Summary: FINALLY!!!
Review: I must agree with the other reviews I have seen. This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I have been waiting for this to be released in DVD format ever since I got my DVD player! I even gave up looking for it and then I see it here on Amazon! Thank you!

No matter how many times I see this movie, it always makes me laugh and cry and want to sing along. This is one of those movies that comes in under the radar with no fanfare, but once you see it, you will be glad you did.

Summary: One of Best Black Music Movies Ever
Review: I love this movie. It makes me dance, sing, laugh, and cry. Definitely Robert Townsend's best movie. Reminds me of the good days of Mowtown, although the Motown decades were much before my time. Great movie to watch with girlfriends, guy friends, or family.

Summary: FINALLY

Summary: This Movie Told The Story of All The Great Black Soul Groups
Review: Great Movie. It gives you a picture of Black Soul Groups of the 60s. Robert Townsend couldn't do a movie on all the 60s great Soul Groups like The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Impressions, The Drifters, and many others. So what he did was he researched all the groups, and tried to tell their story through one group, he put all the situations, the troubles, the ups, the downfalls in this movie, so in this movie you may see a situation The Temptations had, maybe The Impressions. In each guy in this movie you see a David Ruffin, a Curtis Mayfield, a Ben E. King. In the movie each guy can relate to each Black Group from back then. Great movie. Great cast. Who would of ever though Leon would go on to play David Ruffin of The Temptations.

Summary: "Sure you wanna hang with ol' Eddie Cain?"
Review: The Five Heartbeats is one of those movies that when you're channel flipping
at night, no matter the time or whether or not you have to be up early for work or class the next day you're going to try to watch it all the way until the end when Leon says the above line made famous by Wyclef Jean on the song "Nappy Heads" by the Fugees. This film was made in 1991 during the "Black Film Rennaissance" in which New Jack City, Boyz In The Hood, Menace II Society, & Juice were all created. This film suffered from the famous "box office ticket switch" scam and fell short of grossing enough money to stay in the movie theatres more than 10 years ago. It has endured a life on cable and on VHS in which it's popularity has swelled immensely. It is finally being done justice on DVD (hopefully Once Upon A Time In America, Serpico, & The Walking Dead are all coming soon). Since it wasn't exactly a blockbuster there aren't many extras, but just having it make it to the DVD format is good enough for fans of this film (. . .)

Summary: emotional
Review: This movie really brought out the emotions in me. It seemed I was feeling what the characters were feeling from the beginning to the end. It was almost better than the Temptation movie which gets 5 stars, other than that it would have been my favorite music movie to date. If you notice one of the characters played in both movies. Which made me aware of the similarities. To my conclusion that maybe The Five Heart beats was telling the Temptations' story which made the movie even better. And the music was'nt so bad either.

Summary: My mom likes this movie
Review: I don't really care too much for it personally, I only gave it three stars cause of my mom, I think the reason I didn't like it was cause my sister and mom watched it like a ritual so it got boring to me. It does have its good moments though I'll admit that.
