Summary: Simply The Best
Review: This is one of the absolute best movies you will ever see period. If you are one that is way into character development, this is for you; Tim Robbins's character, Andy, goes to prision for murder, but what starts out as a tough time turns into a gigantic conspiracy. Full of twisted characters (the warden), characters you love to hate (Hadley), the ones you just can't help but give sympathy for their situation (Brooks and Red), and the classic on the edge not sure what to think of character (Andy). If you are into a thought provoking drama that keeps you going for the entire length of the movie, than don't hesitate for this one.

Summary: The best movie - Ever!
Review: From the minute I watched the movie to now I still can't say their is a better movie than this. This movie is so gripping, so aweome, and it's great. A monumental achievement for Frank Darabont.

This movie takes place in the 40's where Andy(Tim Robbins) is charged with the deaths of his wife and the man who was having an affair with her. He gets two life sentences for the crime. He meets up with Red(Morgan Freeman) in prison and the two form a friendship that teaches Red about life and hope. Red is the guy who can get things for people and Andy ask for something a little unusual Rita Haworth. The reason is not clear until later in the movie. Red delivers with a poster of her. The movie reaches its highpoint near the end and I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen this movie. The ending is awesome. Both actors here deliver their best performances and the director/writer Frank Darabont does an excellent job of adapting the story to screen. (He's a big Steven King fan by the way). This is a must have for anybody. It's main themes are faith, hope, and the human spirit. It's just awesome!

Watch it twice, three times, it gets better each time you watch it. Trust me.

Summary: Very good movie
Review: This is, of course, a well-acted production; you can't expect anything less from Robbins and Freeman. The message of hope and human triumph was wonderful. However, the Stephen King short story was excellent. I wish the ironic ending could have been worked in but there wasn't time to deal with it; and the rest of the treatment was so outstanding that it wasn't necessary.

Summary: Hope and Friendship are all you have
Review: The Shawshank Redemption was a very strong and powerful movie. This movie displays one mans triumph (Red, played by Morgan Freeman) of life through finding hope, given to him from a friend(Andy Dufresne, played by Tim Robbins) while they were in jail. The other main point is about freedom. Andy demonstrates that freedom is beautiful for being wrongfully accused and finally escaping Shawshank (as well as basically overthrowing it)and living his days out in the tropical sweetness of mexico.
Some say this is the best movie ever. I ,however, disagree. But I can with certainty say that this movie was certainly an amazing movie with an amazing cast and not the least that this movie was only made over a book from one of the best authors on this planet, Steven King.
If you are looking for a movie with everything, this has it, and although it might seem a little slow at times, you will understanf why in the end. I highly recommend this film and also recommend that anyone who is slightly interested after reading this check it out.
Bye now, Kyle

Summary: Like the message- -but a kind of boring movie.
Review: I don't understand why so many people love THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION so much. The film is okay, but it definitely isn't exactly the greatest movie of all time, and certainly not close to it. I saw this movie in one of my high school English classes and read the book as well.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION is about a guy named Andy (Tim Robbins) who is accused of murdering his wife, so he is sent to prison for life. In prison, he meets Ellis Boyd 'Red' Reddings (Morgan Freeman), and they become fast friends. Andy and Red talk about their adventures and life stories, and Andy then makes a plan to escape jail.

The movie is kind of predictable, since we all know Andy manages to bust out of jail. And it moves very slow. The acting performances (especially by Robbins and Freeman), are superb, and one of the highlights of the film. The storyline and plot are very simple and yet, I just can't seem to understand why this is such a beloved film.

This is not a film for all people...I saw it and I didn't like it all that much. If you want REAL drama, then check out films like IN THE BEDROOM, A BEAUTIFUL MIND, or ORDINARY PEOPLE instead. Those films are much more enjoyable! This one, however, is just boring. Skip it!

Summary: Overwhelming!
Review: The whole time I watched this movie I couldn't wait for it to end so I could watch it again. The acting was perfect and the story was disturbing, compelling and overwhelming. This is the best drama I have ever seen. Buy it, Buy it, Buy it Now. You will not regret this purchase.
