Summary: Do I Laugh or Do I Cry?
Review: Steel Magnolias is the most heart-warming, bitter-sweet movie I have seen in a long time. The cast is absolutely superb!! I was crying one minute, and laughing the next. I have added it to my video collection, and I encourage everyone to do the same, you won't regret it.

Summary: A MOVIE THAT TUGS AT YOUR HEART AND THE LAUGHTER NEVER ENDS.
Review: JULIA ROBERTS BEST EARLIER ROLE AS SHELBY, A DIABETIC WHO LONGS TO HAVE A CHILD AND LIVE A NORMAL LIFE. DOLLY PARTON SHINES AS THE OWNER OF A SMALL TOWN BEAUTY SHOP THAT BRINGS FRIENDS TOGETHER TO TALK, GOSSIP AND SHARE THEIR PROBLEMS. SALLY FIELD, SHIRLEY MCCLAINE AND OTHERS BRING CHARACTERS THAT FEEL LIKE THEY ARE ALREADY SOMEONE IN YOUR LIFE. YOU NEVER FORGET EACH ONE. ALSO, THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP SHOWS THE UPS AND DOWNS AND THE DEVOTION ONLY A MOTHER AND DAUGHTER CAN FEEL. EVERYONE PLAYS A PROMINENT ROLE IN THIS SOUTHERN TOWN. STEEL MAGNOLIAS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE. IT MAKES YOU LAUGH, CRY AND LEAVES YOU WITH A SMILE.

Summary: Great action!!!
Review: Man, I didn't know a movie could kick this much butt!! From the opening scene of Jack Dawson flying over the streets of Paris in an Apache chopper as he is chased by the Israeli mob to the climax in which Jack must walk across a tightrope over the Grand Canyon, this film packed a ton of action, adventure and sex appeal!! I loved the part when Jack exposes the lies of Jimmy Thunder, president of the United States, saying, "I've got your presidential seal of approval right here!!" Anyone who does not like this movie is a weeny and should not be allowed to watch movies if the movie is a good movie and they don't like it.

Summary: Wow! Daryl Hannah can act?
Review: I have new respect for Daryl Hannah now that I've seen 'Steel Magnolias.' What a step up from her Snicker commercial "in the hour between 3 and 4 when your hunger kinda pokes at ya, pokes at ya." I worship the quicksand you walk on, Daryl. Keep up the good work!

Compelling Drama, Side-splitting Humor, and an Engaging Story combine to create a movie worth watching again and again. Well worth the purchase!

Summary: Laughter in all the right places
Review: Steel Magnolias is a movie that only comes along it one's lifetime. It gives you a sense that you are really there with these 5 women as they go through life's ups and downs. It makes you cry and laugh at the same time. I enjoyed the way the characters compliment each other. Julia Roberts was excellent in the role of Shelby. She gave a maginifcant portrayl of a woman torn between the love of a family and the realites of a illness. Sally Field does not get any better. She is a wonderful performer and she is fabolous in the role of M'Lynn. She shows a mother's heartache when her only daugther gets married, and then loses her to an illness. Ouiser played by Shirley Maclaine, offers the comic relief in the movie. She is the woman that everyone loves to hate. Her dog, Rhett, offers comedy as well. As Drumm says, "Hey, Rhett is here, lets connect the bald spots." Annelle: "What kind of dog is that?" Clarie in response, "If it had hair, it would be a St. Bernard." The movie is filled with laughter and joy, and it is a must for everyone's movie collection.

Summary: Southern Belles
Review: What's this?!. A young man giving a rave review for a tear inducing, 'chick flick' movie that'll leave you going through a box of tissues?!. Yes. The fact is that "Steel Magnolias" is a very good, nice film. Have we seen it before?. Yes. "Terms Of Endearment", a better movie, comes immediatley to mind. This movie works because of the cast : Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Daryl Hannah, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton, Olympia Dukakis, Tom Skerritt, and Dylan McDermott. These people give some of the best performances of their careers. The plot centers around a group of southern women who share each other's business while going to a local beauty shop. Another storyline includes Sally Fields' daughter(Roberts)getting married. If you haven't seen this movie, then that's all I'll say. Field gives a great performance. Her outburst scene towards the end is a real stand out. However, MacLaine steals every frame she's in as a sharp tongued southerner. Julia Roberts shines here too. Director Herbert Ross has a nice eye for detail. The film looks sharp. The movie has a fair share of intelligent comedy and drama. Just enough for everyone. So, come on guys!. The whole 'chick flick' title is old. Enjoy movies!. This is a nicely made movie.

Summary: Usually worried
Review: I'm usually worried when I hear that Hollywood is going to make a movie out of some great book or play. So many have been botched in the process and few have been made better. My current fear is what they'll do to "A Confederacy of Dunces" or "The Bark of the Dogwood" when those books go into script form. But for some reason, seeing "Steel Magnolias" when I did in New York all these many years ago, I had no fear. The play lends itself expertly to a movie script (This is actually a good thing), and of course, the cast they chose was/is stellar. This is one of my favorite all-time movies and if you're not moved by it, please, get yourself to an emergency room so they can check your pulse.
