Summary: Play it again, Al.
Review: As in "The Devil's Advocate," Al Pacino runs away with the show, but this time he has a costar (Chris O'Donnell) who was properly cast for his role.Once again, the subtle touches overwhelm--Pacino's ability to stare ahead without his eyes focusing (he slips once), the way he walks down the steps at his brother's house, his ability to effectively use profanity. The man is superb. If only he would play fewer cop/criminal roles, and test the full range of his abilities.

Review: I saw the Movie again just yesterday .and Al Pacino impresses me everytime i watch the Movie . Hi Facial expressions are amazing.I could see the Sadness and Heartbreak in them.And it brings Tears to my Eyes. This Movie is one of the best ever.

Summary: WOW!
Review: This was the first Al Pachino movie I have ever seen, and I fell in love with him, his acting was fantastic and it is no wonder he won the academy award for his acting. His protrayal of a recently blind "war" hero, it was classic. This bitter man stirs up all kind of emotions in us as we see him shut everyone out of his life, like his neice who takes care of him despite the unkind treatment she rechieves from him. But lets not give Pacino all the credit because Chris O'Donnel was also really good. His protrayal of a timid prep school student employed to watch a blind bitter man for thanksgiving because he could not afford to go home, well it's excellent, which is saying alot considering he had to act with the greatest actor. Like come on no one can convince me that the hotel room sence with the gun and the "trial" scene back at the school weren't two of the most moving scenes in movie history. I truly think that one could not have done it. Well lets could you imageine this movie with Leoardo DiCaprio, and Dan Akrod instead, yeah right.

Summary: Terrific film
Review: I waited three years to see if this film was up to its standards, and let me say that it is that and more. This film not only is profound and moving, but it firmly entrenched Al Pacino in my book as the greatest actor alive today. The film itself aims for a level of human understanding which few films even try for; "Good Will Hunting" for me was just another film where we were supposed to feel sorry for the bullish title character just because he was beaten up by his dad. This film is much more moving in that it doesn't make apologies for its characters. It also has a real romantic sense to it; "romantic" not as in love, but in the emotion it contains and the feelings it evokes. The scene immediately preceding Slade's Ferrari ride shows a montage of gritty backstreet lots that is given a romanticized gloss by the score and just the overall tone the film has. Another thing that I like about the film is Martin Brest's employment of supporting characters so we can see little signs of their humanity (Slade's relatives, the Ferrari salesman, Manny the limo driver); Brest does that in nearly all of his films (Bronson Pinchot in "Beverly Hills Cop"; Jeffrey Tambor in "Meet Joe Black"), and along with Jonathan Demme before his sold-out "Philadelphia" days (especially in "Melvin and Howard" and "Something Wild"), shows a real love for his characters, no matter how eccentric or weird. The scene where Pacino asks Charlie if he likes his blues is one of the most heartbreaking testaments to lonely people I have ever seen, and the ending is not all that far-fetched. I know people like Lt. Col. Frank Slade who have done precisely what he does in that film. Does that make the film corny? I don't think so. Obviously the critics who had a problem with the ending have spent too much time in the darkened confines of a movie theater never to know what a true friendship is like. For me, "Scent of a Woman" extends upon feelings of heartbreak and loss, and screenwriter Bo Goldman NEVER goes the easy way out by explaining the full psychological heartache of Pacino's character. This is a true actor's movie, and Pacino, Chris O'Donnell, Gabrielle Anwar, James Rebhorn, and future "Boogie Nights" player Phillip S. Hoffman play characters that will never escape my memories.

Summary: What¿s wrong with the ending?
Review: I've read a lot of critic complaints that the ending was shameless and manipulative or somesuch. One critic complained that the ending was unrealistic. Hello? As if the premise of a high school kid escorting a blind man to New York city from Vermont is all that realistic. Frankly, the story for the whole movie is contrived, but it's artfully contrived. This movie isn't about so much about real life and realism as it is about the performances and the way the story unfolds. Moreover, it's an Al Pacino showcase, through and through (albeit with good supporting performances all around), but dammit, it works! Maybe the ending is manipulative, but it works! Manipulation is not always a bad thing.

Review: The acting on display in this film is top-notch, and it tells a wonderful story of struggle and triumph. Right from the begginning, you feel like you know who the characters are, and you can't help but care about how everything turns out for them. O'Donnel's character grew up without a role-model and Pacino's needed to know he could still be one. The "courtroom" scene at the end is one of the greatest singular speeches in movie history and worth the price of admission alone. If you don't enjoy this kind of drama and great theater, go see a documentary, this one is for true movie fans only!
