Summary: VERY tongue in cheek and timeless, fits any decade!
Review: My Dinner with Andre is facinating if you have ever had one minute of dinner conversation with a minor acquaintance and discovered how deeply complex,and similar to you, they are. Hopefully, they found you just as complex and similar. This movie points out the desperate need for connection we all have, and the bizarre lengths to which we will go, to make one.

Summary: Great conversation makes for a great film
Review: It's not for everyone, but you should check out this famous cult film at least once. It's an interesting, entertaining examination of men and their mid-life crises, marriage, fidelity, loss of youth and growing old. Lots of fun ideas and opposing philosophies are presented. Calling this movie "pretentious" or "pompous" as some have below is pointless - like calling a great novel or article the same thing.

Review: listening to the amateur and dumbed-down "philosophical" statements in this movie makes me wonder if whoever wrote it just took Intro to Philosophy 101 and layed down some stupid, un-provoking dialogue to impress his friends.

Review: I tried watching this once because critics gave it good reviews. This is one of the most boring films ever made. Who wants to watch a movie where two guys are talking over dinner? This is the sort of pompous and pretentious film that tries to pass itself off as art.

Summary: Brilliant Movie -- Disgusting DVD Transfer...
Review: This is one of my all time favorite movies... But my heart sank when I saw the quality -- or the lack of -- the print they used for a basis... The reel changes show color shifts that you expect from cheesy arthouse theaters -- the color balance is all over the map. The luminance levels shift throughout the film as well. Malle, Gregory and Shawn should be better represented than this level of transfer gives us. If you absolutely have to see this DVD: play it on a 12" Black and White TV and enjoy the outstanding performances... then write and complain to the slackers that put this awful transfer on the market.

Review: Fans of *My Dinner with Andre* should not pass up the chance to see an even more independent film starring Andy Kaufman and Fred Blassie. *My Breakfast with Blassie* is more than just brilliant satire - it's 'theatrical dialectic' at its best. *Blassie* is available through amazon.com and really should not be missed.

Review: This movie speaks to the truths of what our lives are about and how programmed we are. It examines some of the issues we are faced with when it come to relationships. I finally got to see this movie recently for the first time. My only regret was waiting so long to see it. Great movie!!!

Review: I first saw My Dinner With Andre when I was 17 on the Z channel, (early cable)and it made me look at the world differently....I tasted food without distraction..I felt the cold & enjoyed it...I wanted to interact in a real way with other souls without fear, when all I ever had before was fear. I was 17 when I first saw the film. It lives in my memory forever....

Summary: ART HOUSE STUFF
Review: They meet in a fancy restaraunt, wine and dine, and Andre tells him about being buried alive on Halloween (you bet!). And that's just the start of it. There is one funny scene where-in Andre orders the waiter to remove the pretty flowers from the table, "We don't need those things!". It's interesting though. Neither good or bad then. Dialogue does bristle at times, but just compare to ...Virginia Woolf, Betrayal, and Harold & Maude (all Art House too), and you'll learn how weak it really is. Appears to be RealTime, but closer examination (the ending), shows it is not.
