Summary: One of my alltime favorites
Review: "Stealing Home" has always been one of my favorites - for about 10 years - I am 25 years old now. I love the plot, the characters, and the beach scenery. Scenery really does it for me in movies. The love scene in this movie is my favorite! It is a great soundtrack too.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: A beautiful, sensitively-made gem of a movie. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry. I was moved.

Summary: Ultimate Love Story
Review: A love story that spans over many, many years. It's the love between lifelong friends, between an middle-aged married couple and between a young boy (Harmon) and a friend of the family/baby-sitter (Foster) which shows the many faces of love. It is funny, it is sad, it is bittersweet. Great soundtrack, too!

Summary: The Best
Review: an amazing movie. Jodie is at her best, but William M. is the highlight of the movie. What an amazing actor.

Summary: Obviously touches a chord with some people
Review: but not with me. The film is so deliberate and obvious that I knew what was going to happen from scene to scene. Thats not so rare, but in a really good film, the performances can overshadow the story. Not in this case. With the notable exception of Jodie Foster, who does have some great moments, the actors in this film fall well short. Mark Harmon is miscast as the lead who goes back through the memories of his youth and his relationship with Foster. Its not that bad really, but then again, its really not that good. Ive seen it twice, just to be fair and it never hits any chords with me. The actor who plays Harmon in youth is cardboard and Silverman is just too goofy, but not in a funny or interesting way. I wish I had liked this movie, but it simply is a very mediocre movie and I am being kind when I say that. Without the aforementioned Foster adding some dimension to this film, I would say this is a serious candidate for one of the worst movies ever. I also know one thing, which is I could write a better screenplay than this. It is an overly and obviously sentimental movie that forgets how to be real. Skip this one unless its on tv. Thats what I did and I still felt cheated.

Summary: Nostalgic/Feel good movie
Review: Excellent movie! This is one of my favorite movies. It is a wonderful set of memories from another era - extremely heartwarming. I first saw it with my best friend 10 years ago and we still laugh about it. Jodie Foster is great! A must see feel good movie.BE MY FRIEND!

Summary: A MESS!
Review: For a brief time years ago, one of my local stations ran two dueling-critics shows - "Siskel & Ebert" and "At the Movies" - right next to one another. One week, both shows reviewed this film. Gene and Roger gave it two thumbs down - WAY down - but Rex Reed and Bill Harris liked it! Now, I had to see the flick for myself to see which pair was right! As it turned out, S&E were. The film was, and is, a flaky, sappy, screwy, half-baked, muddled MESS. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is for the bits of wild unintentional humor, and for the excellent performances of Harmon (in a thankless role), Foster (simply luminous) and McLaughlin (best actor in the film).

Summary: Buy stock in kleenex before you reccomend this to friends
Review: Funny, sad and very well could be true. There are no right or wrong answers in the end; you find your own and make your decisions. Still remember your past because it will always be there, one can never lose it. Don't try to. Use it to make better decisions for yourself and the people who care about you, and those you care for. When your life ends, for those you leave it continues on.A waste on those who "know it all", a must for those who have been through it and survived.

Summary: I almost cried as I read these reviews
Review: I almost cried when I read these reviews. For about the past 3 years, I have been looking on the internet for something I have just found, people who feel the same way about Stealing Home as I do. This movie as well as the song "And When She Danced" mean something more to me than I can ever explain. I do not fully understand why. I have been searching for answers everywhere. Ill start from the begining. I was only about 10 years old (an estimate) when I saw the movie in the theaters. I don't remember who, where, or why I saw this movie. I just know I saw it. Now somehow from the ages form 11-17 (another estimate), I periodically remembered this movie and Katie Chandler as a mythical type of thing. I didn't fully remember the movie although I thought about it alot (a vision of Katie Chandler). For some reason about 3 years ago I heard someonelses mix tape with And When She DAnced on it. I was amazed by the song and I didn't make the connection with Stealing Home. For some reason about a couple of weeks later I decided to rent the movie. When Billy was on the bus and I heard what sounded as an instrumental to the song, I coildn't believe it. The next day I bought the movie and since then have watched it probably more than anyone ever. I take it with me everywhwre. I have tried to do everything in my power to try and find out why I love this movie so much including a visit to Chestnut Hill. I have a couple of ideas. I would like to go in more detail about this on e-mail. I have often felt on writing a paper on this movie to get all my thoughts out on it. -To the reader from New York who wrote on May 16, 1999, if you read this please e-mail me. I liked your e-mail the most. It sounds like something I would have written. I would love to read your thesis. Also if that is realy William Aldis I would love to chat with you. This is an amazing night for me. I had just gotten home from somewhere and figured I would check the web for any new "Stealing Home" material. I have gone from finding a minimal amount of responses on the movie in 3 years to all this including William Aldis and actors in the movie. Please e-mail me to talk about this. TSX90@aol.com
