Summary: What Does Life Mean To You?
Review: This is by far the best movie I have seen in a long time. It was so good that I saw it twice in one week. I'm one of those people who can't usually watch a movie more than once but this one was wonderful even the second time around. It touched me in a way that not many movies can do, it showed the importance of giving and to not let the daily stresses ruin your life. I recommend this movie to everyone and make sure you let your heart watch it too.

Summary: Sweet Deal Of A Movie
Review: Sara Deever (Theron) has a mission. Each month, she starts a new relationship, and helps that man become a better person, and then she moves on. Well, here comes November, and this time, it's Nelson Moss (Reeves), who hopes to woo her for good, but what he doesn't know is the secret behind the brevity of Sara's romances...

Summary: A botched remake, but DO see the ORIGINAL 1968 film
Review: Until this remake came along, a lot of people hadn't heard of this movie or even knew the original version was made in the 60's. If nothing else good comes of this mediocre update, at least it has made the earlier movie available again on video, after being out of print for years. For that reason if no other, I really wanted to like this film. I LOVED the original, starring the unimitable Sandy Dennis and Anthony Newley. Although I wondered why anyone would want to do a remake of that film, I could see how an updated version might hold some appeal. It WAS made in the 60's, after all, and it did seem dated in many ways. Back then, it was still shocking for 2 people to consider living together before marriage. The movie carried a whole different symbolism and meaning back then. So I could certainly see how a newer, modern retelling of this love story could hold a different, but equally strong appeal for today's movie audiences. But this version falls flat - and I think the failures rest with the director's inability to grasp what made this story work so well the FIRST time around, not only the way Sara and Charlie's personalities complimented each other but how they needed each other almost from the get-go. If there's any truth to the saying that we pick lovers who make us feel complete, who fill in our gaps and empty spaces, then Charlie and Sara were a perfect match- in the first film, that is. In that film, it made sense that they'd come together in spite of Charlie's initial reluctance. In the update, however, what's missing is the kind of British wit and sarcasm that Anthony Newley did so well and the madcap, she's-not-just-acting zaniness that Sandy Dennis brought to her part. There was a humor underneath all the initial tension between these two as well as a spontaneity and flirtiness in their interactions that was utterly charming. Contrast that with the disbelief, scorn and even fear Keeanu Reeve as Charlie shows toward Sara. Charlize Theron is actually rather believable as Sara but she still falls short compared to Sandy Dennis and there's a desperation and relentness to her pursuit of Charlie that borders on pathos rather than sympathy. She IS rather frighening, reminiscent of a stalker even, than the zany, irrepressible free spirit that Sandy Dennnis seemed to be. In all fairness, this movie isn't a complete loss. There are moments in this film that are poignant to watch. Fans of both Keeanu Reeve and Charlize Theron may well be overlook any flaws. To my eyes, however, it just didn't seem quite as believable, quite as magical as it should.

Summary: Keanu is the master of emotional acting
Review: No one can act like Keanu Reeves. His face is full of expression and he's always convincing in his work. Actors like Anthony Hopkins only dream of having the amount of talent Keanu has. In Sweet November, he was so honest and real as Nelson. His radiant performance distracts us from Charlize Theron's awful acting. Keanu rocks!

Summary: You'll wish you were a little like Sarah...
Review: I enjoyed the sharp contrast between the characters of Nelson (played by Keanu Reeves) and Sarah (played by Charlize Theron). I'm a big fan of Keanu Reeves and watched this movie after seeing him in "Something's Gotta Give". I just had to see him in a romantic role.

Some of my favorite scenes in the movie occur when Sarah and Nelson first meet. She spends the first half of the movie pursuing him and he spends the last half pursing her. At first, Reeves' character seems very unlikeable -- almost wooden. As the movie progresses, Sarah's magic seems to wake up the workaholic from a deep sleep.

There is a scene where Sarah and Nelson stand in the rain. It reminded me of the fight scenes from the Matrix Revolutions.

In the DVD version when he is interviewed, Keanu states something to the affect that he is Nelson, and that he has met plenty of Sarah's in his life but they never called him back. Something else to watch -- Keanu loves motorcyles, and Nelson's office at the ad agency is decorated with photos of motorcycles. I wonder if he had any say in the decor...

Overall, I enjoyed the movie but it is not my favorite. There could have been more chemistry between the characters. I was a little shocked to see one of the characters in a dress but it works. I won't spoil the plot but this movie will make you cry...and also wonder why we can't enjoy life as much as Sarah.
