Summary: Don't believe the others. It's a great love story.
Review: Keanu Reeves, and Charlize Theron, Jason Isaacs, in a story about love, death, and re-building ones life based on different priorities... about building them instead on romance. Charlize meets Keanu, a high strung Advertising Executive, and decides to change him for the best. I recommend this movie to lovers everywhere.

Summary: Does Keanu pick his roles?
Review: Myself and a couple of my college buddies were watching tv the other day and on was Sweet November. Of course we have heard of this film before, but it most certainly did not intrigue any of us. Yet, this time was different, Keanu was the worst he has ever been. There seemed to be nothing behind his eyes, just nothing. Does Keanu pick his own roles, or just the ones he thinks are really not for him. Theron does an ok job in this flim, but she is no Monster. Well, i would suggest never watching this movie, unless your significant other states that they must see it. I mean...my college friends sat through it.

Summary: The Ending Is Not Obvious
Review: One of the prior reviews stated that the ending was obvious in the first ten minutes; must have written the script.

There are very few romantic drama/comedies where the two characters part in anything like this way, nor does the illness of the Theron character get revealed until the middle of the film. Certainly, the approach of the Theron character to her life is very unusual.

Several of the reviewers noted that SF is beautifully photographed, almost perfectly photographed, to match the moods of the film. I agree.

I've watched it about four times, and probably will watch it several more times. The film's mix just works!

Summary: Lacks character depth
Review: This is a tough movie to rate. I enjoyed it, but I thought it was lacking a few things. First of all, I've never really enjoyed Keanu Reeves at all, but he should stick to action movies, where he seems to do better. As a romantic lead, he is not much and has trouble conveying emotions. Charlize Theron is excellent as usual, but there was something missing from her character, as endearing as she was. The biggest problem is character development. Their characters are literally thrown together. He gives up his life, having lost his job and girlfriend, and decides to live with someone he just met and doesn't even like? There could have been more expressed there in terms of character motivation or plot development. However, the movie did hook me in, and it tugged at my heartstrings. Not the best movie, but worth a look.

Summary: San Francisco stars
Review: OK, admittedly the plot of this movie is implausable, unlikely and unbelievable. But, if you are either a Keanu Reeves fan, a Charlize Theron fan or a San Francisco fan it is worth watching. The city is lovingly photographed and it is a joy to watch the colors and hills of S.F. unfold along with the (corny, sappy) story. I've lived in the area of the films final sequence (just above Dolores Park) and can attest that the film is successful in capturing the essence and heart of both the Mission and Potrero Hill districts of the city.
Charlize Theron has since proved to be an A-list actress, and Keanu Reeves is so good looking it's a pleasure to watch him in anything. If you are in the mood for a getaway to the light and color of San Fran, and maybe shed a tear or two, this movie is just the ticket.
