Casino is also not a movie for everone. People who enjoy true srories, mob movies and people who want to adventure into the harsh world of sex, money, drugs and corruption through a movie screen should definetly get off their tails and BUY, or at least RENT this film.

Another Scorsese/Deniro blockbuster.Many actors from the "Goodfellas' fame make this film a bloody, sickly humorous and edge of your seat crime drama. If you have "Goodfellas", you MUST get this as well.

Review: This movie is a classic, Robert Deniro holds it down in any role he takes. What these people do is pull off an ill scheme every month to collect doe and stay consistent on top of the casino. In the end the only one who makes out good is robert deniro, this is a must have if you like organized crime movies. First buy then watch it ain't even worth the trip if your going to rent.

Summary: easily one of the most entertaining movies of all time
Review: Wow, what can I really say about this movie? As others have mentioned, this is kind of a sequel to GoodFellas in that it has a lot of the same people in it of course. And while I'm sure there are many people who can persuasively argue that GoodFellas is a finer piece of "cinema," Casino stands as proof that the crew really perfected their formula. So, while it may not be the first nor the most, uh, "artistically meritorious" mob movie, sometimes I can't help but think that Casino is the most wildly entertaining of them all.
Casino is a long movie and de Niro fills the film with one of his best performances. He's Ace Rothstein, a Las Vegas casino operator who gets involved with the mafia. Like with "Henry Hill" (Ray Liotta) in GoodFellas, there is plenty of tension because, not being Italian whatsoever, let alone the 100% that is supposedly required, Ace can never be truly accepted into the inner mob circle. This is an aspect of the movie that I think had real potential for nuance and development, but is largely glossed over, aside from Peschi's primarily comedic jabs about Ace being a "stupid Jew bastard" and such.
That said, Casino makes up for this with a really extraordinary portrayal of Ace himself.

Review: Of many of Robert De Niro's films, Casino is a classic! I consider Casino better than GoodFellas! This film has a lot more action than GoodFellas and makes it even more interesting to watch. All in all, if you buy GoodFellas, you got to have Casino to go along!

Review: But that was what Sam Rothstein did anyway and look how that turned out? Beautiful, isn't it?

I must say, though, Sharon Stone gave a grade A performance in this movie. I'm not a fan of her by any stretch of the imagination, but she was great in this movie! However, her performance was surpassed by Joe Pesci and Rober De Niro, of course.

When reviewing this movie, people tend to compare it to GoodFellas, and I can see why. After all, there is a similar casting, a similar plot of uprising then downfall (but then again, not many gangster movies I know don't have this kind of plot). Despite it, I think that this movie shouldn't be compared to GoodFellas.

I myself like the similar casting (also the irony of Frank Vincent in this movie), but the contrast between this movie and GoodFellas is pretty high. One of the more noticeable differences is the lack of secrecy in the murders. For example, you would know who's going to get killed. The mobsters in this movie makes it very obvious and they also do it pretty openly, except for a few cases. On the other hand, secrecy is completely vital in GoodFellas. To top it off, there is barely any killing in this movie. Well, compared to GoodFellas anyway. Aside from this, there are also many differences.

Yes, I acknowledge the many similarities, but they're both in the same genre (gangster), so you got to have some leverage. If they're in the same genre and created by the same director, then you can't honestly expect them to be completely different. Sure, they may be completely different, but the chances of that are not likely.

Now, on to the movie itself. I must say that it is very good. It shows the rise of a man named Sam "Ace" Rothstein who is given a casino by mob bosses. He is very good at what he does and makes an unbelievable amount of money. Soon, a clause by the name of Nicky Santoro is brought into the mix. He causes trouble, but everything soon works out.

Here, though, both of the main characters begin making fatal mistakes. Rothstein falls in love with a woman and decides to marry her. The problem is that she is a VERY VERY high price woman. All for her, Rothstein invest a HUGE sum of money and jewelry in her name. Santoro's own mistake here is that he takes a liking to her. The mistake is that affairs are looked down upon in the mafia. These few mistakes could have easily been fixed, but a few more mistakes soon ensured that everyone would be in trouble.

Personally, I like the flow of the story. Some people might consider it slow since the movie is very long in comparison to others, but I thought it was just right. You knew trouble was going to come, but the story develops the events accordingly rather than let you assume what led to it. I personally thinks it makes the story rich. However, I have a problem with the ending.

Now, I have only watched two other Martin Scorsese movie before this, but I could already tell that this guy does not do very good endings. I watched Mean Streets and the ending was kind of inconclusive and also confusing. I watched GoodFellas and the ending was anti-climactic. In this movie, the ending was somewhat unrealistic. I mean, it seemed like none of the guys were expecting any trouble, despite how they should have. They just sort of went out with a *POOF* rather than a *BANG*, even Santoro.

Oh well, the rest of the movie was still good. The ending is the only reason the story got a 4 rather than a 5. I assured any potential new viewers here that the movie is quite good. Catch it if you can!

Review: Not much to say besides Love it, Love it, Love it. Pacino and DeNiro make a great team. Love everything about this movie. A must see for movie lovers!
