Review: Maybe it's just my college student's mind talking, but I could write a better paper on this film than I could on Dickens' novel. Maybe I'm just a gen-x'er, whatever the h*** that's supposed to mean, but I enjoyed the cinematography, soundtrack, and characters in this movie, although I would have liked to see DeNiro a little more. I recommend this movie to anyone who has been lovestruck and ignored or has been the one on the other side, who missed what a great person they could have had. I've been not, I guess I can relate to this movie.

Summary: Delicious Tension - A New Spin on an Old Fable
Review: I have to admit, I'm one of the only Dickens fans I know that actually enjoyed this retelling. For me, the intense focus on the relationship between Stella and Finn (Pip) urged me to re-read the novel for a fourth time, in an entirely new light. If you haven't read the book, it focuses much more on Pip's ascendancy to success than on his lovelorn frustrations with Stella. Yes, concentrating on this relationship was a typical Hollywood maneuver, but the outcome is the creation of an entirely renovated sub-story, definitely one worthy of telling. Modernized story, great art, and an interesting soundtrack all contribute to a funky paradigm of the original text. I loved it precisely because it didn't try to be the book. The direction is beautiful, the scenery is gorgeous. The only thing that kept me from giving this movie five stars, was the sappy Hollywood ending. Maybe they should have called this remake "Great Expectations Fulfilled."

Summary: Ahhh..Great Movie
Review: Dickens? Who cares about Dickens? This movie is great by its own merits. I don't think of it as an adaptation of Dickens literature, but merely inspired by it. Those who don't like this movie probably have a low I.Q. or attention deficit disorder. This movie was refreshing. It has interesting characters and plot. (I especially like that he was an artist) Also, Hawke and Paltrow are nice to look at, you can't go wrong with this one.

Review: The only reason I went to see this film is to see Gweneth Paltrow get naked. It is worth it for that reason only. The script was terrible and Robert DeNiro was a disappointment.

Review: This movie is pure fantasy. Put it in your VCR and be taken away to another, almost, surrealistic place. While the story itself could be polished there was enough here to make it a favorite. Each actor did a really great job at epitomizing what their character stood for. However, I think the writer could have had made them more dynamic. I agree that it did end too soon without resolution. But isn't that the point...the longing? All in all, a beautifully set movie with an excellent soundtrack and terrific cast makes it worth the price of admission.

Summary: I found this movie to be very sensual
Review: I enjoyed this movie a lot. The chemistry between Paltrow and Hawke is believable. Good story line, although it strays far from the original Dickens text. I don't like endings that leave me hanging, and I don't understand what Fin means when he tells Estella that she knows him. Then they hold hands. Is she still cold toward him? She admired him but never loved him because she was taught to be that way by her aunt. He was crushed once and it wouldn't seem he would go back for more but I wonder if I was supposed to think they would actually get back together. I felt that I wanted them to but then I like happy endings. Please comment.

Review: This movie is great. Anybody who doesn't like this movie obviasly don't appriciate the brillance of a contemparary classic. I mean with a mild base of the original, this movie still makes you feel Pip ,(or finn in this movie). It still makes you relize how much of a great writer Dickens was. This movie is a good adaption for teens. But i can understand why adults don't like it.It's now.
