Summary: Suspenseful
Review: I think this movie came out before Pretty Woman made Julia Roberts a star, and it's a pretty entertaining flick. Julia is a battered woman who escapes her husband and starts anew. But instead of being a harrowing drama flick about the aftermath of an abusive relationship, it's instead a suspense movie.

While her husband is tracking her down, Julia gets a house and a cute new neighbor who steadily tries to win her over. No surprise really about this movie, it's fairly predictable. But if you like a modicum of suspense, but scare really easily (like I do) then you'll like this middle-of-the-road suspense drama.

Summary: Slick but empty woman-on-the run thriller
Review: A woman, escaping from her abusive husband, fakes her identity and attempts to lead a new life. What is a slick and glossy thriller is actually very trivial in terms of thrills and suspense and is badly scripted to boot. On the whole, a poor excuse to have superbabe Julia Roberts showing off her exquisite profile, 44-inch legs into the bargain. Anything, even going to bed with the scriptwriter, is preferable to watching this junk.

Summary: collectable movie
Review: I am a Julia Roberts' fan. And this movie is the one of the her best films because of my favorite classical music was used. Whenever its theme music that I like Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique flows, it predicts suspense and thrilling is coming. But recently I bought it and found a scene was cut compare to the first time when I saw it in the movie theater,it was a sex scene I think. Why they cut that VHS version ? I hate cut version because I am a movie collector. On the cover of box package, there appears "14"marked on. What is that? Is that a reason?

Summary: You won't have any nails left...just kidding.
Review: This is one of Julia's best movies. The acting is wonderful, the suspense keeps you glued to your seat. I wish they would make more movies that had "real suspense" instead of just horror. I like the mind game aspect.

Julia plays the part of a submissive wife (Laura) married to someone who is obsessive compulsive. The towels have to be just so on the towel rack and if not, she gets in trouble. Dinner must be served on time, etc. These elements play out later in the movie and make it just terrifying.

When she fakes her death just to escape, we think she is finally rid of him. The problem is, she leaves too many clues. Her husband, Martin, is every woman's worst nightmare. He is handsome, yet within him lurks an evil soul who just wants to control Laura.

If you like a suspense without all the horror, this is a movie I can recommend.

The house in this movie is so beautiful. Aparently from what I read, it was constructed in about nine weeks. That alone is amazing! Could someone build me one? Just kidding, but the windows are so wonderful. If I lived by the sea, that is the house I would want. The second house Laura lives in is also wonderful with a porch swing. You might dream of living in either, but with a nice husband!

Julia is one of the best actresses. I was completely impressed with her performance in this movie. I am watching all her movies one after the other and have a few more to watch. This is perhaps my second favorite after Pretty Woman.

She could act in any movie...I am pretty convinced of that!

Summary: All Time Favorite Movies!
Review: I love this movie. I have watched it again and again on VHS and hope that it will be released on DVD. I love the way this movie was filmed. Some of my favorite scenes are, the drops of blood from his hand dripping into the commode where he finds her wedding ring. Julia Roberts character on the front porch after cleaning the house she rents, very relaxed. The street where the house resides is just beautiful. The call to her mother when all she can do is listen. Great Film and Great Ending.

Summary: Scissor-Cut Look at Abuse
Review: With the beginning scene in "Sleeping With the Enemy" of a nice, handsome husband and a beautiful, smiling wife living in a lovely, rich house, this movie soon breaks the stereotype perception of an abusive relationship by showing that everything that glitters is not necessarily gold.

Julia Roberts, with a combination of a sense of planning and cleverness, fear and hope, and a desperate will to survive, does the only thing she can - she leaves while faking her own death. (Any abused man or woman will probably be mesmerized by some of the scenes and the feelings evoked in this intense movie.)

The new lifestyle she slowly, but surely creates for herself, against the backdrop of her husband piecing together her escape and his savage determination to find her creates a savvy suspense thriller that could be a classic in anyone's home movie library.

Summary: One of Julias BEST
Review: This film started beautifully, exploded in terror and ended with the death of the bad guy. What more could you ask for. This film showed the multifaceted capabilities of the Star Roberts. I would enjoy this again for the lovely stage scenes at the college and the suspense. I hope the powers that be will see fit to release this on DVD I like that format and will anxiously await its appearence.

Summary: Great alone-on-a-warm-summer-evening movie...
Review: I won't apologize for loving this movie. I love art films, independent films - truly well-crafted films...this one is not rocket science, but I love it anyway. Young Julia is beautiful, perfect at the vulnerable weepy parts. The music is bittersweet and touching which sets the tone for her character's fragile journey out of despair and into a new life and love.

The opening and escape sequences are very engaging. The idea of throwing the ring down the toilet is pretty dumb - couldn't the writers think of anything else? But if you forgive that, the movie is still enjoyable.

I just like watching her arriving in Iowa and the quaint, small town life to which she has run. Yes, it is all idealized fantasy, but who wouldn't want to live in that neighborhood of hardly any cars down the street, the sound of children playing in the distance, the beautiful porches with the swings the the ferns dangling on the hooks. I think the reason she could afford her rent prior to working is because, you may notice, she does take a huge wad of cash in her bag when she escapes.

I also watch this movie and think of how I'd love a boyfriend like Ben. Yes, he's a little too earnest and accepting of her behavior to be totally real, but he's charming none-the-less. To be looked at so lovingly and brought out onto the dance floor in such a playful way...how sexy.

I know that hat scene has been criticized, yes, it's silly and I've read that Julia and Kevin Anderson just faked their way through it because *they* thought it was so bad...but hey, I would kiss him at the end of the night too.

It's an enjoyable movie, and I recommend it for the romatics at heart.

Summary: Rainy Day Movie
Review: This is a great movie to watch on a cold rainy day. It is full of suspense even though you can usually guess what's going to happen next. I can watch this movie over and over again. It's not a classic but worth the time invested.
