with Michael Pare BELIEVABLE when he expertly lip synchs the fantastic music. With apologies to Mr. Springsteen, John Cafferty is, in his own right, a terrific artist, who measures up quite well to The Boss musically...as a matter of fact, just listen to the saxophone playing of Michael "Tunes"--the "big man" Clemons is great, but "Tunes" is, in my opinion, a tad better. You are in for a treat as you see and listen to the solid rock n roll songs in this movie as well as in the sequel (Eddie Lives). The supporting actors, Ellen Barkin, Tom Berenger, Joe Pantoliano, Matthew Laurance and especially the delicious Helen Schneider have been well cast, and fun to watch. The ending of the movie is exceptional..it will leave you wanting more.

Summary: Simply STUNNING
Review: Having a wide taste in music, my favourite music above all other music is undoubtedly Rock 'N' Roll. Being a fan of Spinal Tap, Pink Floyd and King Crimson, my tastes normally go towards experimental music, or music that is different and interesting. I do however enjoy a good musical and Rock 'N' Roll from the greats. With Eddie and the Cruisers to use a phrase from another well known Rock Opera, I didn't just get my Rock craving fix, I got so much more. I got a lot more. I watched Eddie and the cruisers with Eddie and the cruisers 2, back to back. By the end of the second movie, I had tears rolling down my face. These movies are beautiful. Pure rock at it's best. I was awe struck by Michael's performance of Eddie and appreciated the care taken to emphasize that good music is not about spewing out a million notes a second. It's about playing with meaning and from the heart. After all music is one of the spices of humanity. There's nothing wrong with flashy shredder playing once in a while, but a whole albumn worth can be most tedious. Basically Eddie pointed towards STYLE. Eddie and the cruisers is simply perfection from beginning to end.

DON'T WATCH the second movie until you have seen the first. MORE IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE, WATCH THESE MOVIES TOGETHER. If only these fantastic musicians could help kill the record companies teenie bopper nonsense and put good rock music like this back into the mainstream, life would be bliss. ROCK ON EDDIE!

Summary: Eddie LIves !
Review: This movie should go down as an all time clasic. I'm a father of two boys that still love and watch this movie. ( we rented it on video when it was first released ) and the music never gets old.
How anyone could write a bad review regarding this film is beyond me. If you like rock and roll, this movie shows how the seed was planted and grew to what it is today.

Summary: Complete Rocker's Classic
Review: Incredibly believable performances make this film get under your skin and stay with you a long, long time. Pare is terrific in the lead role of a rock star "ahead of his time". This fantasy movie is so believable due mostly to the performances of it's cast that many people seeing it for the first time walk out thinking...BELIEVING .... Eddie and the Cruisers really existed. The story line is just close enough to what many of us remember from the 60's and early 70's to become a part of our own individual rock and roll history. Must own. Not to be missed.

Summary: Cult Classic
Review: The pro reviewers never liked this movie that quietly gained cult status as a rock movie. In a genre without much competition, this movie stands out as a simply told story of a guy more complicated inside than out. The music is great (you can have the E Street Band). Well acted by a young Berenger, Pantoliano and Barkin, its not Oscar material but it is a pleasnt nostalgic journey for those of us who remember the times as simpler. Pare's other rock story turn in Streets of Fire with a young Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe and Amy Madigan is worth the effort to review also. Pare never quite made it big alone but he's worked in some great ensemble pieces

Summary: AS we say in the UK - "The absolute Dogs Bollocks"
Review: I saw this over ten years ago and it has stayed with me every since - the music is cool as is the genre.

If anything it is too short but after recently buying it and watching it again it hasn't lost its magic.

Summary: Mr Keogh Got It All Wrong
Review: Well Mr Keogh got it all wrong with his review of Eddie And the Cruisers.

A great movie that takes you through a world of discovery, awesome sound track that will have you jumping and bopping and running out to buy the CD.

The real pity is that the sequel is no as good as the original, but well worth seeing if you can get hold of it, it fills in some of the gaps left in the original.

All up a great movie that I would highly recommend, foe any lover of rock music.

Do yourself a favor and grab a copy and sit back and enjoy

Summary: Eddie Rules
Review: A wonderful movie that is almost a search for our lost innocence. Enjoyable music, well acted by Michael Pare. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a "rock 'n roll fantasy". I truly wish "Eddie Lives" would become availble on DVD.
