Summary: Flawless
Review: Angelina Jolie gives us a stunning performance as Gia in the HBO origianl move GIA. This was the very first movie I saw Angelina Jolie in and I immediately fell in love with her. As I read reviews of this movie and research the actual Gia Marie Carangi, I realize that Angelina Jolie perfectly portrays this legend. As soon as i saw it on HBO, I recorded it as soon as it came on again. Then very soon after that I had to order it. This movie is so astounding, that everyone that watched it with me loved it as much as I did.

Summary: A remarkable life story
Review: When I first saw the story of Gia's life on HBO, it was fascinating to me. As a teenager in the mid-80s, the images of Gia that I can remember on Vogue were haunting. They were the kind of images that make you want to become bulimic so that you can have a face, figure, and life like Gia's. Now, having seen the story of her life, it is instead further evidence that beauty, fame, and fortune do not lead to happiness. This was very much like watching an expensive car involved a car accident--you are horrified, intriuged, shocked, and sorry all at the same time. This was a well crafted and moving life story.

Summary: Heartbreaking!
Review: This was a very good and very sad movie about a woman who diedway too young. Although, the focus is on her fame, money, drugaddiction, and lesbian lifestyle, you get the impression through most of the movie that she was just a little girl looking for a mother. It was very sad when Faye Dunaway, who seemed to fulfil this need somewhat, dies, and her own mother never seems to be able to provide her with what she needs. Still, without the drugs & the lifestyle, etc., she might have overcome her insecurities. Another story of too much, too soon, and an inability to deal with it. Very moving.

Summary: LOVELESS GIA
Review: This movie portraits a wonderful woman who could have lived longer. She, in my own opinion, needed the love and compassionate understanding of a person who could stay long enough to see her hunger for love and the cry for help, professional help, she needed. It is really sad to see a young woman with great potential go down the drain in her very demanding world.

Summary: unforgetable
Review: This moive made me cry. Gia made me see what drugs can do to anybody. Many people like Gia felt that they were always in control, but in fact the drugs are. Gia was asked to pick between her lover (Lisa) and drugs. guess who she pick ? I wish on one goes through what Gia when through. This moive was sad and in a little way made you feel good inside. Love is a powerful thing, but so are drugs.

Summary: Angelina,a fresh new face in the old Hollywood
Review: GIA is very realistic. I found this film o be very entertaining, but on the other side the story is that of a top fashion model, who's addiction to drugs destroy her career. Angelina Jolie was the best casting for this film,it's nice to see new actors spread their wings! All by all I recommend this movie to anyone who thinks the fashion industry is a cake walk.think again!

Summary: HBO Delivers
Review: Kudos to a clever script, smart direction and the magnificent performances of Angelina Jolie, Mercedes Ruehl and Elizabeth Mitchell. Sometimes some of the best movies are the ones that never make it to theaters. HBO has a history of recognized original films, and this is one that I would definetely recommend to anyone who has a fascination with the world of modeling and show business.

Jolie, who is quite a character herself, creates an accurate and stunning portrayal of the model who burned out as quickly as she rose to fame in the ever-evolving world of fashion and modeling. Spiraling downwards into a world of drugs, sex and violence, Carangi lived hard and died young, her face forever immortalized by the lens that first discovered her raw and intriguing appeal. No doubt about it, she is an unforgettable icon in the industry, such as the scene indicates where she rudely carves her name into the receptionist's counter at the modeling agency who immediately takes her under their wing and turns her from a feisty and fearless teenager into a seductive and ethereal glamour goddess. Now this was a performance well-warranted of recognition and the Golden Globes knew that, thus presenting Jolie with its high honors as Best Actress.

Mercedes Ruehl was the perfect narrator for the story, Gia's forlorn and almost flaky mother, boning up her daughter's legacy with childhood memories and the typical endearments only mothers could enjoy. Then there's the wonderful supporting role of Linda, Gia's on-again off-again girlfriend, who is played with wonderful restraint by Elizabeth Williams. The only character with enough sense to try to get miles away from Gia's destructive behavior and crumbling sense of self-worth. She tries relentlessly to lead Gia astray from her powerful addictions (promiscuity, heroin, etc.), but loses her fight each time. Her love is honest and deep, but her will to stay sane is even stronger, and she eventually walks away later on. Not to mention with a man, which Gia takes offense to and fuels her fire for her deep-rooted depression and her escape into the euphoria of intravenous drugs, which ultimately becomes her demise.

It's a sad story to tell, but nevertheless it's told well, and although you won't be smiling when it's over, you'll be very much impressed by the acting and the directing. Five stars it is, and this definetely won't be a waste of money to the person who chooses to buy, lest they aren't convinced by my gushing review!

Summary: Gia
Review: I first learnt about Gia when I flipped on the tv console after a long day (yeah, life is such!) and was immediately caught up about the frequent mention of this supermodel who I hadn't the faintest idea of (knew most of the supermodels of this and the past era). Surfing the net brought me to "Thing of Beauty" and I was hooked on getting the video. The performances of the main casts were captivating. I felt myself transitioning from enjoying Angelina Jolie's performance of a smart street kid, to the wonders of an 'insight' as such to the world of fashion and decadence, to the wonderment of her boldness in courting, the eroticism of the lesbian scene, and the pains of her insecurity, to the final sadness when Gia realized so much too late. All this even though I read the book prior to the movie. If nothing else, one would learn the true appreciation of the education of HIV today to the general population. It feels good to see Gia immortalised in print and movie...

Summary: Angelina Jolie at her best!
Review: I veiwed this "movie" about 5 months ago, and I must say that it was a superb movie. First of all, Angelina Jolie was perfect for the part, infact her acting was so real, I was almost feeling how she felt. Second, I had no idea that this was a true story when I had seen it. While I was watching it, I thought it was very sad and entertaining, but when I found out that EVERYTHING in the film was true, I wa shocked. And third, the story is so touching and tragic at times. I know guys don't cry, but I almost did at the very en when Gia found out she had aids and couldn' tell her girlfrind, Linda. This was a great story and it showd that people who are beautiful can't always have beauty and happiness at the same time. To sum it all up...it was FANTASTIC! A MUST SEE!
