Summary: The sad truth of todays youth!!!!
Review: The best portrayal of life on the streets as a young white male the movie screen has ever seen. Finally the movie that shows the other side of the streets and the white male's stuggles and decision making in an interracial society. Anyone not locked in a closet for the length of their adolesence could get into this movie. A hard packed intense drama that hits close to home for many. Absolutely the best movie I have ever seen.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MOVIE....
Review: No words can describe this movie... you must see it for yourself.... I'll say one thing, however, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Summary: completly awseome
Review: The movie was one of the best Neo-nazi films I have ever seen and thought Norton gave a stunning performance, one of his best. The film delivered a strong message.

Summary: ...From the better angels of our nature...
Review: Stunningly powerful movie which left me and my friends in a state of quiet and thoughtful contemplation even as the titles were concluding. A cautionary tale I guess set in Venice Beach,California about hate and prejudice. Two common human traits of which none of us are innocent.

A talented cast led by those two Edwardians,Norton and Furlong of a story about a young neo nazi who is jailed for three years after the cold blooded killing of a black man attempting to steal his car. This flashback scene is not for the faint-hearted.He is unremorseful at first but eventually finds his epiphany within the stark reality of the prison walls.Enough said.

Despite the controversial nature of the film it does cut to the core hard and fast.I especially liked the flashbacks in black&white. An often used device which works well here,as does the quote by Abraham Lincoln towards the end,"...we must not be enemies but friends..." Many critics have been scathing of the one dimensional supporting characters and they may be right in that respect,Nortons exceptional performance not withstanding but this still does not devalue it from being one of the most critical and memorable films to come out of hollywood for a long time. One of my top ten for this last decade of the millenium and well deserved.

Summary: Thought Provoking, Well Done
Review: I wasn't expecting much from this film, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I liked seeing the transformation of Edward Norton's character.

I thought all of the acting was good, but I wish Elliot Gould's character had bit a bit stronger. That's more about the writing involved in the character than the acting.

One of the qualities of this film that I like the most is how it shows the negative consequences of violence. There's no glamour in the violence, just emptiness. We need more messages like that coming out of Hollywood.

This film is worth the time and the money.

Summary: Blew me away...
Review: Wow. The plot alone provides a more than compelling reason to watch this movie, but the acting of Norton and Furlong and the chemistry between them provides even more reason. I could not agree more with those who hail the plot as spectacular. It really chilled me, not just due to the hatred shown lurking in every corner, but because the fact that Norton's character got out of prison changed and alive was almost purely coincidence. So many "lucky" factors combined together to eliminate his views, and the fact that all these factors were needed is what scares me most. Most definitely not simply a liberal, left wing point of view.

Summary: A Dissenting Voice, here.
Review: It's interesting how we never see serious opposition to the Norton character. (Sorry, but a quivering Elliott Gould at the dinner table doesn't cut it.) Norton, in a great performance, spews out his venom pretty much with impunity, and there never is a voice which CONTRADICTS WHAT HE IS SAYING. The racist stuff, as it soon becomes annoyingly apparent, is simply a palimpsest over a cliched "cycle-of-violence" story, anyway. You also have to love the logic of Norton being "too good" to deal drugs to the minorities in prison, which, unaccountably, makes him question his racist beliefs. HUH?

There's the obligatory brutal rape scene in prison (cliche #34.) There's the blarney about a high school principal (!) working "undercover" with the LAPD. I could go on, but why bother. I am not taking away from Mr. Norton's effort. It's not his fault that the screenwriters attempted something so clearly beyond their capacities (i.e., the sincere reformation of a bigot). I guess it turns out that the director, Tony Kaye, was right about his own film: it sucks. But, Tony, you still have to apologize for it.

Summary: Can't Forget It
Review: This is the best argument against neo-nazism in all of modern lit/culture. Your head would have to be firmly ensconsed in your a** to not agree with this provocative and powerful statement about the scourge of racism. I can't forget the question 'what have they done to make your standard of living better?'. Ask the same thing after educating yourself.

Summary: A Masterpiece
Review: This film at times is hard to stomach, but it is a true and thought-provoking look at the dark side of human nature, and one man's struggle to change for the better. One of the best films of the year!

Summary: At least the 2nd best movie EVER made... period!
Review: I watched this movie... backed it up and watched it again... then watched it a third time the next night. I am now going to order it to add to my library. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MOVIE!!!!!!!!
