Summary: Great movie!
Review: I watched Erin Brockovich for the first time last night. What a great movie! Julia Roberts did an excellent job playing the title character. I highly recommend this movie! If you can get passed the profanity (and boy is there a lot of it), you will really enjoy Erin Brockovich. I didn't like the way she dressed, but I realized that that was no indication of how intelligent she was or how much of a compassionate human being she was. She could be too out-spoken and even rude at times, but she really did have a good heart. I admire how hard working she was. How dedicated and passionate she was about helping the people of Hinkley, CA. Aaron Eckhart was very good as George. A man with a tough exterior, but very gentle and loving heart. Rent this movie today! And I wouldn't be surprised if you liked it enough to buy it.

Summary: Sorry Julia...
Review: Julia Roberts is so overrated and overhyped it's ridiculous. I find her completely un-appealing. I appreciate her attempt to win me over with the push-up bras, and skin-tight micro outfits, but sorry Julia, too little too late. Not a bad film though, worth a rental.

Summary: Julia Roberts IS Erin Brockovich!!
Review: When I saw the trailer at the pictures, I didn't think much of the movie. Bad mistake. Later, on my way to Australia, I saw it on the plane. It was a 21 hour flight so spent it with alot of Erin Brockovich viewings. I really got drawn the movie and it's story. Julia Roberts plays Erin so convincing... Just watch the featurette on the DVD and you'll see how well Julia handled Erin's personality.

Jack Finney portays a wonderful role as well. Actually, the whole cast does their job well. The organic, suble music adds alot to the mood. It actually makes following the story easier. Sheryl Crow's songs blend in unnocticed. I also like the director's documentary style filming. Makes you feel like really being there and adds alot to the realism. Highly recommended film!

As for the DVD... it contains a wonderful transfer. Sharp, but sometimes grainy - compliments the documentary style though. There aren't really alot of extra's, but they really help shape up your view on the real life Erin and how everything was. And making you realise what a great job Julia has achieved.

It's nice to see a strong hero in dull times like these....

Summary: A Seriously Good Movie !!
Review: Erin Brockovich is a really good movie!! This is my favorite movie and I would recommend it to all adults. (Children may get bored because it don't have a lot of action or anything and this is those mature adult movies)

Erin Brockovich works for this law firm, but her position in it is really low because she doesn't have a law education and not much of an education in most things. What she has is spunk and one day while she was filing something she found this estate plan with doctor notes in it. Erin became curious and she began to dig around. She discovered that the water in some people's home was contaminated and they had all these diseases and serious nosebleeds and other things. She then goes around trying to get information with her boss, the lawyer. They're trying to prove that the water company is wrong and to make them pay.

I think this is really a good movie. The thing that makes it so good is that this was based on a true story. This movie involves a little bit of everything. There's a little humor in it and some other things. I wonder if this movie has received any reward because it should. I think this movie just captivates people because of the seriousness of this movie and that this really did happen.

Summary: BUY THIS VIDEO! JUST DON'T RENT IT! THE BEST EVER!
Review: Julie Roberts is at her best in this heart-warming story as she protrays an attorney's assistant who stuns a multi-billion firm and brings them to her feet! She displays the value of persistance! She also doesn't minch words to get her point across! I just loved the sexy way she dressed at work, and it proves that one can win by intimidation! In this case, it was the part that she played in outwitting a gigantic firm that was polutting the waters. I think this movie would appeal to career woman most of all, married or single, and to those others aspering to succeed like she did in the workplace! Any person watching this movie will get the message that being oneself is more important than trying to be like another person. So whether it's for fun & laughter, lessons to be learned, or role modeling, or just plain good entertainment, this movie should be watched over & over. Melissa, Michigan.

Summary: One of the best movies that I have seen in ages
Review: Julia Roberts plays a struggling mother with three kids who lands a job at a local law firm working as a secretary. She stumbles upon a water contamination case that has been killing off residents of a small town. She fights to bring the water company who started it all to court. She is a sassy woman who will not take "no" for an answer and always gets what she wants somehow. This is a very touching and powerful film that depicts one of Julia Roberts' best performances! Albert Finney also does a wonderful job with his role. This is a movie everyone should see.

Wonderful in every way! Oscar buzz abounds this movie!

Summary: if only Hollywood really could save the world...
Review: The titular heroin of "Erin Brockovich", (Julia Roberts) a twice-divorced mother of three, has nothing going for her when she gets a job with s seedy ambulance-chaser (marvelous Albert Finney). Spending a bit more time than needed over some real estate files, and wondering what medical records were doing in files dealing with a land deal, Erin ldiscovers that residents of a dried out Barstow-area town were systematically poisoned by a nearby utility. It's Erin to the rescue as no file goes unchecked, no heart gets left unturned and no big-bucks lawyer escapes the collective wrath of the audience. Director Steven Soderbergh, who took indie-filmaking into the mainstream with "Sex, Lies and Videotape" tries to do it again with "Brockovich". The result is a cross between "Norma Rae" (with the tough talking female heroin taking on the big corporate enemy), "A Civil Action" (the big corporate enemy pollutes the world and kills children), "The Rainmaker" (seedy but small-time lawyers battle more respectable and powerful litigators, and win) and the movie that Tim Robbins eventually produces at the end of Robert Altman's "The Player" - an ernest film spoiled by big-name stars and the happy ending. We're never told how the corporate enemy is brought down - the film devotes more court time to Erin's botched personal injury lawsuit in the beginning of the movie than the environmental suit that the film is meant to be about. The conflict at the heart of "Erin Brockovich has less to do with the battle between good and evil than the battle between the independent film that Soderbergh strives to create and the big-Hollywood talent he's given to make it with. Worth the rental. If anything, you'll get Julia Roberts who never dissappoints.

Summary: Julia Roberts Role is Fabulous
Review: I thought "A Civil Action" was a good movie...Erin Brockovich is 100% better! Julia Roberts plays a Dynamite Role...Shes got spunk, character, guts...and it's based on a true story...which makes it even more Dynamite...

Summary: Pretty Protester
Review: Julia Roberts is wearing hot pants again, this time fighting social injustice. Based on a true-life story, "Erin Brockovich" follows Roberts' foul-mouthed, single-mother heroine as she stumbles upon a far-reaching corporate scandal involving contaminated water in small-town Hinkley.

Basically, this is "Norma Rae" newly pumped and aerobicized. It might not be what you want nor expect from the director of "Sex Lies and Videotape" and "The Limey," but it's awfully good of it's kind.

Vividly portraying Brockovich as slob-angel crusader, Roberts is just about impossible to resist in a role that seems tailor-made to exhibit her talents. And while there are other gifted participants on hand, including Albert Finney and Aaron Eckhart, the only one allowed to upstage Roberts is her costumer, Jeffery Kurland, who wins the prize, hands-down, for some of the tackiest and funniest white-trash movie outfits in years.

"Erin Brockovich" isn't beyond stopping low (quite low) in order to manipulate its audience. Though scenes of Erin's efforts on behalf of ailing Hinkley citizens are handled with moderate restraint, the film practically turns into "Rocky" once Erin finds herself joined by a high-priced legal team, which includes a cliched uptight career-woman who clearly needs to learn a thing or two about loosening up from Erin. In this instance, "Erin Brockovich" saves its nastiest barbs for women who dare to dress properly.

Summary: Julia "Best Actress" Roberts
Review: This movie proves to me once again that Julia Roberts is the best actress in Hollywood. I can't believe I missed this great movie at the theatres to see Final Destination instead. Even though that was a great movie, Erin Brockovich is sooo much better. Julia definitely deserves Best Actress and this is closely tied with Gladiator as my favorite movie this year. The story is really great and has a very interesting cast, because it has some good laughs and some good storylines. This was a definite addition to my DVD collection. You have to get this one! You will not regret it.
