Summary: Everybody Salsa!
Review: Salsa is pure entertainment from start to finish. It is the embodiment of fun but cheesy 80's films. It tries to be serious, but fails for the most part because everything about it is so dated. Yet, it is energetic and lively, with upbeat songs and very HOT dancing. You'll ultimately find yourself addicted, without knowing why. it is definitely the better of the 'dirty dancing' films that came out in the late 80's and early 90's. While 'Dirty Dancing' was 'better' in terms of story, acting, and sets, Salsa is the more entertaining of the two, with its fabulous songs and delicious dancing. This is a must-see for fans of 'Lambada' and 'The Forbidden Dance'. And at ..., hey, it's a DVD that can definitely be afforded.

Summary: They don't get any better than this!
Review: Salsa was a wonderful movie! It was a combination of my two favorite things: Spanish dancing and the eighties! I really enjoyed the scene in which the main character was doing a dance choreographed to the background of an auto repair shop! You might as well call him the Spanish Michael Flatley, because he is definitely Lord of the Dance!

Summary: Viva la salsa!
Review: The dancing in this movie is energetic and sexy! The people in this movie are energetic and sexy! But...you won't find a great plot here or even a great love story. If you're looking for awesome salsa music and dancing, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Boring and a big disappointment
Review: The movie had no plot. What a sorry love story if that is what is was. The dancing was okay but don't get it if you think you're going to learn some new moves. The actors and actresses were not attractive at all. I guess they were considered good looking in the 80's.

Summary: The Robby Rosa Movie with Some Salsa
Review: The story is about a young man of Puerto Rican descent named Rico, his high school-aged sister and widowed mother. Rico needs to sweep everybody off the floor of the La Luna Club in order to win a chance to go to Puerto Rico to compete for the "King of Salsa" title. Along the way he faces some challenges with family, friends, dance partners, and love interests.

Like the series of movies made with Elvis, Salsa is a movie that presents many contrived excuses to have the main character dance.(Speaking of Elvis, his non-salsa hit "Blue Suede Shoes" also is in the movie) The high points are cameos by Salsa legends like Celia Cruz and Tito Puente among others, who provide a chance to view and listen to pre-1988 salsa tunes by their original artists. There are non-salsa songs plus a lot of free-style dancing. The acting, plot, filming, etc. should have been much better. Instead of a cinematic masterpiece, this is a 1980's dance movie, but that's what you expected from the title.

However, Robby Rosa, who plays "Rico" often jumps from salsa to his own free-style dance, much to the dismay of one of his dance partners in the film and fans who watch the movie expecting to see good salsa dancing from the main character.-and this movie ceners around "Rico".

Two scenes were particularly upseting. (1)The opening of the film has Rico and his male co-workers provocatively dancing with each-other. A female dancer appears briefly but she quickly vanishes, as the men get along. At this point we almost thought we had mistakenly gotten a gay-male movie instead of a dance movie (2) Rico's shower scene and naked tush later in the film also were not keeping with the title/theme of the movie.

The title should be "Robby Rosa as Rico and Some Salsa Dancing" rather than "Salsa"

Summary: Fun for Mambo & Salsa Freaks!
Review: This is a cute love story surrounded by good dance scenes. I purchased this movie because it was the movie that brought out the Salsa/Mambo itch that had been stirring in me for way too long. The music and dancing is hot and it carries well throughout the movie. Many dance movies focus too much on the actors or some hokey plot and the dance scenes are too brief to appreciate. However, while the sub plot of this movie isn't AAW, it is fun and cute. This movie's main plot is about the dance~ and in the dance scenes is where it excels. I recommend this movie if you want to here some good music and, primarily, watch some good salsa dancing.

Summary: Corny!
Review: This movie embodies the corniness of the 80s. Everything about it is so dated. You'll find yourself laughing at the corny dialogue and "romantic" scenes. The plot is weak, there not as much dancing as one might expect, and the acting was mediocre;hence, they're not in any more movies. Robby was cute, but looks only get you so far. If you want to watch something out of boredom, or are looking for some mindless entertainment (it's an OK laugh because it's just so silly), then this is the movie for you.

Summary: 2 Words: "Goo Fee"
Review: This movie is super-cheesy from the opening unbelievable dance sequence right to it's hip shaking end. I stared at the screen with a confused look on my face most of the time thinking that "I paid to see this???" The best part about this movie is Rodney Harvey (Ken) who is cute to watch, but whispers of "The Outsiders" -- which coincidentally later he actually starred in on the TV series.

Summary: Another bad movie
Review: Typical boring plot, salsa wannabees. Horrible acting and the unremarkable dance scenes are dragged out. The closeups of Rico and his intense stares are trite. As for the dancing itself, lets just say I've seen more sophiticated and inventive salsa moves in Idaho. When you have to keep fast forwarding to find an interesting moment you know the movie is bad. Evidently the other reviewers don't salsa.

Summary: so oldies
