Summary: Bad DVD for a great movie
Review: If you already own the tape, don't bother buying the DVD. The quality is sub par and with all that surrounded this movie you would think that there wouild have been some extras. There is nothing. Hopefully someone will come out with a SE version.

Summary: 4 1/2! Wonderfully Acted, and Scripted!
Review: There are not many crime films that capture the same feeling that Goodfellas, The Godfather and Casino share. Casino is all about betrayel. I don't want to spoil anything. All I want to share with you, is how wonderful the appearences from Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone are. They make you want to be there while the story goes on. When you get to see the other side of the story, where Sharon wants Joe Pesci to kill his bestfriend, Robert DeNiro, Joe (even though Sharon is cheating on Robert with him) refuses. But, in the end, all I can say is, everybody gets what they deserved.

Review: This didn't do as well as expected at the box office, so when I saw it on video, I was amazed how good it was. I may even prefer it to GOODFELLAS. And I find Sharon Stone an annoying person, but found her performance in this film brilliant.

Summary: Never have a meeting in a corn field!
Review: Casino, while being eerily similar to Goodfellas, is a great mob movie. Deniro, once again, is such an amzing actor and presence that you can't help but be in awe of him. Pesci plays almost an identical character to the one in Goodfellas - except for a small change in accent. However, this little guy is still one bad man! I still believe that this is Sharon Stone's only good movie. Ironically, she doesn't have to disrobe to earn that status.The plot, like most mob movies, is easy to predict - but I don't care. They could churn these out every year and I would still be there in the theater - aluminum bat in hand of course!

Review: iz really like this movie. and think itz one of the all time best. i like robbi and joe and sharon. evetyhting about this movie wworks evrey well. i though it waz a bit long but the story is so exciting that you really doesn't mind. the directing is really good. if you like thisz movie rent this and goodfellsa on the same day....peace!

Summary: THE GREATEST MOB FILM EVER!
Review: CASINO is without a doubt the greatest mob film yet! It has a great cast Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci, James Woods, Don Rickles..ect... It also has a great story line. Sam Rothstein(Robert DeNiro) is riding it high, he is the boss of the Tangiers casino, accompanied by his drunk & drugged up call girl wife(Sharon Stone). Also his anger driven, buddy, the dangerous mobster Nick Santoro(Joe Pesci)... ***SPOILER*** One thing leads to another and eventually the down fall of the Casino, and most of everyone in the mob. Adapted from a true story, Casino is a movie to watch over and over again...

Review: The Plot: (A film review by Christopher Null - Copyright © 1995 filmcritic.com) "Casino is the tale of Sam Rothstein (Robert De Niro), the best of the old bookmakers, who is hand-picked by his mob bosses "Back Home" to go to Las Vegas to run the Tangiers Casino. Sam has to contend with managing the bosses' skim going out the back door, cheats at the tables, the law breathing down his neck, and strung-out hustler Ginger (Sharon Stone), whom Sam falls for, and, despite his better judgment, eventually marries. Add to the mix Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), who basically reprises his role from GoodFellas as a "problem solver" with a temper from hell, and it's pure chaos in the high-glamour world of 1973 Las Vegas." (End quote from Filmcritic) Casino is another amazing Scorsese flick. Using the same type of methods he used in Goodfellas, this movie is worth it's weight in gold purely for the directing. His narrative's are great, and watch for his unique technique of freezframing scenes with a voiceover. Goodfellas is an even better example of this. This DVD isn't jam packed with "extras", but why do you buy movies anyway? I give the "extras" a "C", although if you want amazing "extras" you should DEFINATELY check out American Beauty on DVD, but that's another review. The audio track is perfect. Scorsese uses a lot of music to enhance the film, so the Dolby Digital really does kick but. A+ for the soundtrack. The feature has a widescreen track, and is clear and crisp. Scorsese uses brighter colors than he did in Goodfellas, and I rate the video an "A". Really, unless a DVD was totally botched up, I can't see giving it a lower grade for video. People that notice slight degradation of these things have a lot more to worry about than the fact that their movie was ruined by a slightly grainy picture in a scene or two, which I didn't notice in this picture, but have noticed in one or two other movies. The movie itself is 3 hours of enjoyment. Some long movies get really boring, and so much is added filler that should have been taken out. This is not the case with Casino. The movie keeps you interested the entire time. 4 Stars, a must see for those really into gangster movies.

Summary: Scorsese In his Milieu
Review: This film takes on the two very appealing subjects in our culture today. Las Vegas and the Mafia. CASINO is compared to GOODFELLAS and pardodied as a part two movie. A sequel it is not, yet it picks up on the same aspects of extreme, true to life violence that coincides with the reality of the thuggish life of organized crime. The film is based on the Book CASINO by Nicolas Pilleggi. Though the film is more focused on mob take over of Las Vegas and the loss of such, the relationship between Stone's character and every male in the film it misses some of the more interesting parts of the book. The book catches the mechanics of the deal of putting together a casino, which would have been a great facet for the film, but which is swept away in a few shots. Nonetheless, the mechanics of the shots infused with the music are mesmerizing. The soundtrack infusion is even more intruiging than that of GOODFELLAS. Pesci is the perfect epitomy of evil. DeNiro is the perfect idiot savant, being brilliant in business but a fool at heart. James Woods' character is convincing as the pathetic, loser pimp. Sharon Stone is great as a Junkie, hustler, femme fatale. This is the best acting Sharon Stone has ever done. The patented Scorsese is here. The ensemble is perfect. Though this film is not on a classic scale as Goodfellas is in the genre, it is a must see in any case.

Summary: The Land of the Lost
Review: If you're checking out this DVD, chances are your mind is already made up--you're gonna buy it, you know you are, and what a great buy it is! Director Martin Scorcese's vision comes home with this DVD, featuring widescreen format. You get to see every inch of Las Vegas as Scorcese intended you to see it. Although the purist would say there's no screen like the silver screen, for those of us who don't own theaters, this will do nicely. The colors are fantastic, the acting terrific, and the story great. It also features a title design by the wonderful Saul Bass, who you might remember composed many titles for Hitchock, including films like Vertigo and Psycho. Here, the neon glimmer of Las Vegas is transformed into the place we always knew it to be--a purgatorial pit stop for the wretched sinner. The immortal Robert De Niro leads this hot cast, including super pumped Pesci, and Sharon Stone. Look for James Woods in one of his sleaziest, yet finest, performances. A hot soundtrack balances out the method swearing, and once again, Scorsese uses his camera and his beloved editor Thelma Schoonmaker to show the rise and fall of an American dynasty in the screen time of 2 hours and 59 minutes. I gave the film 4 out of 5 stars because of my never-ending quest to get studios to put more special features on their DVDs, which this DVD is sadly, misguidedly lacking. Still, a dazzling piece of filmmaking not to be missed!!!

Review: "Goodfellas" is as over-rated as this film is under-rated. This is far and away the better of the two.
