Rating: Summary: Excellent romance movie Review: The first time I saw this film was in the theaters when it was originally released. I enjoyed it a lot then, and after I watched it again recently, I was impressed by how well it has held up over the years. The plot itself is simple: two innocents fall in love, are each tempted by a more worldly love-interest, and ultimately are reunited a little scarred but smarter. In many ways it is similar to the Broadway musical "The Fantasticks." John Travolta and Debra Winger are perfect as the (literally) wide-eyed young lovers. Scott Glenn and Madolyn Smith-Osborne are deliciously evil, each in their own way, as the romatic rivals who dish out healthy doses of hard knocks to the two lovers. The other supporting cast members are equally great, and the story moves along well. If only all movies were so touching, entertaining and unpretentious. You don't have to be a fan of country music to like this movie (I'm not particularly), but if you are you'll probably enjoy seeing several performers such as Bonnie Rait and Charlie Daniels play themselves in the film as well.
Rating: Summary: corny yet mysteriously mesmorizing Review: the plot isn't great nor the actors or characters but somehow i keep watching this movie finding new elements each time that intrigue the psychologist in me. it also is a good movie to watch for a laugh. the combo of cheesy acting and funky clothes makes for comic relief
Rating: Summary: What's the big deal? Review: This has got to be one of the most overrated movies in history. It's not that I don't like John Travolta either. It's just that I don't buy him as a country guy who goes to bars, line dances, and rides mechanical bulls. Debra Winger is good and so is the supporting cast, but that's not enough in my opinion. There's the music to consider, too. It's so polished and movie-ish that it has no edge whatsoever. It is the exact kind of country music you would expect some Hollywood moron would think was good. I highly recommend you watch this movie before you think about buying it. You might save yourself some money.

Rating: Summary: Inspired ME! Review: This is a great movie that shows us all what real cowboys are like. The mechanical bull scenes inspired me - enough so that I started going to the local honkey tonk, Mango's to learn how to ride me some bull!! And now I'm the first belt-buckle winner in my family! Yee HAW! I ride it just like Bud!

Rating: Summary: Best movie of all time Review: This was in my opinion, the best movie of all time. Maybe I am biased since I am from Texas, but I love the movie and can watch it over and over. I never got a chance to go to Gilley's before it closed down, but I sure wanted to. I still see the place everyday on the way to work and it just reminds me of this movie. John Travolta was awesome in this movie. It definitely made me a JT fan.
