Summary: Wonderful family movie.
Review: I have finally looked at a movie that left me feeling happy inside. There are some very profound messages in this movie, the most important is LOVE. Love of God, love of neighbor, coming together to help one another, and most importantly that all people who follow Christ are Christians. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Summary: But is it art?
Review: This is the perfect film for the sorts of people who decorate their homes with Thomas Kinkade reproductions. All other moviegoers would do well to steer clear.

Summary: Joshua tells a story we all need to hear
Review: We selected "Joshua" as a rental because it sounded "interesting". As it turned out it was a lot more than interesting, it touched something deep within both of us. We ended up thoughtful and engrosed in conversation at the end. We were very peaceful that an inner truth was being told. Tonight we purchased 5 copies .... four for family and friends, and one for ourselves. Just a note .. we don't often purchase either videos or DVDs .. but this one was powerful. We recommend this video/DVD highly, and suspect that it's one that many will add to their own libraries. F & S

Summary: Awesome
Review: If you are believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and know your Bible, you will appreciate this movie and it's subtle way of bringing scripture to life. Jesus lives through each of us who believe in him, every day in every situation right now in this lifetime. If we would look for Him in each other and treat each other accordingly, what a blessing it would be. I rented the video but now will buy it and the book.

Summary: Read the Book Instead
Review: The book on which the DVD is based is extraordinary. The story provides many thought provoking views on the life of Christ and their implications for faith. Plus, it's just an excellent read.

It's almost shocking how bad the DVD is by comparison - constant, sappy background music, squeaky clean sets (i.e., unrealistic), and drained of drama. If you dare to watch, please don't let it put you off from reading the book.

Summary: Joyfull!
Review: The Joshua Series of books are so wonderful -- the video while not having all of the details of the first book was truly a "feel good movie". Totally uplifting. The perfect gift to share with friends. It makes you think -- when Jesus returns -- how will we see him, how will we know him. Great to share with children.

Summary: Good movie
Review: A very wholesome, wonderfully acted film. The plot was pretty good, although a few of the miracles Joshua performed were "duh's." In otherwords, you saw them coming. I'd say the most touching parts of the movie was when Joshua goes to the revival service, and finally, the last scene when he's with the pope. The revival service scene is the most touching of all.

This is a great christian movie. If you are wanting to witness to unsaved friends, this would probably be a good movie to do it with. It will make you wonder why you ever bought movies like "Left Behind."

Summary: Touches the Soul
Review: This movie adaptation of Father Girzone's book wonderfully compells the viewer to sit back and be fascinated by a modern day Christ story.

Joshua, an artist and woodcarver, drifts into a small town and within days turns a disjointed group of citizens into a community of good neighbors. Joshua's manner is straightforward, kind, yet fun and amusing---just the kind of guy you'd want at your next get-together. He doesn't preach---he simply is---his love and selflessness runs out from him like cool fresh water to the thirsty. His actions are transforming---but alas, they also cause trouble. The pastor of the local church is frightened by Joshua's charisma and he does his worst to disassemble the band of neighbors by attempting to blacken Joshua's name.

The movie is not as complicated as the novel, the scenes where Joshua is asked to speak at the nearby Jewish Synagogue are completely eliminated as is Girzone's hopeful message of all roads--all houses of worship--leading to the same goal rather than insisting that their way is the only way. The dialogue at times can be a little too persuasive in attempting to disclose the true nature of Joshua--which the audience identifies correctly from the start anyway.

I was disappointed that more attention was not paid to Joshua's exquisite carvings----only one of the statues of Peter is manifested here.
Of note is F. Murray Abraham's portrayal of the threatened pastor and lovely sad-eyed Giancarlo Giannini as the Pope.

Recommended to all who enjoy or need a spiritual kick in the head.
