Summary: MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE
Review: I absolutely LOVE this movie. It is, without a doubt, my all time favorite. I wish they would make a sequel or a prequel. The actors/actresses were brilliant. They were really good with the comedy timing - especially Quinton (sp). It was so funny. Truly one of those 'you laughed, you cried'. I guess I most enjoyed this movie because it is so real for me. People commented that these characters are all "so rare" in the black community, when in fact, these characters are exactly like the people I have known all my life and continue to grow up with. This movie is ~us~ on TV. Flawed, but for the most part positive. Just regular characters. We waited so long! This is regular black America for me and mine and this funny portrait of them was excellent!! It plays well on the screen because it is so real. Good friends, good times, good memories, old flames, old regrets, college years, new steps, new beginnings, indecision, career moves, relationships. Life at its best. You will not regret buying this DVD! Get this on DVD soon! If you haven't seen it yet, you are missing out!

Summary: Really Good Movie With A Nice Lesson
Review: I liked The Best Man. It was a really nice movie, not too deep, not too light, with vivid characters that were very 3 dimensional. There are 6 main characters, all friends since college, who get together for a wedding. All of the characters are doing nicely in their chosen professions, which was a VERY WELCOME change from the standard fare offered with African American's at the helm. I was finally able to identify with the people on screen (not all of us live in ghetto's and drink alcohol!). There are misunderstandings, expectations of infedility, and loads of fun in this movie. And the dialogue was refreshing, exciting and insightful. If you've ever seen and loved The Big Chill, then The Best Man will be a great addition to your collection. Both films are similar in their overall premise, great scripts and fabulous directing. As for the acting, everyone did a great job. But, I would be remise in not telling you the purchase price for this video is worth it JUST for the performance of Terrence Howard, who portrays Quincy. Quincy is one of the most fabulously drawn characters I've ever experienced. As some older folks say "He played the heck out of that role!" Buy it! You won't regret it.

Summary: Too Much Best Man
Review: The movie was a good one. The best man went too far in trying to help his friend. Some things people just need to work out for themselves. I DEFINITELY wouldn't want my maid of honor helping me with my pre-marital affairs in the way that the best man helped outhis friend. NO WAY!

Summary: THE BEST OF THE BEST
Review: This movie is fast becoming a classic. It was well written, acted and the cast was beautiful. Though the cast was of African American actors, this is movie for all ethnic backrounds.It tells of a group of college friends that reunite for a wedding, but the wedding itself is not the story, its a semi-ficticious book written by one of the friends. Why is the book so paramount? Its actually a true account of events that had occurred between the friends when enrolled in college. The movie also gives an accurate depiction of quality of the up and coming African Americans in the entertainment industry. Everyone did a masterful job! I could not imagine anyone else playing in their roles. The directing was great and the ending was expected but moving. I cried!Terrance Howard should have been nominated for an award for best supportng actor. He made this film as realistic as your reunions with your families and friends. Don't miss this!

Review: As a guy some people criticize me for watching "love" stories but it seems like it's the only outlet from general African American movies. Most movies are flooded with negative propaganda thru street wars or ignorant stereotypical comedy. Both African Americans and Caucasians eat this up and thus the view of African American culture is distorted into simple tragedy. Sure, we have tragedy and the street war story is real in many ways, however we are just as multi-faceted as any other racial group and characters like those in Best Man, Love Jones, etc are just as real. I'm glad to see that we are escaping stereotypical roles and scenes in film. But this has occured before, in versions like the Cosby Show. Unfortunately marketers decided it was not appealing to enough audiences and thought that more stereotypical programs would be accepted by eurocentric americans and the poverty-stricken african american who is too uneducated to understand that the jokes on him. Hopefully we wont depend on just love stories marketed to women and be able to make other stories (such as the uplifting "Antwone Fisher" by Denzel Washington) that can be as multi-faceted as eurocentric films. Slowly but surely we will arrive, as long as we keep our eyes on the prize.

Summary: A great movies for people of all backgrounds.
Review: First of all major props due to Malcolm Lee for directing what will no doubt be considered a classic. Mr. Lee did not succomb to the senseless violence and irresponsiblity that Hollywood consistently serves up when dealing with a cast of "African American" decent. Mr. Lee painted a picture of friendship and maturity that is as beautiful as it gets. I am normally one that doesnt like to see wedding movies , however this movies is less about a wedding and more about the bonds of friendship and responsiblity.Harper (Taye Diggs) is totally believable in his sincerity as is Lance ( Morris Chestnut ). A great date and family film. The story becomes somewhat predictable however there are a few hillarious plot twists that keep your attention.For eye candy there is the incredibly sexy Nia Long for the guys and a few shirtless scenes with Taye and Morris for the ladies. I am of latin decent and can honestly say that this movie is a must see for people of all backgrounds. I was so proud to see men and women of ethnic backgrounds portrayed in such a positive light. Thank you Mr. Lee for not stuffing the usual garbage down our throats. See it and you will not be dissapointed.

Summary: Great to watch -- with the volume on mute!!
Review: I enjoyed this flick the second time, ONLY because I watched it without ANY sound. That's right, on complete MUTE. This movie just LOOKS good. Whoever wrote this script should be "slapped", I mean with a back-hand, too. And Nia?? I like her, she is pretty but girlfriend CANNOT act at all. I don't know if it's her or the script. The audience saw EVERY camera angle of her immaculate haircut, behind her ears, etc. Nia would have been far better in a 30-second hairstyle tv commercial. And that fight scene between Taye and Morris was completely overdone. This will be the last African American film I will see in awhile.

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: This fantastic effort follows the story of 4 friends and their significant others. The story revolves around the marriage of Lance Sullivan (Morris Chestnut), a talented and arrogant American football player, to shy Mia Morgan (Monica Calhoun). Cue Taye Diggs who plays Harper Stewart, the perfectionist author who is Lance's best man. All the college friends such as work-mad Jordan Armstrong (Nia Long), the sly and lascivious Q (Terrence Howard) and the ever-worrying Julian Murch (Harold Perrineau Jr) are invited to the wedding preparations but fireworks erupt when Harper Stewart's semi-autobiograhical book goes missing and lands in the hands of his friends, especially Lance. One can only guess what happens from this point! This film is brilliant in entertaining the viewer with the varied and colourful characters, making you laugh yet causing anticipation to fill you as the end of the story nears. For me, the acting was great from Morris Chestnut to Taye Diggs but special mention should go to Terrence Howard for his sly yet brutally honest portrayal of the womaniser but loyal friend, Quintin. But the DVD! Good special features but the subtitles - why do distributors persist to omit French and Spanish? DVD distributors must realise that there are other languages that they must include in order for everyone to enjoy films.
