Summary: Flawed but entertaining.
Review: Decent film about a up-and-coming writer who gets into all kinds of trouble when he flies to NYC to be the best man at his friend's wedding. The cast is a charm, including Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Monica Calhoun and Morris Chestnut. The movie drags a bit, and the script has its share of bumps, but the performances almost redeem its flaws. Recommended for a Sunday afternoon.

Summary: Beatific
Review: This movie was fun to watch. It was a welcome break from some of the more popular but negative portrayals of African American males. This is not to say that the brothas in the film lack a doggish side. It is just that they are handsome, wholesome, and eloquent enough to still remain admirable and desirable even with a little of the doggself displayed.Beautiful brothers and sistahs, Beautiful acting, beautiful film. We need more like this.

Summary: Genuine Friendship Personified
Review: Excellent directorial debut for Malcolm Lee. This was a well written story. It's the type of African American movie that we should see more often.

The interaction among the male characters was genuine. I liked the individuality of the characters. Harper is the professional writer who's at the top of his game. Lance is a star athlete who doesn't always want to accept the consequences of his actions; he turns to GOD to get him out of his binds. Quentin is the consumate player with no set life goals, although he manages to experiment with several career choices; he's blunt and not always likeable. Murch is the soft spoken member of the group who has a life awkening during the movie. It seems as if the script was written with these actors in mind.

Jordan, is the most developed female character in the movie. She's a sassy, independent, career woman. Nia Long gives this character a lot of pizzaz. You gotta love her. The character of Mia, is not well developed nor is her portrayal by Monica Calhoun a stand out performance. Sanaa Lathan is a star in the making.

This movie is full of laughs and one I can watch again.

Summary: ALL TIME BEST (10 STARS)
Review: I loved this movie! When I went to the movies with my boyfriend we were going through that I love you, but I don't know if I'm ready to get married situation . He reminded me of Hopper (Taye Diggs). This movie came at the perfect time in our relationship. I loved this movie so much that I went out and brought it on VHS. I couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD. The movie is about Hopper Collins writing a book about his college years and experience. He writes some well hinded messages that should have been omitted about his best friends and some females involved in his life. This part I didn't get. He tried to cover it up by summing up his details in a "rated PG- type setting" when all his friends knew that it really stood for a "rated R preview" of what actually went down. So, Hopper flies to NY to be Lance Sullivans (Morris Chestnut) best man in his wedding. But before he actually makes through the weekend festivities, his book is discovered before the release date by his nosey college "girl friend" Jordan (Nia Long). Each character has read or is reading the book throughout the weekend, including Lance. The book centers around all the characters and all of their past scandals. This stirs up a lot of emotions both physically and mentally for all characters. The underlying message is detected throughout their reading the book, and the wedding comes to a halt. Hopper must face his past in order to move to the present, and Lance has to owe up to what he has done in his past as well. This is a true love story. It lets you know that love does endure all things. Love is victorious! This is my favorite film. If you want to look at a movie from all angles of a male's point-of-view this is the movie for you.

Summary: Many Many Kudos, but...
Review: I loved this movie, however, am I the only one who noticed that they partied at the reception to "Candy" -- THE STRIPPER'S SIGNATURE SONG FROM THE BACHELOR PARTY AND SHE WAS THERE?!!!! *hysterical laughs*

I wonder if the producers noticed that little faux pau... I can't imagine that that was intentional, but it gave me a good chuckle! :)

Summary: The Best Man
Review: "The Best Man"= Excellent! It is refreshing to see Black artists in a different limelight. It shows the audience that blacks can become media executives, authors, attorneys and have other successful jobs; not every black person is a "dope-dealer", in a gang, etc. The characters in "The Best Man" were amazing, great story.I loved all of the characters, except for Shelby(Female dog).

Summary: Superb writing, acting, and directing - a gem of a movie
Review: A real feel-good movie, with great character development, and superb writing, acting, and directing. The film was about young African Americans, but it's been a long time since this 60-year-old white woman has enjoyed a movie so much.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: The Best Man was a great movie. My main problem with it is that it bordered a little too much on the "Women love to see a humbled man" storyline. Still a definite rental and really worth adding to your collection. The best thing about the movie to me is that there is no one star of the movie. All the characters work together to get the story over. You love them all.

Summary: A Real Movie That a Man Can Watch
Review: Friendships among in movies hardly exists. But "The Best Man" under the directorship of Malcolm Lee proves that friendship among men lasts a lifetime.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A movie worth watching
Review: I went to see this movie at a theater and love it. Rarely can one find a movie, especially a black movie that shows frienship among men. In addition to friendship, there is betrayal, finding real true love, and forgiveness.
