Summary: It is simply a masterpiece!
Review: Taxi Driver is a must see for everyone interested in film. A perfect mix of story, characters, and music, Taxi Driver has it all. DeNiro playing the tragic hero has never been better. Simply the best movie ever made!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An influential, disturbing masterpiece.
Review: De Niro's infamous "Are you talking to me?" is Taxi Driver's calling card, but it is also a fascinating commentary on society, our heroes, and the nature of celebrity. De Niro's performance as the misguided Travis Bickle is one of his best, and Paul Scrader's brilliant screenplay is expertly directed by Scorsese. Travis has been cheated by the American Dream he believes in so feverishly. He tries to grab his little paradise, but simply lacks the tools to reach it. Travis is a tragic figure. He just wants to be like everybody else, but he's not. His rage eventually takes him and the viewer to places he did not expect.

Summary: leonard maltin is nuts
Review: this movie is in the same class as The Dearhunter, Full metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange, and others that both are worth watching and leave an indelible mark on your mind.

Summary: shame on you Leonard
Review: Shame on Leonard Maltin for not recognizing Scorcese's masterpiece of urban angst. The review also fails to mention a breakthrough performance for a young Harvey Keitel. This is an essential film for anyone who truly understands contemporary American Cinema.

Summary: true art
Review: That Leonard Maltin gave this movie a poor review only further validates his reputation as the worst critic in the history of cinema. He hates art and loves schmaltz. Taxi Driver is probably as great as films get. Not just a great movie for the average film consumer, but art for the true film lover. Get the widescreen version if you really want to treat yourself.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE (DON'T LISTEN TO LEONARD MAL
Review: THIS FILM IS SO REALISTIC. IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE,ESPECIALLY ME. THE GREAT THING ABOUT TRAVIS BICKLE IS THAT HE' S AN ORDINARY GUY THAT WE CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH. ANYBODY WHO CALLS THIS FILM TRASH OR DOESN'T LIKE IT IS CLEARLY AN IDIOT. THIS IS FILMMAKING AT IT'S MOST REALISTIC AND BRUTAL. A MUST SEE. DE NIRO GIVES A POWERHOUSE PERFORMANCE.

Summary: The Most Powerful Film Of All Time
Review: Taxi Driver is one of the top five films of all time. Martin Scorsese is the greatest director of all time and Robert De Niro is the greatest actor of all time. The film is great in every way. Quite possibly the most powerful film of all time.

Summary: a great performance
Review: The character study of the taxi driver, Travis Bickle, is what makes this movie great. He, like all of us, is a creature of contradiction--views desenstizing pornography like it is normal tv (and even takes a date to a porn theatre, later explaining with complete honesty that he did not know much about movies) while going to desperate means to save a teenage prostitute. Bickle is simultaneously repulsed by and drawn to the lonely, despondent, filthy city life through his role as a cab driver. The dialogue also makes this movie unique and honest, particularly the scene at the coffee shop between Deniro and Cybil Shepard. I am not a movie expert, but this is one of the best I've ever seen.

Summary: GROUNDBREAKING MASTERPIECE
Review: +AH4-To the 'Viewer from the US who had the arrongence, ignorance and cheek to openly slag off one of cinema's greatest achievements. Overrated? How can that be possible? It is an assured, accurate and disturbing pshycological study that taps directly into th e brain using powerful imagery second to none. De Niro gives the performance of a lifetime, in a subtle, moving and GROUNDBREAKING masterpiece. If it's so bad, then how come critics, cinema lovers and viwers round the world hail it+AH4-+AH4- unanimously as a milestone in film? It's brilliant. That you cannot deny.+AH4-

Summary: Robert De Niro at his best!
Review: Robert De Niro has always been known as an actor who takes his parts very seriously. In fact, during the filming of Taxi Driver he actually drove a taxi for 2 weeks before someone noticed him. The movie takes the viewer right out of his/her chair and drives them in the taxi towards the road of imagination. It's incredable how Robert takes us in many of his movies! This is most definately a movie to add to your collection if your a true movie fan!
