Summary: Terrific, tight thriller
Review: I had never seen Fatal Attraction until yesterday, but I had already heard about the famous pet rabbit and the closing scenes. No matter - this is one heck of a thriller that combines terrific acting from Michael Douglas and Glenn Close with a thought-provoking story. Douglas' married Dan Gallagher and Close's Alex Forrest have a steamy affair while his wife is away. Except that Alex decides that it's not over. Her Alex is a maniacal nutcase who isn't above anything to keep Dan for herself, including terrorizing his family and kidnapping his daughter. Anne Archer plays Dan's wife; it's a role that many actresses can play in their sleep. She does a fine job, but it's similar to her roles in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.There is a larger issue here, though, and one that was discussed when the film was released: Aside from the moral problems of adultery, doesn't Alex have a point ? Isn't she entitled to something besides simply being used for a night or two ? The tension in this film is constant, although a lot of it seems too easily foreshadowed. Overall, though, a terrific thriller and a justifiably huge hit.

Summary: One of my Top Ten Movies
Review: Since I have seen this movie about a thousand times, it never cease to amaze me how Beth is so submissive. She is irrational and weak. Did you see how she just ran out of school when her daughter wasn't there? Didn't she think to call Dan and see if he picked up the child? Everyone thinks Alex is the bad woman but she is not, she possesses positive traits that Beth lacks. Alex is organized, canecious, dominating and most of all sexy. I admire Alex, she had guts. And that's why I LUV this movie...

Summary: Nail biting thriller.
Review: I don't what it is about this film but it astounded me. A veryoriginal script could have been the answer with a host of excellentactors. Glenn Close plays the psychotic, obsessive woman, scorned by Michael Douglas after a weekend fling of passion while "the wife's away". The sex scenes are incredibly steamy and add to the effect of the movie. This film is laced with ironic subleties. As well as this we see Glenn Close's dark side. She is perfect as the dangerous woman who just can't get Douglas out of her head. Some disturbing scenes are added to show Close's psychotic side such as the rabbit scene. As Mrs. Gallagher comes to the boiling pot to see what it holds we see the innocence of her child running towards the rabbits cage, an excellent comparision. It's up to Dan Gallagher to make a harsh decision to tell of his affair but at what price? Will Mrs. Gallagher forgive and forget and if so will Alex Forrest leave the family alone and is she really pregnant? We are left with all these questions to linger in our minds which shows that this is a very suspensful, puzzing chiller. The final scene is one of terror as Alex comes down to seek revenge on Dan's treatment of her... Excellent thriller which deserves a lot of praise and a credit to the actors who worked so hard at being so realistic.

Summary: Every man alive should have either seen it twice....
Review: ...or have a video copy stashed away somewheres. Certain stories, certain CDs are "A Man Thing", for edification purposes, you know. This may not make you popular with your good ol' guy gang, but self presevation is the first law of nature. We all know what this movie is about, but Glenni Close plays the role so well that I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone.

Summary: For the original ending
Review: It's a pity the original ending was not kept for it made the whole movie a very interesting and unusual "modern" adaptation of Puccini's wonderful Madame Butterfly. Unfortunately, spectators prefer visual effects and a bloody finale. Operatic reference may just be too ambitious for those people this movie was intended to.

Summary: KICK TO THE GUT
Review: Adrian Lyne had every adulterous married man in the world shaking in his boots with this slick, terrifying portrait of one such ill-considered affair. Glenn Close broke her long tradition of saintlike roles with her viciously effective Alex, the woman you do not ignore. Michael Douglas is perfectly cast as the husband, and Anne Archer provides an emotional warmth that makes the deception even more potent. Though the movie flashes with a bit of dated style -- tilted cameras; shocking slams and bangs; a bit too much gloss over all -- it nevertheless gets you right in the gut; the experience is visceral. I am not enthralled with the ending, because it seems over the top and from another movie, which makes sense --the ending is actually a re-considered finale; test audiences wanted revenge, and wanted it complete and with venom. They got what they asked for.

Summary: He didn't mean to turn her on
Review: Husband and father has an affair with a co-worker but as he expects to keep it as just an affair and dump her off when his family comes back, she won't let him. She then proceeds to make threats until she turns to murder to get her point across. Very realistic and very frightening sex thriller that opens eyes to the dangers of dramatic emmotions. Close is excellent as the chemically enbalanced psycho.

Summary: EFFECTIVE THRILLER
Review: Adrian Lyne, who directed the soft-porn 9 1/2 Weeks, directs this movie like a slick, sexy video. What is amazing is that, despite the slickness and manipulative imagery, the peformances are so good that it gets right under your skin. Glenn Close transforms into Alex, the discarded other woman, with so much brutality and energy that you virtually cannot escape the terror she brings upon Michael Douglas and his unsuspecting family. For my money though, Anne Archer is the performer who gives this movie its much-needed heart, and the reason why so many people found this movie incredibly compelling and disturbing: if Anne Archer, the perfect wife and mother, could be cheated on, where does that leave the rest of us? Her warmth in inhabiting her role gives the movie a dime on which to turn. The slasher ending, which I understand was a re-shoot, feels false and way over-the-top, but I defy you not to root for the heroine in the most visceral way.

Summary: GREAT PERFORMANCES...BUT A LITTLE TOO LONG
Review: "Fatal Attraction" sparked the return of the "thriller" movie genre in the late 1980's and was the talk of the country for months. More than a decade later, the film still holds up well, thanks in no small part to excellent performances by the cast. Anne Archer and Michael Douglas are both effective, particularly Ms. Archer, but the show here belongs to Glenn Close. She plays the part of the "other" woman, who slowly but methodically becomes unhinged, so brilliantly that her character's decline into madness is seamless and believable. Ms. Close deserved the Oscar for this role but lost to Cher (now that's a laugh).

Summary: a great film with tour de force performances
Review: A movie that stirred controversy like a spoon stirs the stew back in 1987, Fatal Attraction remains, to this day, a steamy potboiler with a palm sweating finally to put the cherry on the whipped creamed ice cream. Close ditches mother nature for cruel Alex Forrest in a role that no other Douglas girl could make believable. Pure entertainment from romantic beginning to the bloody-watered end.
